I really, really wanted to love this series from Lisa Jewell, but it has just felt so slow. it's taken me forever to get into them and wish more actually happened. I've come to realize her books are more in the "slow burn" category and need to be prepared for that when reading them. This one was fine, but think it could have been much shorter (with less mundane details).

Sometimes it’s hard for a thriller to keep you on your toes as they can become predictable but this one was great. I didn’t guess the twists and really enjoyed the outcome

This book was creepy in the right way and had a whole cast of characters that I did NOT trust!

Two young, new parents (Tallulah and Zach) go missing one weekend and Tallulah's mom Kim suspects foul play while Zach's mom seems to think they just ran away. I really did not like Zach's mom.... How could she be so blasé about it?

I liked the alternating timelines. We get to see glimpses of Tallulah and Zach's life before they go missing and a year later when Tallulah's mom is still wondering what happened when a new head of school and his girlfriend a mystery novelist bring back the past and get the police looking into it, harder, again.

Even though I figured out part of what happened they were still some surprises. It was a very intense ending but I really enjoyed the ride

Lisa Jewell!!! AAHHH!! This book had me on my toes and looking around every corner! Talk about creepy, thrilling, and suspenseful!! What happened to that couple a year ago and what is going on at the Dark Place. You won't believe it as this book unfolds!!! Get ready for the ride of your life with this one!!

The Night She Disappeared is one of my favorites by Lisa Jewell. I have been a Jewell fan for several years, but this one definitely elevated her on my list.

Tallulah and her boyfriend, Zach, go missing after a date night. The college-age couple are parents to a young child and something about them supposedly "running off" does not sit well with Talulah's mother, Kim.

I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happened and why. There are so many reasons and suspects and it is all tied together really well.

Lisa Jewel creates yet another great mystery with a compelling mother/daughter love story at its core.

The story follows a missing daughter, Tallulah, and her mother, Kim, that will stop at nothing to find her.

I enjoyed how the story is told in dual timelines between the night Tallulah went missing and present day. I really felt connected to this family and the mother/daughter relationship.

I was hooked from the beginning and will continue to look forward to more Lisa Jewell's books.

19 year old Tallulah, her mom Kim, and two timelines from 2017 and 2019.

Tallulah disappears while her mom babysits her young child. This is where the mystery begins....

I was wrapped up in Kim's story and she felt authentic and was the star of the novel for me. Although the mystery was intriguing, I never felt it had enough tension or thrilling suspense, but was still curious enough to find out all the why's of the disappearance.

I struggled with the timelines (lots of backstory) and relating to the teenage characters (which was a large part of the narrative). I just wasn't invested in the teenagers or interested in their stories (disappointing for me). Maybe YA fans would enjoy it more.

I think Jewell fans will still enjoy the slow-burning mystery. There are some curious aspects that I enjoyed as well as a creepy old mansion, a snoopy secondary character and plenty of hidden secrets.

Not my most favorite Lisa Jewell, but definitely one I’d recommend.

The Night She Disappeared begins with the disappearance of Kim’s teenage daughter, Tallulah and her boyfriend. This news is especially frightening because Tallulah is a young mother. Kim is determined to find her daughter and thus begins a long journey to do so.

With a fair amount of characters, told through multiple POV’s and multiple timelines, this story can feel a little confusing. While a missing daughter isn’t the most original storyline ever, there were definitely some aspects that had me invested until the end. Jewell knows how to write a good story! It was hard to not pick up on every thing as a possible breadcrumb or clue to what happened, but I was still surprised by the ending.

Overall, I’d say this was a good slow-burn mystery and would recommend it to those that have loved her previous books.

Thank you so much to @atriabooks and #netgalley for my advanced e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

The story begins in 2017 with Tallulah, a young mother who also attends college and her boyfriend Zach needing a night out. Tallulah's mother Kim agrees to babysits. In the morning when Kim realizes Tallulah has not come home, she begins making phone calls and the police become involved but, eventually the case is unsolved. The only lead they have is that the couple was never seen after a night of partying at a remote country estate where Scarlett, a wealthy college friend lives. Fast forward to 2019, a young mystery writer new to the town who lives on the edge of the woods notices a sign while out walking in the secluded area. The sign says "DIG HERE." Is this significant in regards to the missing couple?

This is one of those stories that kept me quickly turning pages and trying to find out what happened, I thought the dual time periods worked well and the story was well paced as well.

This was such a good read. I am normally a slower reader, but I flew through this one! Jewell develops an interesting cast of characters who intertwine to make an awesome thrilling story!

Lisa Jewell does it again! At this point this is the FOURTH book I've rated five stars from her, so it's safe to say she rights a wicked thriller.

Tallulah and her boyfriend Zach (who have known each other their entire lives, but their relationship has secretly taken an abusive turn when Zach becomes angry and controlling) go missing, seemingly without a trace and leaving their one-year-old son behind, and a year later new evidence just happens to show up that will crack the case wide open.

I felt like I was RACING through this. The pace moves so quickly it almost made me anxious at times. I read this every chance I could get and truly loved the experience. This will be a winner for most anyone who loves a thriller!

Getting approved for The Night She Disappeared was the highlight of my day. I have enjoyed Lisa Jewell’s books. The Family Upstairs remains my favorite of her work so far. This book was a bit too much.

I overall did enjoy it, but it left me unsatisfied. The ending just didn’t wrap up everything as neat as I would have liked it. And some plot twists were way too easy to guess. I like it when it's a bit more difficult to figure out what is going on.

I must applaud Lisa Jewell for giving me the answer to one question that I needed to be answered. The Dog… Safe to say it lives happily ever after and I appreciate that she didn’t forget about it.

The Night She Disappeared is a good novel, but it's not a great one. Fans of Lisa Jewell will probably enjoy this one. So if you enjoyed her other books, definitely give this one a go.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a thriller and I knew that I couldn’t go wrong with Lisa Jewell.

Jewell has a way of getting you invested in multiple story lines and keep you guessing. I honestly couldn’t even think of what could have happened through this entire book. As soon as I thought I had figured it out, something else was revealed and I was sent back to the drawing board. It all came together perfectly at the end and blew my mind!

If you like a book that will keep you guessing and is full of twists and turns, pick this one up. You won’t regret it!

Tallulah and her boyfriend, Zach, both nineteen, are going out on a date, leaving their infant son with her mother, Kim. Kim watches her daughter leave and, as late evening turns into night, which turns into early morning, she waits for her return. And waits. The next morning, Kim phones Tallulah’s friends, who tell her she was last seen heading to a house party in Surrey, England called Dark Place. She never returns.

A year later, Sophie Beck, a mystery writer, is walking in the woods near the boarding school where her boyfriend works as a head-teacher when she sees a hand-lettered cardboard affixed to a tree that reads: “DIG HERE.” What she finds there has Sophie and Kim joining forces to search for the truth.

This was my first Lisa Jewell novel. Crazy, right? She is the New York Times bestselling author of nineteen novels that have sold over ten million copies, and somehow, I’ve missed her. Well, The Night She Disappeared was a great introduction to her work. Her riveting twists sucked me in and never let go. It was ingenious! Highly recommended for mystery lovers. I enjoyed both the print book and the audio. 4 stars.

The Night She Disappeared was a great read. It had the perfect amount of mystery, thrill, and was character-driven. I loved how there were a bunch of flashbacks.

The Night She Disappeared had potential, but I was disappointed in the end. We are following Tululah, who is a teenage mother. She lives with her mother and her son while she goes to college. Her son's father comes back in the picture, creating a bit of conflict for Tallulah. After going out on a date night, the two disappear, leaving their son and Tululah's mother looking for them. We also get the viewpoint of Sophie, who is moving to town a year after their disappearance and starts to investigate. The story unravels through flashbacks and Sophie's experiences.

I feel as though this book had a predictable ending and spent a lot of time explaining things in too much detail. I would have enjoyed a bit more twists and turns instead of more detail. All in all, it wasn't a bad read, but I wouldn't think of it if I was asked to recommend a thriller.

Lisa Jewell just keeps churning out these incredible eerie suspense/thriller novels. I was thoroughly involved in this one. I found very small threads of similarities between this book and Then She Was Gone, mostly the premise. But while they have some similarities, they are vastly different and each so interesting with the ways the characters interact and are involved in each other's lives. I think my favorite character here is Tallulah's mom. While she's not an intensely main figure, she has a stamina and a drive for information that makes me appreciate her as a mom, as a woman, and as someone in grief- trying to carry on. I really hope she snuggled up with the detective after all was said and done. She deserves it. I can't wait to read the next Lisa Jewell novel! A novelist probes into the disappearance of a young couple in Lisa Jewell’s latest—THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPPEARED.

The story unfurls in three intertwined timelines—months prior to the disappearance, the events more directly leading up to the night in question, and a year later, when mystery author Sophie Beck moves into the house where it all happened.

We meet 19-year-old Tallulah Knox, who along with her boyfriend Zach, care for their baby Noah. And while Tallulah could never regret her infant son, she longs to escape Zach’s cruel and possessive vise.

In college, Tallulah meets Scarlett Jacques, a girl who seemingly has it all. As Tallulah’s relationship with Zach continues to deteriorate, her friendship with Scarlett takes a tumultuous turn—all events which lead to the night Zach and Tallulah vanish after a late-night party at Tallulah’s cottage at the edge of the woods, dubbed “Dark Place” by locals.

The mystery of the disappearance grips Sophie, who begins to ask questions. Then, a cryptic clue sends Sophie spiraling even deeper, unearthing new evidence that could shed new light on what happened to the young couple. It’s clear someone knows something, and together with Tallulah’s mom, Kim, she’s determined to draw out the truth.

Jewell’s latest is a slow-burning, character-driven psychological suspense. Engrossing at every level, the story immerses you in the drama and intricacies of its characters, pulling you in so deeply that before you know it, you’re lost to the narrative, deeply invested and clamoring to unravel the mystery. There’s an almost procedural-like feel to this one too, as Sophie and Kim sleuth away to uncover the truth.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Jewell’s and THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED brims with everything I love about her novels: rich characters, a compelling mystery, simmering tension, and immersive storytelling to keep you turning the pages.

Mystery was a little stretched out and I didn't really like Tallulah or Sophie. I did like Scarlett and her dynamic. I also thought Zach's personality was a great villian without being a villian. I did see the ending coming a mile away though. All in all a great book and Ilike this Lisa Jewell book 2nd best of all her novels.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an advanced copy of Lisa Jewell’s The Night She Disappeared, in exchange for an honest review.

On the outside, it appears that despite being a young mom, Tallulah has her life on the right track. She lives with her mom, Kim, who helps with childcare, allowing Tallulah to attend classes at a local college. Zach, the father of her baby is attentive to his child and wants to marry Tallulah. No one notices how possessive Zach can be and that Tallulah is not interested in pursuing a relationship with him.

At school, Tallulah meets Scarlet, a rich and troubled classmate who lives in a creepy mansion at the edge of the village. Tallulah and Scarlet begins a secretive and unlikely friendship. Tallulah and Zach attend a party at Scarlet’s mansion and go missing the following morning. A missing person’s case, turns into a cold case, leaving Kim bereft, yet holding out hope for any information about her daughter.

A few years later, Sophie, a crime writer moves into a cottage of a nearby boarding school with her fiancé, a professor at the school. On a walk of the grounds, she finds a mysterious note to dig in the ground, where she unearths an engagement ring. The ring and a series of other mysterious notes clearly intended for Sophie, lead her to begin to pice together the puzzle of Zach and Talulah’s disappearance.

I’m a huge fan of Lisa Jewell and i’ve read most of her novels, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to read her latest. I enjoyed The Night She Disappeared and it was a quick read, but from a mystery stand-point, it wasn’t as strong as some of her other novels. The character of Sophie and her solving of the mystery was almost too convenient and therefore, the less interesting aspect of the story.

The strongest and most dynamic aspect of the story was the relationship between mother and daughter, Kim and Tallulah. Tallulah’s relationship woes and path of self-discovery as a young twenty-something were very relatable and made me connect to her character. I’m forty-four, but it brought me back to that time in my own life. Initially the intrigue and mystery surrounding Scarlett and her gothic mansion were engaging, but as more of her was revealed, it was less interesting.

Although this wasn’t my favorite of her novels, I’m still a huge fan of Jewell and recommend her books to anyone looking for a good mystery.
