If you're looking for a book to have you wonder what the next twist might be, this is it! Missing people, strained relationships, passion, the love between a parent and a child---it's all there!

Well done!!! This book kept my interest 100%. I even went to bed one night, after reading, and then just popped back up to continue reading! Well written and so cleverly imagined. Brava Lisa Jewell. I will be recommending this read as soon as it’s published. Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

I loved having three timelines to follow - this was a great psychological thriller that I'll be excited to recommend as a fall reading.

This wasn't my favorite Lisa Jewell book but I was surprised by this especially the ending. It was a bit slow and I wanted a little bit more twists and turns but like I said it was a solid mystery.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
This took a while to get going, and even when it did there wasn't a lot to the plot really. The constantly shifting time lines and perspectives (seemingly compulsory for contemporary crime writing) slowed things down and were confusing at times. I thought the depiction of Talullah's relationship with Zach was well done. I don't see that Sophie's character was necessary to the story at all. Her contribution seemed to be to fail to recognize the reproduction of the opening scene of her first novel - would any novelist really do so? - and feeling sexually attracted to a 19 year old boy. Otherwise her role would have been better incorporated in Kim's. The ending was rather melodramatic, although the very ending was excellent.

Amazing! I definitely got that feeling you experience when you read a really good thriller! It was engaging, it definitely is her writing as well that keeps the readers engaged. It started off as any other regular thriller but it takes off spectacularly. Tallulah and her boyfriend go missing in a small town near London and remain missing for a long time. The police find no clues at all but now when there is a writer who is known for her detective novels in the town, the case suddenly opens up with new clues. It kept getting interesting every page and the pace maintained throughout the book.
I absolutely recommend this one without a doubt! It has all the twists and the turns! I wanted it to be more creepy though but still thoroughly enjoyed it! I am already looking forward to her next one!
Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy of this book!

Lisa Jewell never disappoints. "The Night She Disappeared" builds so much tension that I was tempted to skip to the end to see what happened and then go back and read how that came about. Thankfully I didn't to that, because there's a lovely ramp up to a satisfying ending. I'm not sure about the denouement--can you really find someone with just a few Instagram pix? Not wanting to scatter spoilers, but I'd be interested to hear other readers' take on that. Otherwise, this is a fully involving story that will entertain and creep you out. Enjoy!

I don't think I've ever been more sure of how a book would end, only to be turned back so many times! The anxiety this book gave me was intense. Multiple POV story about a missing couple, the mother determined to find them and a writer who is curious to know the truth. I enjoyed our glimpses into the past, present and futures from the perspectives of our characters, and the slow descent to the truth. "Dig Here" for a wonderful, thrilling tale!

This is a highly entertaining mystery that alternates between past and present. Teen parents, Zach and Tallulah have an infant son and a fragile relationship. After a night out, the two aren’t seen or heard from again. Fast forward to the present where clues begin popping up about the missing couple. Will their families finally get some answers? Another excellent mystery by Lisa Jewell!

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. A great slow burn thriller. Not fast paced but still kept me super intrigued the entire time. If I had the time, I could’ve read this in one sitting. HIGHLY recommend!!

Two people disappear after a party. Are they dead or alive. This book is full of twists. It took me a minute to get into it but once I did it held my interest. The story is told from multiple viewpoints. The ending was a surprise. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Took a little while to get into the meat of this story but well worth the wait. Two young people disappear. Who was responsible? Are they both dead? When a detective series author moves into a countryside village she is drawn into this year old mystery.

I’ve heard of Lisa Jewell - I’ve seen many of her books on the shelves next to other popular mystery writers. I was never interested in reading any of them. For some reason I had a preconceived notion that they would be formulaic forgettable fodder and I didn’t need to bother.
I was given an advanced copy of this book and decided to give it a shot.
Holy smokes am I impressed! This was really riveting.
The story had enough twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my proverbial seat, but even more, it was an impeccably crafted book. I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a movie.
The book switches points of view from three different people in different times over the course of about 18 months. That in itself is a challenging thing to do effectively. Lisa makes it seem easy.
The basic story is that Telulah and Zach are 19 and have a baby. They live with Telulahs mother. One night Telulah and Zach go out, they end up at Scarletts house and they are never seen again. (Side note, Scarlett definitely needs to be portrayed by Billie Eilish of this becomes a movie).
A good story shows how characters evolve over the course of the novel. Many great books, in my mind, don’t exactly evolve the characters as much as they shift the readers understanding of the character so you see them in a completely different way at the end of the book than you did in the beginning. “A Man Called Ove” is probably the best example of that. Lisa Jewell’s “the Night She Disappeared” is another wonderful example.
It’s challenging, as an author, to create one perception of a character and slowly reveal new facts that make you view the character in a different way without changing who they are.
I’m really impressed and can guarantee that I will be picking up other Lisa Jewell books very quickly. Consider me a newly convinced fan.

Another great thriller by Lisa Jewell! This is a story with multiple timelines & POVs, but absolutely kept me interested the entire time. It’s not a very dark thriller, I expected it to be a bit more creepy than it actually turned out to be. Great read, highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley & Simon & Schuster for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

A solid story, in the type of twisty mystery genre I enjoy. Pretty well constructed, with one or two surprises. I just didn’t find anything especially remarkable. Still, it’s one I will recommend to fans of this type of book. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Once again Lisa Jewell has a homerun. This story is absolutely addicting, and does not end anything like you will think. Again, this is another story that you want for it to keep going and going. I feel that all of us will be able to relate to the characters in this story or at least a few of them. This book will definitely be reread and constantly given as a recommendation to others. Anyone looking for a mystery or a great story you can immerse yourself in. Loved it!!!

It's always a fantastic day when a Lisa Jewell novel appears next in my TBR. This time, her upcoming novel, The Night She Disappeared, was a gift from NetGalley. I've read most of the author's later work, and at some point I'll go back to read her earlier novels. So far, this one is in my top two. I think it was the combination of the way in which the story was told and the intricate connections between friends that drew me in, and a lovely twist at the end, of course.
Tallulah and her boyfriend had a baby at 18. Her mother's helping to raise the infant so Tallulah can go to college while the boyfriend works. One night, the young couple goes out to celebrate and they never return. Kim, Tallulah's mother, is devastated and eventually loses hope when a year later, nothing turns up. Fast forward a few months into the future, a new couple moves to town where he's head professor at a school and she's a mystery writer. Odd things begin happening, and a clue to the disappearances is found. What happened?
The story is told in three parts: (1) Tallulah's life prior to the disappearance and how she met Scarlett and other friends, (2) The week of Tallulah's disappearance, and (3) 16 months later when the real clues begin to surface. Immediately, you're hooked. You also don't know until about a third into the book what the current scenes have to do with the earlier ones until it hits you! What a great way to tell the story. I've become pretty obsessed with college thrillers, especially if the twists are as convoluted as this one.
All the things you love about a Jewell novel are present. All the moments of curiosity and strange connections jump out at you. What surprised me the most here was the almost casual way the story was told... not at all bad, but there were very few moments of thrilling page-turning scenes. It was even-paced, but not at all slow or dull. I kept wanting to read more, yet I never worried about skipping paragraphs to get to the good stuff. All the good stuff was there in every scene. Occasionally a bit repetitive about Talullah's relationship with her boyfriend (was he controlling, was he slightly dangerous, was he lying). Sometimes I wondered why many of the kids from the week of the murder were sorta missing and/or not truly grilled by the police.
In the end, I accepted that it was a smaller town and there really weren't any clues. All the kids agreed Tallulah and her boyfriend left the house, and somehow, after that, they went missing. I am now sad to wait at least another 9 months until the author's next book. Definitely a strong read, and probably 4.5 stars, rounded up.

This story was told with three timelines & multiple POVs. While I enjoyed the story & trying to figure out what happened with Zach.& Tallulah, I wanted more from the twist in the end. This will be another good book for you slow burn Lisa Jewell fans. (3.75/5)
Thank you to NetGalley, Lisa Jewell, and Simon & Schuster (Atria Books) for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Jewell has created a thriller that is feels fresh in a genre that has now become oversaturated. This is my first Jewell novel, and you can expect me finding all of her works now.

Interesting structure for a book that worked much better in practice than I thought it would. In fact it seemed to flow seamlessly and add layers and depth to characters. But parts were also infuriating and some characters had absolutely nothing to them at all they were solely plot device. It's a Lisa Jewell book so you know what you're in for and it does move along at a well enough clip. Just not my favorite in what is starting to feel a bit formulaic.
