I enjoyed this book. Nancy always make interesting reads. I will admit that it was a little slow to start with but it turned into a very good novel about families and lovers, well nearly. The twists that came closer to the end made for a very good read. I am giving this 4.5 stars so I will give it 5.

Dreams of a Little Cornish Cottage by Nancy Barone is a clever story about a woman, Nat (Natalia), who seems to serve as the doormat for her entire family. She is recently divorced from Neil, the town's GP, and instead of a cash settlement she got the family home, which was full of "family heirlooms" from his side of the family. She was currently cleaning that all out so she could sell up. Since she had five bedrooms, she had decided to rent on out and so had posted advertisements to that effect and had gotten her first call. She was nervous. He was on his way. In an amusing twist, she daydreamed she was interviewing him for a gigolo position. After determining he was a good fit (for both positions) they arranged that he would move in the following day. All of a sudden her sister, who had a popular television cooking show, was dropping her twin daughters of for an indeterminate length of time. Then, while in the village, she felt compelled to drop in on her mother, where she determined the older woman had sprained her ankle and was unable to walk, so she brought her home, too. So, it was chaos when Connor arrived. Then things got really chaotic.

This was a fun book with several unexpected plot turns. Since Nat was 39, younger people tended to view her as "old," including her daughters and her new boss. She had been writing an extremely popular column in a woman's magazine for the past 13 years and at this point, it was how she was paying the bills. She and her sister had always had a fraught relationship, so that is one point of connection for any of us that have sisters. She was so sexually frustrated that her daydreams of Connor were beyond ridiculous. Barone has written an extremely amusing piece of women's' fiction and should be applauded for hitting the nail on the head. The characters in this book are funny and real: the ex who left for a younger woman and now wants to come home; the celebrity sister who doesn't seem to understand what her responsibilities are; the young, hot lodger, who wants to be her friend, and an elderly mother who has never liked her. It's all right on!

I liked other books by this author but this one wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't liked the characters and the story fell flat.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This book was a great read, with a lovely twist at the end. Natalie Amore has split from her husband after he cheated on her. She lives in the huge ex marital home but feels lost and has her eye on a dream cottage in the village. She advertises for a lodger to help pays the bills. Lovely Irish Connor becomes her lodger and causes a bit of a stir in the family. She is treated badly by her boss and also has an aging mother. The book follows her through getting her life back on track with some amusing quirks.

I hadn't read any of Nancy's books before but thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more in the future. I could imagine the little cove in Cornwall and the habourside cottages.

I would class this as a holiday read with a lovely feel good factor.

4 stars
Ever since I read "No Room At The Cornish Inn," I have been a fan of author Nancy Barone's books.
This is heart warming contemporary romance about family and learning to love yourself again.
This book is about Nathalia, a 39 year old divorcee who decided to take in an IT Lawyer lodger named Connor to order make some extra cash. But things begin to unravel when Nathalia suddenly has to look after her mother after a fall, one of her daughters moves back in after splitting up with her boyfriend and her two nieces whilst their mother works abroad.
I really enjoyed the setting, characters and storyline. The beginning of this story was a bit slow, at the beginning, but as the story progressed, the pacing picked up and held my interest until the very end.
This book was the very definition of slow burn. While I did not agree with all of the choices Connor made, I really liked how much he just wanted all the best for Nathalia. He was willing to help her bear the burdens of others' responsibilities that were placed on her. Nathalia was a bit of a weak character at the beginning of the story. She seemed to let everyone around her, but especially her sister, mother, and ex husband walk all over her. But after spending time with Connor, he helps her to begin to advocate for herself and became all the stronger for it. I really did not like Neil or Yolanda, Nathalia's sister. Both were just selfish individuals and only interacted with Nathalia when they needed something. I did not really buy into Yolanda's sudden 180, at the end, to become a caring and involved mother. The book had a lot of secrets revealed that I did not see coming and were realistic. The ending did a great job wrapping up the entire story! I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a feel good romance. I can't wait to read more books by this author in the future.

After kicking her cheating husband out and ending up with a huge 5 bedroom detached house as part of the divorce settlement, Natalie still feels lost.  Her kids have moved out and she's just rattling around in her old marital home - what she really wants is a quiet little cottage down in the village.  But just as things too quiet for her, her sister drops her twin nieces off on the doorstep for a few months, and her heartbroken daughter returns.  Then on top of it all her Mother has a fall and also moves in!

She's the glue that keeps the family together and never puts herself first.  Until gorgeous Connor comes into her life and nudges her to realise she's important too.  But can the things she wants really come true?

The first chapter will have you wondering where the story is going - but it's actually very funny! The storyline turns out to be heartwarming and cosy although it will certainly make you wonder what's going to happen at times.  There were twists in this that I didn't expect AT ALL and they were brilliant.

Nat is a wonderful character, although at times I definitely felt like she was feeling old before her time! At 37 I'm not far off and would like to think my mentality hasn't reached that point just yet!  Understandably, having been cheated on by her husband and father of her kids, her self-esteem is pretty low, and she puts everyone's needs above her own.  Even to the point where she has her nieces for months on end because her sister just swans off to work!!  She is so lovely though, and it was heartwarming seeing her realise that she was also important.  I genuinely wanted to the best for her and for her to get everything she wanted. Connor is literally the world's perfect man. Gorgeous, fantastic with children, handy, friendly, caring......but is he too good to be true?

The setting is idyllic.  I love a book set in Cornwall, and this is in a small little village, out of the way without many tourists (sounds like the dream place!).  It's another one that will definitely make you want to visit.

So if you're looking for a heartwarming, romantic read with some big twists in a beautiful setting then you should check this out! Recommended by me.

Dreams of a Little Cornish Cottage is a first person romance novel set in the small town of Wyllow Cove in the UK. It tells the tale from Natalia Amore’s point of view. Natalia, recently divorced, is attempting a second chance at life. Nearing the dreaded mid-life crisis stage, and a little strapped financially, Natalia is forced to take on a boarder. That boarder just happens to be a handsome hunk of a man named Connor Wright.

As one may guess, taking on Connor as a live-in can lead to some complications. Especially since Connor is also a recent divorcee and several years younger. Add in Natalia’s sister Yolanda’s twin girls and her mother Beryl to the mix and you have a complex family drama with a bit of romance.

To me, Dreams of a Little Cornish Cottage is more Women’s Fiction than a Romance novel. The focus of the novel is primarily on Natalia’s family life and how she evolves into an independent woman on the verge of hitting the “Big 4-0.”

The characters in the novel are well developed as I found myself really disliking Yolanda with her cavalier attitude, and at the same time admiring Natalia for her perseverance.

The plot is simple yet there are some suspenseful moments that made for a bit of page turning “can’t put it down yet” phases. Twists are sprinkled here and there, which kept me engaged till the end. However, as a US based reader, I did find some of the UK vernacular a little strange and distracting. But it really didn’t spoil the story.

Overall, Dreams of a Little Cornish Cottage is an excellent novel worthy of four glowing stars.

I struggled with this book to be honest. The age gap between the two main characters, Nat and Connor, was made out to be such a big deal but it's nothing! 6 years at the most is almost irrelevant but it's made out to be catastrophic. I just couldn't get on board with this book from that point on and although Nat is fairly sweet she frustrated me. The story/timeline jumped around a bit and 'the big twist' just fell a bit flat for me. Think I'll stick to reading thrillers - this one was not for me. Disappointing - sorry.

I've enjoyed other books by this author, so I'm not really sure where this one went off track for me, but it did. The story seemed to drag, moved in fits and starts throughout, and yes, portraying the 6 year age gap as a big deal was annoying.

I'm sure others really enjoyed this book, and it won't stop me from reading others by this author, but not this one.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

I am sorry but I didn't finish this book, at 27% in it felt like it had gone and was going nowhere, there is only so many times we can hear that "Connor" is an amazing/handsome guy and that her mother doesn't like her but she moved her in anyway, will probably skip to the end but I don't think I will have missed much, its not often I dislike a character, but so far there is nothing to like about any of them.

Who would leave two small girls with a man they had just met, it left me feeling very anxious.

I hate giving bad reviews but I just couldn't read anymore.

Well I’m gonna keep this short and relatively sweet. The beginning of this started strong-full of double entendres but it went, not necessarily downhill, but in a defense downward slope from there. The main character, Nat, advertises for a lodger in her giant house, and gets one, along with her sister’s twins (their mother is famous and doesn’t have time for them) and her mother, who has been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, so the house is full. He ex of course wants her back, but he’s a total jerk, as we’re a mojority of the characters-even the kids were quite unlikeable. When Nat falls for her lodger, things get even more complicated when his past gets revealed and things aren’t what they seem.
I liked the premise of this and it could have been fun. But the execution was for sure lacking and the dialogue was rough at times. And even more so, the timelines were all over the place. Some points skipped all over the place and then other points it took 2 pages for her to figure out how to work the tea kettle. The idea of living in a little Cornish Village saved it for me, and the descriptions of the houses were lovely.
Thanks to Aria Books and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

A real feel good romantic read about family and learning to love yourself again.
Natalia was a warm, friendly woman - always putting everyone else first - and it was lovely seeing her regain the confidence to be herself again. I loved how she cared for nieces and Beryl, her mum.
Nancy Barone writes with such humour and her characters are always such fun and totally engaging. A really heartwarming, easy to read story.

This book was a good read with a huge twist at the end i wasnt expecting.

Natalie Amore has kicked her GP husband Neil out of their mega mansion. She is the sister of famous chef Yolanda who dumps her children on Natalie to swan off around the world working whenever she feels like it. On top of that Nat has 2 grown daughters, a mother with care needs and so she decides to advertise for a lodger to help pay the bills.
Connor is in his early 30s, attractive, charming and Natalie soon falls head over heels. However Connor is hiding a massive secret which could change the lives of Natalies entire family.

Good read, enjoyed it a lot.

The title is accurate because it about Nat's dreams of a cottage, she want to move to.

++contains spoilers""

I liked some of the story, but struggled with the timeline of the book, it seemed to jump around and not quite make sense. I could follow it but it seemed not quite right.

I was expecting Connor to somehow be related to Natalia and expected it to come out in the story line around her mother Alzheimer, especially with the red herring when a brother was mentioned a couple of times and Nat ponders on why there are no photos of her mother pregnant with her. This left me feeling uncomfortable because of the blossoming relationship. I could not see how this worked and obviously it didn't and was not the story, but made for hard read because I had this in the back of my mind.

The final reveal was not what I was expecting and to be honest made me feel almost as uncomfortable as the one I had imagined was coming. A man who lies to get into a house to get close to his possible daughters. all seemed a bit too strange and then marries their aunt.

I also felt the age difference was made out to be huge when in reality it was 5-6 years and that is not such a big deal.

Sadly this was not the book for me but I am sure others will enjoy it.

Not really sure where this story was going. A 6 year age gap between the 2 main characters was made out to be a big thing but it isn’t really. Connor is really too good to be true and Nat fantasising about him was more related to a teenager rather than a nearly 40 divorcee. The fact he was the father of her nieces and he was trying to get close to them was a bit much. I wanted to slap her sister for being so self centred and dumping her kids on Nat and the being so ungrateful about it. Not really sure why mothers dementia being discovered was such a big thing either. The story didn’t flow well in places. It would go along nicely then all of a sudden weeks had gone by. Did struggle with it but glad I finished it.

Dreams of a Little a Cornish Cottage by Nancy Baron Wythe was sweeter than cotton candy! I loved No Room at the Little Cornish Inn and was so excited to see Wythe’s newest book! This one was a perfect cottage-core, cozy romance set in Cornwall!

Natalia’s on her own after divorcing her cheating husband she posts an ad for a lodger and gets more than she bargained for with charming Connor! Her adult daughter moves back home and her sister drops off twin nieces and her mother needs caring so the once empty house is bursting at the seems. But never fear Connor carries everyone on his brawny shoulders. He’s always flirting and happy to help out! Could it be be lust, love or too good to be true? Find out in this lovely book!

Is six years too big of an age difference if it's the woman who is older? Nat thinks so even though Conor is, well someone she's very much attracted to. Nat's filling up her house with her nieces, her mother, and now Conor but she's still wishing to be in a little cottage. I usually really like books set in Cornwall but this one needed some rethinking. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

The story of Nathalia, a 39 year old divorcee who takes in IT Lawyer lodger Connor to make some extra cash while trying to sell the family home post divorce to buy her dream cottage.

Things I like.
The storyline build up with Connors secret was done relatively well. I also loved the descriptions of the Cornish coast and the little town.

Things I didn't really like.
The passing of time was really strange in this book. The characters would be doing things and then all of a sudden without comment really the story skips weeks and weeks. Made it difficult to follow and maintain the flow of the story, The majority of the first part of the book was quite unnecessary whereas the last part (25% or so) was actually the bulk of the story, The focus and complaining about the 6 years age difference was incessant and really not necessary for the story. The entire dementia story with her mother was overdone and not really relevant to anything in the story - wasn't like some desperate family secret came out etc.

I was waiting on an ending for the ex-husband as in there was some real final resolution there. It was really not explored. The characters were not all fleshed out and really seemed redundant at times - Lizzie the second daughter and Mags the BFF.

SPOILERS

Connor was an ok character but the storyline of him lying about his name and who he was just felt icky and creepy. Especially as he was trying to be near the kids. He didn't seem to be an alpha hero but more of a wimpy, shy one with no confidence. Also the fact that he had twins with her sister was just yuck. You really want to be able to put yourself in the hero/heroines place and this was just somewhere that I wasn't prepared to go.

Its not often I read a romance/womans fiction novel that really leaves me feeling icky and not happy afterwards. Definitely not a book I would choose to read again but I will try another by this author.
