Another winner! I absolutely love the way this writer just draws you in and keeps you engaged. This book had twists and turns and an ending I didn’t see coming. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.
Miranda never ceases to amaze me with her books. She has written another jaw-dropping thriller. I enjoyed that it centres around being an ‘influencer’, I thought it was really clever. This book is the definition of psychological thriller. Dark, creepy and shocking. I read this in one day, I couldn’t put it down. An outstanding page-turner. I thoroughly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, Miranda Rijks and Inkubator Books for an ARC in return for an honest review.
I thought this book was so current what with social media as it is today! A fabulous read and I’ll definitely be on the look out for this author in the future.
I can say this book really played with my head because of this reality of the social media issue. Everybody thinks they would love to be an influencer and a ton of reality stars have made it their mission to be an influencer for all our kids today. Everyone has an agenda and I feel an influencer is using exactly that.
Lots of twists and turns what I love! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What Next...?
A social media star, loved by her followers, adored by many, she is now rich and powerful beyond belief but what exactly does she want next? A well paced psychological suspense with a credible cast and a twisting storyline and surprises along the way. A gripping read from first to last page.
Nathan is widowed with two teenage daughters and a fiancee. He runs a local homeless charity in memory of his wife. When social media influencer Skye offers to promote the charity Nathan accepts her offer. But Skye has another reason for backing Nathan and his life starts to fall apart. Miranda Rijks at her very best.
Perhaps a bit easy to guess what's happening, though there is a bit at the end which precludes a wholly happy ending, which I liked! I didn't get any true sense of apprehension, or wondering what might happen next. A few unanswered questions niggle a bit, but not I think entirely the fault of the author - a stricter more detail oriented editor would have helped with that. Not a great read, but not a bad one.
I have such a love-hate relationship with this book, it started so strong with a really good narrative style that kept hinting subtly at what was going to happen next....
And then it flattened, the storyline got so repetitive, it was all about how pushy Skye was and how desperate Nathan became because of her one-sided advances, but what kept my interest throughout the book was the writing style.
I liked how the author gave every character a humane feeling, like there wasn't good and bad characters, they were all human, they had their faults and demons, which i really liked.
I think it would've been better if the book was shorter, because it would have made a really good impression if it was more through to the point.
Overall, quite enjoyable.

Nathan runs a charity that helps homeless people and is named after his late wife. When Skye, an influencer that his 2 teenage daughters are crazy about, wants to promote the charity, it seems like great publicity, but she seems to have other motives and causes problems between Nathan and his fiance.
This was a quick and easy read. It seemed current because it was centered around an influencer. I feel like I sniffed out what was going on pretty early and therefore there wasn't a big surprise when things were revealed, but still not a bad read overall. I have mostly enjoyed this author's work and am sure I will read more from her.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I have read several books by Miranda Rijks novels and always look forward to her newest publication. Miranda has a way of writing that draws you in right away and you find out you can't turn the pages fast enough to find out what is happening. All in all an excellent read that will captivate you until the very last sentence.
I recommend that you read it now!!!!

Skye Walker (Just Skye, please) is a social media influencer, worshipped by millions. Nathan is the head of a small charity, Sacha’s Sanctuary, in memory of his late wife. His charity supports the homeless and Skye, formerly homeless, would like to support his charity at no cost to him.
Her homelessness jump started her career and how she got herself off the streets. There is an old saying that when something seems too good to be true, usually it is. While Nathan does not know who she is, his teenage daughters do and urge him to take the offer.
As Skye gets more involved with Sacha’s Sanctuary, Nathan feels she wants to be more involved in his personal life than he is comfortable with. She seems to show up wherever he is and more concernedly, where his daughters are, he realizes their business partnership really is too good to be true. When things spiral out of control and he starts to distance himself from Skye, Nathan’s world falls apart. When his beloved fiancé, Marie, leaves him, it forces him to decide if Skye’s involvement in his charity is worth the extra money she is bringing in.
Skye is a very well written character, and the author does an outstanding job of describing what goes on behind the scenes of an influencer. Skye starts out as such a likeable character, but starts to crack almost immediately. The Influencer begins when she is a teenager and homeless, having just been rescued by a wealthy teen, Tiffany, unhappy with her own home life. The character development is spot on with both Nathan and Skye.
The Influencer is told from two points of view – Nathan’s and Skye’s, and it really helps the reader with what their thoughts are. It also moves the story along at a nice pace. The reader can see exactly when the story turns and becomes dangerous. The book also flashes back to Skye’s story with Tiffany, which helps us see who Skye was before she became an influencer.
This book had all the things that make up a psychological thriller: anticipation, suspense, well-written dialogue and many gasp worthy moments. As the reader, I felt engaged with the characters and story line and was excited to find out the next twist. The very last twist at the end was very unexpected and makes me wonder if there will be another book starring that character. The Influencer is a roller coaster of emotions, but one you won’t want to get off of too quickly.
This book goes from past to present and told from the point of view of Skye Walker and Nathan Edwards.
Skye Walker is a sensation and well known for bringing attention to brands through her social media sites. She built herself up after coming from a background of being put in foster care due to her mother being on drugs, and then homeless. Skye's agent suggests for Skye to get involved in a charity which will boost her image.
Nathan Edwards is a widow with two teenage daughters, and now engaged to the live-in au pair, Marie. Nathan runs Sacha's Sanctuary, a homeless charity set up in Nathan's former wife's name. The goal is to banish homelessness.
Skye picks Sacha's Sanctuary to represent it, and while Nathan's daughters are well aware of who Skye is, Nathan isn't. Nathan is appreciative of the promised funds that Skye will be donating.
What starts as a business adventure, turns into something entirely different when Skye sets her sights on Nathan. Skye always gets what she wants. The more Nathan attempts to clarify, the more Skye hooks herself into his personal life.
I enjoyed the story, but have to admit that I figured it out well before the ending. There were plenty of twists to keep me entertained, and the ending had a development that I didn't see coming.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley via Inkubator Books and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
Skye Walker is a sadistic manipulator that lives off influencing the world. Nathan Edwards is a widower that runs a homeless charity Sachas Sanctuary. Sky sets her sights in Edward and there is your book.
This book, The Influencer, is fast paced and a quick read. It is hard to put down but also pretty predictable. The ending though is a surprise.
Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC of this book.
It’s a great day when a néw Miranda Rijks pops up and an even better day once you start reading this tricky thriller about Skye, a perfect made-for-the-internet star who rose from homelessness to a major influencer with millions of followers. The story here is fascinating, wicked, and unpredictable just the way I like it! I’ve read all of Miranda’s books and each is better than the next. I know to expect a wild story and this is certainly a wild ride. I loved every word, page, and chapter of this riveting read.
A must-read! I was on a road trip recently so didn’t get to read much while I was gone but I did manage to read The Influencer by Miranda Rijks– a fast-moving, quick story about a famous social media influencer who decides to champion a small charity and ends up trying to enmesh herself into the family. I was glued to the pages, wondering how it was all going to play out. This is fast-moving and intriguing.
She is worshipped by millions. But she has a secret…
Adored by her legions of followers, social media megastar Skye is an inspiration. Once homeless, she is now fantastically wealthy, enormously powerful. A ‘like’ from Skye can literally change your life.
So when she suggests partnering with Nathan’s charity for the homeless, he thinks it’s a match made in heaven. With Skye’s backing, who knows what he can achieve? And no-one is more excited than Nathan’s teenage daughters, both massive fans of the star.
But Skye’s influence comes at a price. Yes, funds are pouring into Nathan’s charity, but she is a smothering presence, seemingly determined to insert herself into every nook and cranny of his family life.
Nathan’s daughters are thrilled to have so much up close and personal contact with a superstar. But he worries about Skye’s growing influence on them… And is it just a coincidence that ever since she’s been around, his personal life is disintegrating?
As things spiral out of control, Nathan begins to wonder what Skye really wants from him and his daughters. The answer is more terrifying than he could ever imagine…
If you love suspense or mysteries then you will want to read this. Miranda Rijks is definitely an author I’ll be keeping my eye on for future books.
Woooooow this is so gripping! Absolutely loved this thriller, it's got so many twists I couldn't put it down at all. My jaw was on the floor at some of the crazy goings on! Brilliant writing and a hugely entertaining book overall, will definitely be on the lookout for more from Miranda Rijks.
I really enjoy Miranda Rijks novels, she has a way of writing addictive psychological thrillers that are page turners. This is another one that got me and was rapidly turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. Very good characters, addictive plot and well paced make this an excellent read.
Widower Nathan is bringing up his two daughters following the tragic death of his wife Sacha and has started Sacha’s Sanctuary, a charity for the homeless in her memory. Everything is looking good for the charity when social media influencer Skye shows an interest. Skye makes it clear that she wants to support Sacha’s Sanctuary but her involvement in Nathan’s family life is a bit full on. Nathan is not happy with Skye’s attention for his family but is aware that her help supporting the charity would be invaluable. Nathan’s daughters love the attention Skye is giving them but it is causing a lot of problems for him.
The book is well written and certainly addictive, not the most likeable characters but are very enjoyable to read. Another addictive winner for me.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Inkubator for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Story flowed nicely making this a relatively quick read. Great characters even though I really disliked them; they were do well written.. A real eye opener regarding social media influencer.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.
I absolutely loved this thriller by Mirand Rijks! I highly recommend it.
Definately a twisted read and full of suspense. Kept me on the edge of my seat and read in one sitting.
I just finished this one and truth be told, I couldn’t put it down! It had me hooked from the start.
There are some obvious issues with logic and I was able to deduce the basic plot fairly quickly, but the story was very well written and that ending was a BOMB in all the very best ways!
I am always here for a twisty tale and this one delivered that, hot and ready, on every front. I’ll certainly never hear “just homework” in the same way!
The Influencer was a fast, light read. The writing was so good I didn't want to put this book down. Nathan was a weak character. so I did not find him sympathetic at all. Skye was a wonderful character and I was rooting for her....until I wasn't.. The story was great, and I liked how Skye started out as a sympathetic character then turned out to be annoying. Was it just the fame and fortune ??
I absolutely did not like the very end, it actually made no sense to me. But I enjoyed most of the book and the writng kept me reading!
