This was cute! An easy read but a lesson that will stay with kiddos. I will be making an eepworm for my nephew, for sure!
This is a good book for young children who are struggling to process difficult feelings. The accompanying toys (sold separately) are a good tool, as well. This is a must for anyone helping raise emotionally intelligent and self-aware children.
Eepworms are very cute and I love the illustrations. I did get the feeling that the book is there to sell eepworms, more than to tell a story or entertain the child, but my kids didn't seem to mind.
Thanks again to NetGalley for the free book.
This was a really cute book about Eepworms (or other toys/items) that can help with brain disorders such as bipolar or autism. I like the beautiful and soft illustrations, as well.
This is a very cute book. I imagine the intent is to bundle this book with an "eepworm" doll. I could see this really helping kids manage their emotions and comforting them when they are having big feelings. I appreciated the definition and the author's note as well. Well done!
This is a nice simple story, though I wish it had been a little longer. Lovely illustrations and nice simple story.
EEPWORMS may just be my new favourite things! I was pleasantly surprised by this book both as a children’s story book and a potential Counselling resource for children with special needs. I absolutely love how cute the illustrations are and how simple the story is to read and follow. Appropriate for very young children and yet it still tugs at my own 23-year-old heartstrings. I will most definitely be recommending this to my counselling colleagues and library buddies!
A short fun story for young children about friendship . Very nice for children who are above 4 , really simple and it is these books that keep children engaged and get them into reading .
Eepworms is a toy for children dealing with feelings that are too big for them to manage. The text is helpful in how Eepworms are used to deal with those feelings for children and teaches parents how to help their children deal with those feelings.
Behavioral problems might indicate that your child may not be dealing with their feelings well. They can get overwhelmed with feelings of despair, fear, insecurities and anger. A tool for parents and children.
A special thank you to Early Childhood Specialties and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Teaching kids to sit with and overcome fears, uncomfortable experiences and further empowering them with techniques to distract and overcome these feelings.
Sometimes feelings can be big, bigger than what a little child can hold. With the assistance of Eepworms, though, those big feelings don't have to be so overwhelming. I loved everything about this book. The words were encouraging and easy to read and the illustrations were done in a simple yet meaningful style. I was whispering "Yes!" to myself when I read the note to parents. Overall, I cannot praise this book enough. Not only will I purchase it for my classroom, knowing I'll find many occasions where it will be helpful, but I'll definitely be recommending it to parents and quoting it in my conversations with children and parents alike.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me my first of many copies of this delightful little book.
I absolutely love the trend in children's books to talk about feelings and how everyone struggles with them and has them. This particular book introduces the character of the eepworm. A physical toy that I assume comes with the book that is a starting point for discussing emotions with children.
The watercolor artwork was absolutely stunning but I had a hard time seeing how the eepworm and emotions were connected. Perhaps, since this is the introduction, this will be discussed in further books but I am not sure.
This book has a good message about validating and dealing with feelings. On its own, it wasn't an exceptional story; it definitely needs to be paired with the eepworm toy to be meaningful.
Thank you to NetGalley and Early Childhood Specialties for providing me with a copy of My Friend EEPWORM in exchange for an honest review!
Ok, to be completely honest, I downloaded this book the second I saw its cover because it was just too cute to resist. I spent the next 10 minutes just repeating the word "eepworm" over and over again because it's just so fun to say. I ended up really liking the book, even though I got it without knowing anything about it.
My Friend EEPWORM is a picture book about a little, squishy toy called an EEPWORM that will be with you through all your big emotions. It's targeted at children with sensory issues and children learning how to handle big emotions. The illustrations are super cute and use a lot of soft colors, which makes the book visually very comforting. I really appreciated this book for many reasons, the primary being I was one of the kids this book is targeted at. I would carry around a little stuffed animal to help me ground myself and stay calm when things got overwhelming in the face of my ASD and anxiety. It really worked, so I totally buy the whole concept of an EEPWORM friend. I believe the physical copy of the book comes with an EEPWORM toy, which is of course adorable. I also really appreciated the parent/guardian guide in the beginning. Too many adults don't know how to help the kids in their life when things get overwhelming, and I thought it was a good reminder that it's our responsibility to help them learn how to manage their own big feelings. I highly recommend My Friend EEPWORM!
This is such a great book with such an important message. Children’s feelings can be so hard for them to understand. We definitely need more books like this one.
I loved this cute little story. I can imagine how perfect it would be for younger students coping with new transition and changes. I also think it could be a powerful tool when explaining "fidget tolls" to other students!
My Friend EEPWORM is a cute little book that talks about children with big feelings, and how a beloved toy (like an eepworm) can help
The book opens with tips for parents and teachers to help kids deal with difficult emotions, which was a great addition to the core book aimed at kids. It includes simple, helpful techniques to aid adults in helping kids in their lives deal with difficult feelings, including things you can explain to your child to make them feel less alone ("Managing feelings is hard, even for grown-ups") and techniques to help them cope ("Try rocking them, singing a soothing song, reducing sound or light levels.") .
My Friend EEPWORM shows how a beloved toy can not only be a comfort when life is rough, but also a source of joy when things are going well. A book like this that explores how children can use the tools at their disposal to deal with their emotions can be a great tool for any family, but especially one that includes a child dealing with especially big and complicated feelings.
What a beautiful book for children who are having trouble communicating their emotions or those who need a bit more sensory play. I especially loved the notes to educators and parents at the beginning! Goyette does a great job helping a student feel comfortable with all the ways to use an eepworm or sensory tool!
This is such a sweet book with such an important message! It is really important to help our children understand their feelings are valid and there will always be someone - or something- there to guide them through it. And My Friend EEPWORM is exactly that!
Beautiful watercolor illustrations! I wasn't familiar with eepworms, but this was such a darling book and sounds like a brilliant way to help children through their feelings. Easy to follow along and short enough to not completely lose readers with short attention spans. It also provides plenty of opportunities for further dialogue about the discussed emotions if the child you are reading to is ready.
