You know those books you can read over and over again because every single thing written in it makes you feel good deep down to your soul? That’s how I feel when I read Satisfied. When a book can take me through a whirlwind of emotions and makes me think, makes me weep, makes me understand why some things in my life are happening, it’s a book that I will tell everyone about.
I first heard about this book through Alyssa’s Instagram posts. I’ve read several books her and her husband, Jeff Bethke have written and each one has resonated in my heart. Her beautiful family holds the same values as I do, so anything they choose to put out, I always buy.
But there was something different about this book. Alyssa shared inserts from different chapters on Instagram as well as in emails. Each one touched my heart, but this particular one hit home for me:
“The Trap Of Comparison.”
I always found myself in constant comparison with other women. Being a millennial Christian woman, the comparison train doesn’t stop.
I just KNEW I needed this book.
Alyssa tells her personal stories of loss, grief, love, hope, hopelessness, loneliness, motivation, and satisfaction in a way that can make you feel like you’re sitting there with her, chatting away with an old friend.
Every chapter she highlights on how she feels in the situations she’s going through and how her love of the Lord heals her soul through her hardships.
She speaks truth in our pursuits for Jesus, faithfully reminding us that our lives are in His hands and for us to be truly Satisfied, we must lean on Him and trust that no matter how hard things are, we can make it through.
Page after page, not only her words captivate the reader, but she shares beautiful photos of her family, friends, home, and life so we get a glimpse into who Alyssa is.
Beginning each chapter with a verse from the Bible, Alyssa shares her stories in which that particular verse helps her in her hour of need.
This book is beautiful, bold, and just the right thing every person needs in their life to feel Satisfied.
Satisfied by Alyssa Joy Bethke was a lovely read! I'd say definitely more than satisfying and I'll certainly come back to her wisdom!
This book was beautiful inside and out and I loved the recipes too!! It’s perfect for a coffee table book or to read a few times a year. I also received a devotional that was really good as well!
This was a great encouraging read by Alyssa Bethke. I have previously read books by her & her husband. This meets you right where you are shows you how to navigate in those feelings of satisfaction. Well done.
So thankful for Alyssa's heart in writing this book. I read it in one sitting and was encouraged by her transparency and wisdom in handling every day triumphs and discouragements.
This would be a great gift for a new mom and would make a beautiful coffee table book.
Thank you so much to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a gorgeous book that would grace any coffee table.
But it goes beyond just a simple pretty cover. Alyssa's words are transparent, heartfelt, and you can tell that she has a heart for women. I loved reading her stories and felt like I got to know her a lot better. These short chapters will inspire your heart and mind as you draw closer to Christ.
This book was not what I expected. I went into it thinking it was going to be practical tips to find contentment in whatever stage of life you’re in but it was more like a series of short essays on a wide array of life topics. Think Shauna Niequist but without the sketchy theology.
Some chapters seemed fluffy and a little shallow while others were very deep. That may be a case of some chapters being more relatable to me than others.
Alyssa is very real about her own struggles with satisfaction and contentment while also sharing hope. When she has seen improvement, she shares from the other side or at least further down the road. Where she is still struggling, she shares the small victories but she doesn’t sugar coat things.
The writing is beautiful and the book is stunning. It’s a book but also a piece of art.
I loved the message of this book and her heart behind it. I often look at my circumstances and am disconnected. I loved how each chapter helped us to find satisfaction in Jesus alone. As a bonus, the book is gorgeous and I loved the recipes in the back of the book.
While the beautiful island photography was beautiful, this felt like more of a coffee table book than I was originally expecting. Alyssa discusses the topic of cultivating contentment but I would have loved to see more emotional depth here. Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be that kind of book. Overall, a nice read about simple living.
OK I have been, waiting for this book for months. I literally squealed, when I saw it on net galley. and just about yelled in the library. when I got the email that I was excepted.
It didn’t disappoint at all, it’s cute and fun and suites. Cannot wait to try some of the recipes in the back. I love the story and the connection with God and Jesus that this book has.
And yet still doubts and fears or shared
Also it’s absolutely gorgeous and the layout is brilliant. Definitely, going to be adding this to the suggested list for my young women’s group book study.
Highly recommend lots of fun super sweet and enjoyable read book . 🥰

I am reviewing a copy of Satisfied: FindingHope, Joy, and Contentment Right Where You Are through Worthy Publishing and Netgalley:
In this book we are reminded the importance of not focusing on what we lack, but instead focus on what we have.
Satisfied focuses on subjects such as fear, worry, dissatisfaction, anxiety, and body image. Alyssa Bethke walks you through issues that rob you of your joy and helps you recognize them for what they are: distractions. With all of its expectations and contradictions, this world can take a major toll on us. Be skinny, but not too skinny. Contradictions such as work and hustle but stay home and be a good Mom are also addressed. As well as being wild and free , but clean and tidy and pure. Love your husband but be independent
In Satisfied Alyssa Bethke shares a compelling collection of relatable essays that will help you embrace and cultivate beauty in your life. Along with healthy recipes and cozy home images. Satisfied will help you come to the knowledge that you are not alone in your fight to be fulfilled. Alyssa shows you the ways in which you are enough—not only for those around you, but for yourself.
I give Satisfied five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

I'm familiar with Alyssa Joy Bethke and her husband so I had a lot of interest in reading her new book, Satisfied. I enjoyed reading little bits of this book each night as I settled down to sleep. It was a great reminder in gratitude and thankfulness for both the little and big things in life!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great book. It was filled with helpful advice and it gave me a lot to think about.
I’m not a religious person. At all. For some reason this book called to me. I’m so glad I took the chance and read this even though it’s not my usual genre. This line spoke to my soul “Here I was doing something so mundane, so simple, AND YET I WAS SATISFIED” I craved that. This book is a wonderful glimpse at a faith lead life. The pictures are beautiful and the recipes in the back of the book are easy and delicious looking.
Alyssa has a way of speaking into your life through a book as a gentle friend. I loved getting a glimpse into her own life and story! The pictures are beautiful, the words and encouraging and insightful, highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this beautiful book from Alyssa. Reading it was like sitting down for coffee with her and having her speak gentle truths and encouragement straight to my heart. She even shared some incredible recipes in the back!
Alyssa Bethke really made something special with this book! Reading it felt like sitting down with her for a cup of coffee and listening to her talk and share her heart. She has a way of writing that really makes you feel like you’re having a conversation. Everything she said was so impactful and articulate. Her stories were funny and insightful and heartbreaking and sweet. She gave me so many ideas of things I want to incorporate into my life to help me slow down and enjoy my people and live well.
The ebook was absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to get the hard copy and look through it all and read it again!
Order this book! You will love it!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Alyssa has a way with words that make you feel like you are sitting with your best girl and chatting about life. In Satisfied, she weaves personal stories, with Biblical principles, on how to live a life of Satisfaction in the season that God has placed you in. This is a book that you can pick up in any season of life and feel full and encouraged to keep pressing forward toward all God has for you.
When I received my copy of Alyssa's book, I was both surprised and concerned. She is a young mom and I have grandchildren, but I approached the book with the attitude that we are all learning and teaching each other simultaneously. Little did I know the season of loss that would hit our home and the comfort I would find in the pages of Satisfied. Alyssa addresses topics that transcend life's seasons and get to the heart of finding rest in God's all-sufficiency. With a style that was like chatting on the couch with a friend, Alyssa shares authentically and simply her struggles in the mundane and the momentous moments of life, and finding God in it all. Because of its simplicity, I found the hug I needed at a time I needed on the pages of this work of heart. Bought three more copies to give away.
Satisfied was a heart humbling, get your mind back on Jesus and take a breath kind of read! It was as if I was reading someone’s personal journal and looking at their family photo album, while realizing the blessings all around me. I am a fast reader, but I took my time with this book. Instead, I took my time and savored every moment with my Jesus. Each chapter helped me remember that with Jesus first, He will satisfy us where we need it. This is perfect to read as a devotional or as a bedtime book to bring your day into perspective.
