The Text God: Text and You Shall Receive
by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers
A very cheesy romance almost difficult to believe any
One is as gullible as the main character is almost cringe worthy especially as the story is set in New York but an easy read if the reader is looking for a fun quick story. Not for me.
While this started really well, the concept of the text misunderstanding got stale very quickly, and by 20% of the book, was still a 'thing' just started to sound a bit pulled from all sides. Heroine was funny at first, but again, still going on and on about GOD texting her got annoying really fast, and the book seemed to stick to this vein for a long time, which lost me along the way. Had the misunderstanding been cleared within 20% of the book, it could've rolled differently. Plus the fact the hero was in a committed relationship when he started having the hots for the heroine - just no!
Thank you netgalley and publisher for opportunity to read and review this book.
This book was part of a series (didn’t realize at first-and not the first time this has happened to me in this genre). Nonetheless you don’t need to read the first one to know what’s going on. The story and location were well done. It was a very quick read. The main female character was slightly annoying in how dumb she was but there were some really funny parts. I liked all the background characters more (Gabes parents, her friends, etc). Overall I would read the others in this series.
Sweet, fun story, but a bit hard to believe someone this naive would survive in New York City (and in law!). Go in willing to suspend disbelief on the premise and it's an enjoyable romance.
I knew from the description that this would be a little juvenile for my liking.
The characters were okay, and the connection felt real, but it was just lacking something that would give it the edge and make it good.
Too predictable.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for this kind of cheesy romance! It's unique but it has that kind of cheese that has you laughing and smiling! I loved this book, it was too cute!
I understand suspension of disbelief, and I was hoping that would carry me through this one, but it was a little much for me. A quick read but not one I'm impressed by. The writing itself was good but I found myself cringing at too much of the overall plot.
This was a sweet, fun rom com that was a lot of fun to read. As things slowly get revealed things get more interesting. A hilarious read.
While this book had some cute parts, I think the over all story was a little much for me.
I understand it's a fictional rom-com. But to actually believe God is texting you, was a little much for me.
3 stars because the book was written very well and had some really good parts.
Funny, romantic and a big dose of mistaken identity.... This was such a cute book to read...this book made me smile and laugh.. A great book to recommend to anyone
This was a great rom-com and a feel good book! It took a bit of time to take off for me at the beginning but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it!
This was the sweetest rom-com I have read in a while! It was exactly what I needed right now. Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers did an amazing job with this cute love story. I fell in love with the characters and how their lives came together like they were just waiting for one another.
Jen Flanders is this messy artist who does not have her ducks in a row. One day in the middle of yoga she asks for a little help from the universe and sure enough she gets a text from God, but not the god although she would like to believe she did.
"What the … God is texting me? Is this some new Verizon service? Because if it is, what in the heck am I paying for it?"
She just cannot believe her luck “God” is getting her and job and then she meets Gabe.
Gabe Daly is a handsome lawyer who is just trying to help his friend’s sister out. Little does he know he is texting the wrong women. Gabe and Jen meet several times before it becomes apparent that Jen is the one, he has been texting. In the meantime, after getting to know Jen he beings to question his whole life, his career and his girlfriend of 8 years. Is this divine intervention or just a good connection??
This was a charming story filled with humor and the kind of love you see on the hallmark channel. If you want a sweet romantic treat this is the book you’ve been searching for.
I have not enough words to describe this book.
I am a huge fantasy reader but sometimes who doesn’t need a good romance ?
This book and the two main characters was everything. I wished for and more.
If you want to read a book for a couple of hours to either escape the real world of to just read a good and fast book , that’s the right book for you!
This was a good, cute, feel-good book that was just the right thing I need to read at the moment. Not my normal genre of book but definitely one I enjoyed reading.
Feelings are a hard thing to talk about and confess to someone especially when they just reject you. The story of someone fighting for what they want and to prove they have feelings that are more than just a manifestation into believing it was GOD.
Very cute and full of little romantic gestures, loved it and had me smiling and laughing throughout.
Thank you Whitney and Melanie for allowing me the honour of reading this ARC and Netgalley for accepting me. I loved it.
This was such a cute book.
I felt bad for Jen, that everyone kept thinking she was crazy because she believed GOD was texting her. Personally, I didn't see anything wrong with her belief. She was in a bind and needed something good to happen to her and the text from GOD came at the exact moment she asked for help.
I loved the friendship and eventual relationship between Jen and Gabe. They were adorable together. I will admit that I hated the scene where he was badmouthing his friend's "sister", not knowing it was Jen. It was just heartbreaking when he really liked her but also called her flaky.
Gabe's family were also awesome. I loved his parents and how much they loved Jen.
I definitely recommend this book!
This was...only okay for me. It was fine; I finished it. But I couldn't suspend disbelief about the premise enough to actually enjoy myself. I love a texting-confusion story, but this one just didn't land for me.
Feel good story about innocent and trusting Jennifer who believes that God is helping her overcome the struggles she is currently having in her life. Gabe, aka GOD, thinks he is texting the sister of a friend who is trying to help find a internship position at a law firm. Through a series of events, Jen and Gabe meet not knowing they have already met via text messages. The story lines run parallel while Jen and Gabe's relationship continue to blossom and intertwine. Jen realizes the connection first and agonizes over how to come clean without losing Gabe. He, of course, finds out the truth first and rejects Jen. She must figure out a way to convince Gabe that she wasn't using him and her feelings for him are real. Supporting characters strengthen the story and add additional wit and charm.
Enjoyed it and would recommend the book. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What an absolutely cute story. I was laughing from the off. I will definitely be reading more of the series. A real feel good rom com, just what I needed
Super adorable story of love and faith. Jen is an artist trying to make her way in the New York art scene but is having a hard time. When she gets a mysterious text message from God, her life is changed forever. Gabriel Oliver Daly has a plan: make partner, marry Alexis, have a family, and everything will be the way he's alway imagined it. Wen he meet a pretty front desk clerk at the hotel he's supposed to meeting a friend's sister at, his life is also changed forever.
Very cute and well written and part of a series that's fun ad innocent and very fun to read!
I loved this book. Super lighthearted and easy to read. The characters were easy to like and the story flowed. The storyline was unique and quirky.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC copy
