I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I actually liked it. It’s not a book I normally choose to read, but it’s a good thing I did!
It’s an easy to read through romance.
It’s light and funny and I would definitely recommend this book!
I loved this book! Although I've read other books where texting plays a role in the development of the romance between the hero and heroine, I thought authors Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers developed this concept in a very unique way. The main character, Jen, is refreshingly optimistic and prefers to see the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. She's a small town girl who also believes anything is possible. So, when she receives a text from someone whose ID is GOD, she quickly overcomes her initial skepticism and begins to believe that the wisdom and advice GOD is texting her could actually originate from the heavens.
What makes the situation hilarious is that the authors quickly let the reader in on the secret about who GOD really is. So we can't help laughing when Jen responds to some of the statements made by GOD. Like when he tells her he needs to go, because he's late for a meeting, and she wonders how GOD could get in trouble for being late to anything. These scenarios had me laughing out loud, so much that others around me asked, "what's so funny?"
She does eventually find out who GOD is, and the reason she's getting texts from this mysterious entity. That's when she begins to realize she might have feelings for the human person behind the text messages. I loved watching how Jen developed throughout the book, gaining more confidence in herself and her artistic abilities.
This is the second in a series of books written by Whitney Dineen around the subject of romances developed because (or despite) communication via text. I enjoyed this one so much I plan to read the others, too!
Thank you to Netgalley and the authors for giving me a chance read this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review.
2 Stars ⭐⭐
The Text God is an adult romance novel. This novel follows Jen Flanders and Gabriel Oliver Daily(GOD). It follows Jen who has just moved to New York and is having a sort of difficult time. As she is praying for help she receives a text from GOD. She finally, after some time, realizes this is Gabe and not God. We go from there. I don't want to spoil too much of the plot. I found this book to not be what I expected, and don't really think I personally was not the right audience. I am very selective of my romances, and it is not my most read genre. I lean more towards "The Hating Game" type of a romance. I will say if you love romcoms in book form, no matter the plot, this is a book for you. I love romcom films, but maybe not as relaxed for reading.
Overall this book was ok, and I would still recommend it to someone who will hopefully love it.

Jen is a struggling artist, just trying to keep her head above waters in NYC. Gabe is a hospitality lawyer, growing more and more disillusioned with the cutthroat aspects of his career. When Jen gets a text out of the blue from a contact in her phone with the initials GOD she's down on her luck enough to truly believe that God is responding to her prayers. Via text. What ensues is hilarity.
Okay, so the initial premise is a little ridiculous and Jen seems pretty naive to continue believing that she's actually texting God for quite so long, but the dialogue is SO fun, the characters SO likable and the story SO heartwarming that I honestly didn't care.
The chemistry between Gabe and Jen is *chefs kiss*, but Gabe's family are the real stars for me. They reminded me so much of my extended family in Ireland and everything about them was believable. This is the second story in the 'Accidentally In Love' series and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Absolutely loved this book. I have read the first two in the series and I loved them both equally. The author has a way of making the reader love the characters and an interesting story, not the usual run of the mill fall in love and marry your best friend that so many other novels have. This has a twist with the texting added in and mistaken identity. I was on pins and needles wondering when they would realize who they were and who would realize it first. I did feel that Jen realized it a little quickly., but it didn't mess up the story any for me.
I am sending an email to my colleague at the library I work for to ask her to purchase the entire series! I just really love it and have already ordered the second two for myself! Great job to the author! She has a new fan!
Hilarious story about a 'naïve' girl who believes God is texting her in answer to her prayers. No really... the contact name in her phone is GOD. In a sort of domino effect, a series of strange circumstances take place that one might call fate, leading the Heroine and the Hero together, though that same set of circumstances is also what could cause the fall out. So many laugh out loud moments. This is a fun, easy to read, clean story that is suitable for teens and up. The side characters are as enjoyable as the leads. (Sometimes stealing the show.) It reads quickly, and the story flows smoothly. It alternates POVs. An overall feel good kind of read.

I really enjoyed this book- it is a good summer read, a lot of fun and fairly relaxing! It was on the predictable side, but that's what most of us want in this genre :)
This book is read thanks to NetGalley,
Romance fans, you have to give it a shot.
The God-ish touch was so funny but so endearing at the same time.
Usually I don't like the stories when the lead's life gets better once they have a love interest, but this time, I found the part about her love life way more interesting and easy to read.
is an easy read, you get what the review promises you and you will like it.

I enjoyed The Text God for what it was - a quirky rom com with a slightly unbelievable twist. I found it hard to engage in the story at times because the premise was a little too out there. I can fully get behind cases of mistaken identity, but believing that God is texting you was a bit much.
That being said, I did enjoy reading it. It wasn't a terrible read, but I enjoyed it a lot more when it became less about Jen's naiveté and focused more on the relationships that the authors were building. Overall, it was a perfectly acceptable book, just maybe it could have been a bit more involved in the relationship aspect of it.
Jen lives in New York and is a struggling artist, she is getting strapped for cash and asks the universe for a sign that things will improve. At that same moment she gets a text from none other than GOD. Suddenly things start going better for her. Little does she know that GOD is actually Gabriel Oliver Daly, a lawyer who thinks he is helping his friend's younger sister with her career. What happens when they finally cross paths and meet?
I loved this book! It's been a while since I've read something that literally made me laugh out loud. The characters were great. Jen's conversations with GOD were hilarious. This was such a fun, easy, quick read. I enjoyed every moment of it! It was the cutest story and I am already looking for more by this author!
Thank you to Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Cute. You do have to just go with it and not overthink. Jen actually believes that GOD is texting her for entirely too long in the book. It's really hot lawyer Gabriel Oliver Daly the subject of a huge case of mistaken identity.
I could not get into this book. with the characters or the storyline. I am sure it is my fault for downloading this book before reading everything about it. I am also sure others will enjoy this story. sorry.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange of an honest review.
I thought it was a fun and light read.
Don't hesitate to read it.
If you are in the market for a clean, semi-religious based love story with a main character that still has a long-term girlfriend while interested in another woman that’s based in New York City, then this is the story for you. There are a lot of incredulous moments with the main character, Jen, assuming that The God of all living and non living beings is texting her out of the blue. Incredulous because she is a privileged woman who comes from money and circumstance and has solvable problems that she herself can get herself out of. There were also randomly added health issues with side characters which I felt were added to drive the story on and intentionally keep the two love birds apart longer than was needed.
Jen is having a hard time in life at the moment and she really wishes something good would happen. She says a little prayer and "God" answers her in the form of a text. Gabe sends a text message to the younger sister of his friend, offering some help as she is following the same career path as he has. This younger sister keeps asking for more and more and soon he is thinking she's a bit off her rocker.
Some of Gabe's assistance gets Jen into a job at a hotel that he works with as a hospitality lawyer. It's not long before they happen to meet and hit it off rather well. A bit long and they are both entangled in each others' lives and it's only a matter of time before this mistake is found out by both.
Okay, the premise is kind of silly and a little unbelievable to me. But then there are some people out there who really might believe it. So I will say it's a bit of a kooky premise. But it kind of works for me. Both main characters are pretty likable and they do have some nice chemistry going. The sorts of things going on in their lives are also pretty easy to understand so we can really sympathise with them.
I do find Jen's back story lacking to some degree. Reference to her family is mostly negative aside from her grandfather, but it's not clear what that story was. As this is the second book in a series, I wonder if the first book provides information useful to the second. In the end, it's not a major thing but it would give a bit better understanding of Jen to have that story revealed a bit further.
Overall this was a quite enjoyable read, full of humour and the personalities of both Jen and Gabe. I give this 3 solid stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for sharing an advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
It was an okay read honestly a littl boring. She's doing yoga and asks god for help and then receives a text from "GOD" it's a bunch of clichés. 2.75 rating.

Was the plot a little okay a lot stupid? Yes. Could I put this book down? No
Jen has moved to New York to be an artist and so far hasn't shown her work anywhere and is a dog walker but she gets a text from God.
How anyone could believe that God is texting them in order to set them up with a job is so naive and stupid. Honestly that plot is so ridiculous but the reviews were good so I gave it shot and I am glad I did. Jen aside from being gullible is a good character and Gabe is really sweet.
Gabe a lawyer who is having a crisis of conscious knowing he may be in the wrong even if he is just doing his job. He is also not sure where his relationship is going even though they have been together for 8 years.
I was quite look(not forward to reading this as I love the accidental texting trope. While still it was light and funny in some places Jen the female lead seemed much to naive and a little too quirky for me. Her genuine belief that God was texting her at the start went on longer than I expected. I felt she should have twigged after he told her his name was Gabe but that’s just me. Think others will enjoy it more but it wasn’t really for me. 2.5 stars
This book was light and funny. It had some really interesting characters, the main one being the short neighbour, but the main female character was so annoying that I struggled to enjoy the book. The plot line was amusing but the book felt a bit rushed. Maybe one for people who enjoy Jill Mansell.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The misunderstanding was an interesting change up and the characters were fun.
This was my first book by these authors but it won’t be my last.
