Hmmm....The story was not what I thought it would be. It was relatively good and the writing was excellent. A darkly rich story that will draw you in and keep your until the end.

To Whom This May Concern:

I would first like to say that this is the first book in the Mask series by Margarette Grey. The rest of the series, based on assumptions, would need this book to be read first to fully understand the situation. This is the first time I am reading a product of Margarette Grey.

The couple in this book is Brandon Lucien and Alayna Hart. However, all the characters referred to Brandon as "master". I do not like this at all. He is considered a master of the house, but the consistent uses of it that term made his character very cringe worthy. Their love story is between Me Before You and 50 Shades Of Gray. Both of the characters have issues that need to be addressed, but the author could've written it better.

In this book, Alayna is hired to cook for Brandon who doesn't come out of his house due to a traumatic incident that has changed his appearance. Eventually, he complies. However, there is a whole conflict revolving around his family's history. This being said, there are too many holes in the plot. Brandon sounds basically like a wussy that can't handle his own problems. On the other hand, Alayna has no conviction to anything she says or does. The plot and characters are weak. This book is written between a dual point of view.

The "romance" scenes so-so steamy. There was only one prominent scene, which was okay. There was no scenes where I had to cover what I was reading in public. It is more of a slow burn type of books with more kissing scenes than sexual scenes.

The ending of the book is not a cliffhanger per se, but it was rushed. Everything was explained about Brandon's behavior in the last chapter. It leads the plot into the next book of the series.

With that being said, I give the first book in the Mask series a 2 stars out of 5. It was not unreadable, but it was a hard read in the sense that I just did not like the plot or the characters. None of them were relatable and their romance was lackluster at best.

With thanks.

This was a bit of a mess for me. I really liked the premise, but it just had to many errors to enjoy. I couldn’t get past the rushing and time lines. I feel like with more editing and a better comprehensive plan it could be a good read. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

Ooh, this was so bad 😯 It sounded very fun and intriguing, but holy wow it isn't making any sense at all. The writing is terrible. It's as if all the good and interesting parts have been deleted and the parts that need heavy editing were left... I read 19% and I can't read a letter more. I do not recommend this book at all.

4.5*
Alayna is hired to cook for the mystery Billionaire Brandon.
Brandon has been hiding from the world for over 10 years only trusting his cousin Oliver to see him.
When the new chef takes it upon herself to break some rules the two come to a compromise.
I loved the character of Alayna wanting to care for those she is close to. Brandon character is more complex and I'm hoping the next book answers more questions.
A new author for myself and I looking forward to reading more in the series.

This was a fast-paced romance that was overall enjoyable. I will say I wasn't a huge fan of the world-building and think that could have been expanded on. Some of the plot points were a bit all over the place and at times the characters were juvenile. I also wasn't a huge fan of the writing style.

The saving grace of this book (for me) was the romance as I think there's a lot that could happen in future books.
Overall, 2.5 stars.

I grew up reading Gothic romances and the atmosphere and plot of THE BILLIONAIRE’S MASK had me under its spell from the first page. The type of language used set the tone for a mysterious, troubled, sequestered master of the mansion, and the light and life that came through with the young woman he hired to be his personal chef.

We know the mask stems from tragic circumstances that left the Master with physical and mental scars. The novel is in part about his healing, but also uncovering the source of the tragedy. Alayna becomes the first person outside of his cousins that Master Brandon permits to see him.

The author build the suspense with the mystery of the source of Brandon’s pain. She fuels a slow burning passion between Brandon and Alayna that steals your breath, then breaks your heart. The cliffhanger ending is quite compelling and I hope the next book is out very soon.

I received an advance copy of this book. This is my voluntary review.
