This was a quick read and I felt that I have read many stories very similar to this one. The book overall was okay, but I am not interested enough to continue the series.

“I didn’t physically transform, but I feel as if I was reborn. All my senses are heightened and the world looks different. I am different. Now that I am aware of it, I feel the wolf inside me”.

Destiny, the first book in the Academy Series, is an exciting fantasy novel filled with mythical creatures and sizzling romance.

Jamie has spent all of her adult life fleeing the mountain hometown she abandoned when she was eighteen. She's had a steady career and a regular life since then. But as her career crumbles, she is compelled to return home only to confront the ghosts of her childhood.

As she attempts to explore old memories and rekindle dead relationships, she encounters Wren, a ruggedly handsome park ranger who appears to have a bond with the enigmatic black wolf lurking in the nearby woods. As Jamie grows closer to Wren, she gradually discovers a paranormal realm of supernatural powers, shape shifters and mysterious wolf warriors prowling in the woods. Soon, Jamie uncovers all that has been withheld from her - her Destiny.

Just when she thought that her life was getting back on track, she was drawn into two paths. She must decide quickly. She must choose between a normal life and one full of twists and turns, a life that was predestined for her long before she was born.

This latest fantasy series by D. D. Larsen dives deep into the torment of reliving the past, the cost of learning the truth, and the strength of love. It is a tale filled with sizzling romance, heart-pounding passion, a page-turner mystery, and riveting suspense.

Right from the outset, it’s been gripping and continues to build up, hooking you totally into the plot. It has you on the edge of your seat. I liked how fast-paced the narrative was. And as I read, I was able to picture the atmosphere and empathise with the characters. The characters had a suspenseful air about them, and their development was well portrayed.

The story ends with a cliff-hanger, leaving you wanting more. The novel has a Twilight-esque feel to it. I couldn't set it down and ended it in a single sitting. I can’t wait to read more of this. I eagerly await the next instalment of the series.
