The Black Widow of the Lyon's Den obviously has a much further reach than we first suspected. I enjoyed this sweet romance and the undeniable attraction between the Duke of Mar and Jennifer, who arrives at his estate with his nephew in her arms. Suspicious by nature, Cheyne has doubts regarding Jennifer's identity, especially as his brother's accompanying letter creates more questions than answers. The Duke's gruff nature and harsh stance contrast strongly with Jenny's sweet disposition and her obvious affection for the toddler. There are moments of hilarity in this novella, as well as some stress and tension. Ultimately it is a standalone and comes to a joyful conclusion. I received a copy of this romance through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The Duke of Mar, known as Lyon by his friends and family had a unexpected surprise as during a horrific thunderstorm.. Before stands a dripping wet women, clutching a baby. Jenny is shaking not just from the cold and being wet, but will the Duke believe her that she is his youngest brother wife and the baby is nephew. Will she be able to convince him? She has a letter of introduction from his brother John. As Lyon reads the letter, John mentions his wife’s blue eyes, but the beautiful women in front of him has green. Something doesn’t seem right, but the baby does have the Lyon’s birthmark.
Well written, love the characters. Fast read.....to fast! Enjoyable way to pass the afternoon.
Now I need to read the 1st book in the series.

This novella is a great addition to the Lyon's Den series.

Cheyne Lyon, the serious Duke of Mar, isn’t very surprised when his wastrel brother John dumps a wife and baby on his doorstep, but Jennifer is intelligent and sweet, just the sort Cheyne could love, if only she wasn’t already taken....or is she not exactly who she says she is and there is more to the story? Jenny is not his brother's wife but she definitely has reasons for pretending to be and to be in hiding.

I read this book in one sitting and loved the characters and the fast paced, but thorough story.

This was a wonderful, quick read with great characters. Cheyne and Jenny were meant to be together. Nothing is better than a scowling Duke with a soft side. The book was complete, but I could definitely read more about the Lyon's family. I have read most of the Lyon's Den books and have loved them all. Lady Dove-Lyon is intriguing and I enjoy reading of her match making machinations.

I had read the previous version of this and I do like this version as well.

I received this book from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for an honest review.

The Duke of Mar has the surprise of finding Jenny. his youngest brother's wife and their son on his doorstep during a storm. He did not even know his brother was married. Jenny has a secret of her own that she is trying very hard to keep to herself. She is very much attracted to Lyon as is he to her. But he cannot be attracted to his brother's wife. Can we get this whole thing straightened out?

Excellent read. Always love to read about the Lyon Den series. This story is about Jenny and Cheyne. She's come to Scotland with his nephew. He thinks this Jenny is his brother's John's wife who is also called Jenny. Boy are things interesting in this book. But with trouble coming her way she needed a safe place to hide. Hea.

Short and sweet tale of Jenny and Lyon. It's almost love at first sight for both of them, but Lyon believes Jenny is his brother's wife! The fun begins, with a wee bit of trouble thrown in to make for a lovely story.

Anytime the Black Widow of Whitehall is involved one is sure to know that a wedding is going to happen! However, Jennifer leaves the Lyon’s Den to only enter the real Lyons Den, the Duke of Mar , Lyon of Mar is about to be surprised with Jenni and his nephew. A nephew, Jonny he never knew he had until now.

Cheyne Lyon and his brother had a falling out, but he would never turn away his brothers wife or nephew. Jennifer was starting to become attracted to the Lyon of Mar and she had secrets and he didn’t like liars.

This is another well done book for the series and Meara Platt has added mystery, dastardly characters and sibling angst and what is a historical Book without a great romance!

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

Cheyne Lyon, Duke of Mar isn’t surprised when his wastrel brother John dumps a wife and baby on his doorstep, but Jennifer is intelligent, nurturing, and sweet, just the sort Cheyne could love, if only she wasn’t already taken. When unsavoury strangers come around looking for a runaway young lady, Cheyne realizes Jennifer isn’t who she claims to be, and he isn’t about to give her up.
A lovely story of misunderstandings & secrets that I read in one sitting. Strong characters & a lovely romance

Will her lies doom their burgeoning attraction...

A sweet tale with two characters having to hide their awakening feelings.
Jenny is on the run, with a child to protect so his family is her best option, a good way to hide herself from those looking for her.
But she never expected to fall for the man who offers her shelter, how can she repay him for his kindness when she lied to him.
Lyon feels guilty for being attracted to his brother’s wife, if she is as some doubts gnaw at him. Soon he must face he has fallen for her.
Their relationship quickly moves to something deeper even with each one holding back their sentiments and secrets. They are cute likable characters with a sweet little boy to bring them together.

Part of the Lyon's Den shared world, The Lyon's Surprise involves family drama, hidden identities, escape from danger, a grumpy hero, a courageous heroine, and an active baby. This is the first book I've read by this author, and now I want to read more.

Eek.
A beautiful novella with a passionate and gruff Duke, who has such a soft centre.

He’s Lyon, a Scot, a Duke, a brother ,an uncle, and a great holder of tradition, but more than that ,to Jenny he’s the man she loves on first sight.
Believing she is married to his brother is what keeps them apart, but so do the lies she told him.

His green eyed selki bewitched him from the beginning, but what he feels is wrong, immoral and he tries so hard to stay away.
Jenny is becoming an infatuation, and addiction, this can’t go on.

Will they sort out the lies an make peace with the truth, such a brilliant story by Meara.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
