It’s always a pleasure to read another Van Shaw novel from Glen Erik Hamilton. Island of Thieves was another gripping read. You could see how things were going to come to a head, and that someone was trying to frame up Shaw, but the fun part, as always, was reading on to see how Shaw was not only going to get out of it but also how he’d manage to nail the villains.

Former Army Ranger and thief, Van Shaw, accepts a job to test the security in a warehouse. What he doesn’t know is that this is a set up and although he completes the assignment, he was watched the entire time. He returns the statue, that he removed from the warehouse, to the man who hired him, Sebastian Rohner. He is then asked to come to Sebastian’s estate to protect artwork that Sebastian believes someone will attempt to steal. He soon finds out that nothing is as it seems and when he is attacked, he delivers his own brand of justice. After he finds a body on the beach, things spiral out of control and he finds himself fleeing from the man who hired him and the police. A very complicated mystery and although I enjoy the Van Shaw character (and have read the previous five books) this was not one of my favorite Van Shaw books. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Island of Thieves is the 6th in Glen Erik Hamilton's series starring super-thief/ex-Army Ranger Van Shaw.

Van is offered a lucrative security gig, to protect an art collection on an island estate during a business meeting - where one of the attendees might be a thief. It seems too good to be true and it is.

Van becomes prime suspect in a murder and is then framed for another. If you enjoy action-packed thrillers with a slightly shady lead, then dive into this series.

Island Of Thieves is easily Glen Eric Hamilton's best in the Van Shaw series. The author turns up the heat for his anti-hero/thief with an odd job right out of the gate.
The Seattle based former army Ranger is tasked with stealing an artifact from its wealthy owner...just to see if he can. Upon completion, Shaw is hired on by tycoon Sébastien Rohner to guard his private island's artwork from possible thieves during an important business meeting.
A simple task becomes a setup for Shaw, wherein a murder takes place.
Shaw becomes the fall guy for a valuable polymer worth billions. When more bodies turn up, Shaw is the lead suspect.
The novel takes on a real James Bond vibe as Hamilton's tough guy travels cross country, pursued by both Rohner's hit men and the Seattle police.
Van Shaw uses his unique skills to outwit and stay ahead of the game while seducing two separate and seductive women.
The finale is as explosive as a Bourne movie, as Shaw takes on the entire polymer Playlist on the mysterious island where it all began. Boats, blood, bullets and an exploding helicopter are just a hint of what's in store.
Even if you haven't read Glen Eric Hamilton, Island Of Thieves is easy to jump into. Top level action at its finest from a scarred protagonist willing to risk it all for the truth.

Van Shaw is hired to evaluate the safeguards for the art collection of eccentric business magnate, Sebastian Rohner. Then Rohner reveals to Van the real reason he’s been recruited: to prevent another professional burglar from stealing the art. Rohner wants to set a thief to catch a thief.

On the hunt for a killer?! Please yes! Please!
