This book was amazing! I really enjoyed MacGibbon's perspective on what it means to be a neighbor as a Christian. It got me thinking and really praying to God to see how I can develop better relationships and be proactive with my neighbors. I cannot wait to read another book by this author as I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style and perspective,

What does it mean to love your neighbor? That’s the question that Lynda MacGibbon wondered as she moved into a new city. She intentionally chose to live in an apartment to build community among her fellow tenants. What transpired is a deep community among varying faiths and nationalities. People who wouldn’t have normally become friends found immense value in their time with one another. One downside to the book is that I had a G-rated expectation for this book, but it had harsher moments and I couldn’t listen to it out loud at the office. Overall, I was inspired by Lynda’s hospitality and would love to live in the deeply rooted community she has.

My Vertical Neighborhood is a memoir of how Lynda Macgibbon, after moving to a Toronto high rise, decided to learn what it really meant to love your neighbor, as Jesus has commanded. As an introvert, the beginning of this book was like a fascinating study to me; it seemed exhausting to me to have to put yourself out there as much as Lynda did. However, as the book went on, I was invested in the people and friendships; I loved hearing about the neighbors who went on to be her close friends. Though they all came from different backgrounds, they accepted one another and weren't afraid to talk about deep and difficult topics. In the end, what I take away from this is that loving anyone (including your neighbor) is a decision to take the actions to do so. A great story!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
