Thank You to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Did not finish. I struggled through 25% of the book because of the potential fantasy elements of this Irish themed story. This will appeal to some but not for me.

This is a fun adventure book with some romance between the main characters. I loved the old Irish sayings at the beginning of each chapter which showed wisdom with a sense of humor. The speech used by the characters had enough Irish flair to lend credence to their heritage. The book features a standalone story whose ending leaves the way open for future books in the world.

Overall, the grammar and spelling are good though I did spot some mistakes and definitely noticed that there were multiple instances where the double quotes surrounding speech were misplaced. Sometimes it was missing a starting or ending double quote for speech while other times the double quotes were around other sentences. Also there were a couple of minor plot points that had me thinking, uh, that doesn't make complete sense.

RUNDIMAHAIR by Larry Forkner

The modern Irish world collides with an ancient Irish world. Sean Quinn lives in modern-day Oregon, near the coast. He is involved in an accident and ends up in a hidden ancient Irish village. He doesn't realize at first, that these are not the modern people he's used to being with all of the time.

There is the magical element in the book, dragons, wizards, an evil sorceress Grainne, whom the Irish folk must battle to save their village and all of mankind.

Sean is taken in by Ashling and her father Eamon Cahir who have some of the strongest magical powers of their village. They are captivated by Sean since they know he is of Irish descent and that he has magical powers of his own that he does not know about.

The book is a fantastical fantasy of the age-old GOOD VS. EVIL quest. Highly recommend. The start of each new chapter has old Irish proverbs that are enjoyable additions.

Not included in the book, but an old Irish proverb that I enjoy:

May those who love us, love us;
And those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts, and if
He doesn't turn their hearts, may
He turn their ankles, so we will
Know them by their limping.
