I really enjoyed Mrs. Claus and the Halloween Homicide. This is the second book in this unique cozy mystery series and it's even better than the first one. It was interesting reading about the characters in Santaland being excited for Halloween, which is a holiday completely opposite of Christmas. Of course, not all the characters were happy about Halloween so hijinks and murder were bound to happen. My favorite moment in the book was what happened after April made her reindeer cookies for the bake sale. I actually laughed out loud on that part. I'll definitely keep reading this series for as long as the author writes new books for it.
Fanciful tale about the newest Mrs. Claus introducing a new holiday to Christmastown.
She becomes an amateur sleuth inbetween other duties when a self-important town merchandt is killed. Snow monsters are blamed throwing panic and terror into the lives of elves and reindeer.
A bit kitschy for a cozy mystery. The further I read the more I interested in what would happen to the main characters.
Liz Ireland was a new author to me, but she is now on my auto by list. I loved this book!! Cannot wait for the next book by her..
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this series. I love the covers, but the stories just don't grab me like I want them to.
Mrs. Claus likes Halloween and proposes that Santaland celebrate the holiday with costumes and carved pumpkins. Her excitement quickly comes to an end when someone smashes all the pumpkins, leaves a threatening note at the library, and the local shoemaker, Tiny is found face down in the snow with a huge footprint on his back. Will Mrs. Clause get her wish or will her dreams be crushed?
This is a crazy, action=packed story. I loved the characters, but the premise of celebrating Halloween with characters associated with Christmas was a pretty far-fetched idea for me. I just couldn't get my head around it. I would, however, recommend this book to cozy mystery fans because it was a fun read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Such a fun series! The setting is so unique and the characters are quirky! No cozy mystery can get into the spirit of Halloween, Santa style, like this one! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the series.
I love holiday cozies and this one is set in the North Pole where they are celebrating Halloween. What fun!
Someone is not happy about this mixing of holidays and before too long there is a murder that must be solved
Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught!
Loved reading this book and author. I highly recommend her and her books. Happy reading and enjoy. I suggest reading this book soon
Super fun cozy mystery! I couldn't put this book down and will be checking out the other book in this series!
Did not read this book. I did not find the plot enjoyable in book one nor were the cast of characters likable. I did not continue on with this series
This book is a complete delight! Liz Ireland has created a charming, fantastical Christmas North Pole world with a splash of Halloween thrown in. The story will have you twisting and turning until the end with lots of humorous events thrown in. Protagonist Mrs. Claus is a delight as an amateur sleuth. If there was such a thing as an instant holiday cozy mystery classic, this would be it.
This is the second book in the series but my first one. When I saw the title I didn’t know what to expect but I was intrigued. April is definitely not your typical Mrs. Claus but she is definitely an interesting protagonist. My story was entertaining and well-written. The mystery is full of twists and turns and surprises. I am definitely going to read more in the series.
All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.
So cute! This book brings Christmas and Halloween clashing together in the most entertaining way. I’m really loving this series.
This is book 2 in the Mrs. Claus series. April is beginning to like living with the elves in Christmastown and is introducing everyone to the traditions of Halloween. Someone in town isn't happy with adding a new holiday and the greenhouse where they are growing the pumpkins is attacked and many of the gourds are destroyed. April Claus decides to investigate and it's getting more complicated when they find a dead elf. A cute take on Santa and his workers. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I was a bit confused on this book due to me not have read the first one.
That being said, before you read this book, I recommend reading the first book. I think it would have helped me understand this book because honestly, I was lost.
overall, it was a really cute book. Combining Halloween and Christmas is always fun, don't we all love " A Nightmare Before Christmas"? Of course we do. Was this a good thriller and mystery, ehhhhhhh. I would say this is more of a fun read. I did not go in expecting anything amazing so I wasn't disappointed,
I received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
This is my first experience reading this author. I love that they brought Halloween to Christmastown!
I did enjoy this book, and the characters were fun. Can't wait till the next one.
April Claus is not your run of the mill Mrs. Claus, nope, she is anything but the typical storybook rendition. Imagine if Nancy Drew had a aunt who was a whole lot of open minded (she married Nick Claus after all) and a bit sleuthy (because the local constables need all the help they can get). All she wanted was to bring a little Halloween holiday to Christmastown and what she gets is a pumpkin massacre. Just as entertaining as the Santaland Slayings and can be read as a stand alone, but what would the fun in that be? April is a highly entertaining character, who is doing her best to navigate the social dictums of being a MRS. Clause, not to be confused with the Dowager Mrs. Claus or her sister in law who is also the widowed Mrs. Clause. In a land of elfish delights, such as fudge, peppermint sticks, and stylish footwear, April is ready to eat all the treats (I'm thinking either peppermint or pumpkin spice scones) while she does her best to avoid the tricks.
