Levine does it again with this hilariously funny book. A reader's delight! Her characters are interesting and you will love them. Get ready for some laughs as you try to figure out who the real killer is. A most enjoyable addition to any library.

I laughed out loud through the entire book. It’s like the author is channeling me in my younger years. The snarky comments and witticism is awesome! Even better, there are a bunch of previous books in the series that I can binge on. HAPPY GIRL…just add a pint or two of Chunky Monkey and I’m set!

Murder Gets a Makeover

Laura Levine does it again like all of the Jaine Austen books this one is lively and captivating. Laura Levine's books are well written and very, very funny she has a unique writing style that is delightful to read. This time her neighbor Lance hooks her up with a stylist to the stars Bebe Braddock who wants to take someone and do a before and after makeover and Jaine is the chosen one.
Jaine dutifully goes and suffers the slings and arrows of the fashionista as she works with Jaine on her makeover.
Bebe Braddock hates wire hangers and in an ironic turn, she is found strangled by one. Jaine had discovered the body and tried to revive Bebe so her prints are the only ones on the hanger.
Jaine must solve the murder before the detective thinks she is the murderer. As always with Laura Levine books there is no shortage of suspects and ad Jaine ticks them off one by one they all seem to have a motive. Is it the sister who is held down by Bebe? The husband who does not seem to be mourning. The stylist who Bebe Braddock displaced? The hairdresser who was tired of Bebe? The young rising moving star who might have been being blackmailed by Bebe? Read it and sift through the clues and see if you can figure out who done it.
Jaine doggedly pursues each lead until in an unexpected way she finds the murderer.
Jaine’s is back and up to her usual tricks. She’s still writing copy for ads for local businesses (Drop your pants here for a cleaner, etc.) As are her neighbor Lance and her cat Prozac and her parents whose emails make for very humorous reading.

Reading Jaine is like curling up with your favorite comfort food (which Jaine often does) so order a pizza and a pint of Chunky Monkey and enjoy this wonderful book.

I received this book for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley

I followed the series pretty closely and this is one of the best yet. Fun and frisky all the way!

Writer-for-hire Jaine Austen, living in L.A. with her cat, Prozac, appreciates one of the perks of working freelance—a wardrobe that’s heavy on elastic waists. But her BFF, Lance, has a makeover in mind, and it’s about to lead to murder. This is one of my favorite series...so much fun! The characters are always interesting but Prozac the cat is my favorite and I am not certain any of the mysteries in this series could be solved without him. this reads as a standalone but I highly recommend starting with the first book in the series because the way the characters have developed over time is part of the fun. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

This book was a glorious ray of sunshine. I spent a wonderful afternoon reading about Jaine and her latest adventure fraught with danger. This light hearted mystery is just what the doctor ordered. Reading about Jaine and the fact that lance set her up to get a makeover because she is a fashion disaster. Then she gets involved in a murder. I definitely recommend this book.

Quite possibly the funniest book I've ever read! Which is really saying something since I've read this entire hilarious series. Jaine lets her neighbor, Lance, set her up with a prima donna fashionista for a makeover. The woman is a nightmare and runs roughshod over everyone in her life. No one is very surprised or disappointed when Bebe turns up choked to death with one of her nemesis wire hangers.

Jaine finds herself in the hot seat after she discovers the body and she goes to great lengths to clear her name... And goes to even greater lengths to retrieve her lost Coocoo for Cocoa Puffs t-shirt.

If you haven't read this series you are depriving yourself. Go now and get them all. You can thank me later. You'll fall in love with Jaine, want to wring Lance's neck, and prepare a box to ship Prozac to Abu Dhabi. And if you pay close attention you'll find homage paid to Golden Girls, which is like pulling on a pair of shorts from last summer and finding out they're too big (except that the Golden Girls thing actually happens).

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC.

I usually don't read books about murder but this one was worth a read.

I am a big fan of this series and was thrilled to see a new addition however, the mystery fell flat and I had figured out "whodunnit" about half way through.

Though this story seemed short, I did enjoy it. One thing I'd like to see more of is Jaine sticking up for herself. She did with Lance in this installment and it was about time.
Even this far into the series I still find the writing fun and the characters interesting.

There’s nothing I love better than reading a new book by the wonderfully talented Laura Levine.
Jaine Austin is my favorite character. I can relate to her very well. I, too, wear elastic waist pants, as well as enjoy my fair share of burgers and fries. I also have two cats that feel they should be treated like royalty, much like Prozac.
In Murder Gets a Makeover, Jaine finds herself wrapped up in another police investigation thanks to her friend and neighbor, Lance. Jaine ends up on the receiving end of a makeover, and as a result she not only finds the victim, but she’s lost her Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs t-shirt! In the midst of all this drama, Jaine’s parents are emailing her with their own crazy shenanigans and Prozac is becoming an internet sensation.
If Jaine can get through all of this, it will be a miracle.
I love catching up with my favorite heroine, and I can’t wait for the next book.
