Accidentally requested the excerpt rather tan the entire novel. I’m intrigued by west I’ve read and hope to read the book.
I’m sorry but I am unable to give a review at this time. I didn’t realize it was an excerpt when I downloaded it. I don’t want to read the excerpt in case there are spoilers in there before I read the actual book. I have been hearing great things about this book! I will give a 4=star rating based on what I have heard.
A great excerpt that definitely makes me want to read the rest of the book. (The writers angle is what drew me in.) The writing is great - genuinely funny too - as are the characters we're introduced to. Looking forward to finding out what happens next.
This short preview is definitely enough to make me check out the full book! It was really fun, enjoyable, and I found the characters intriguing. Can’t wait for this book to be released - I'm adding it to my must-read list.
Thanks for the excerpt, Grand Central Pub!
In the opening scene we meet Eva a New York writer attending a meet and greet with fans of her romance novels who featured super natural characters. We learn that she is a single mom who devotes her time to her wildly popular novels, her thirteen year old daughter and battling excruciating migraines. I found this section of the novel slow and a bit over written. A refernce to the Ohio fans as bawdy broads left me scratching my head at the choice of words.
As the excerpt moved on I found myself getting into it. We meet her independent and ingenious daughter Audra and CeCe a close friend and confident who helped Eva gain attain the success she’s realized with her writing. We also learn about her failed marriage and gain a deeper look into the relationship with her daughter and mothering style. By the time we reached the section providing incite into how Eva grew up, her family’s back grown and her relationship with her mother, Lizzette, I am totally hooked and anxiously awaiting the next page.
In this excerpt the characters are well developed, the settings so expertly described them feel transported. I love the toggle between past and present as the history of Eva’s life unfolds. I enjoyed the addition of contemporary events to help set the stage for present time can place. I also enjoyed that black characters are depicted in non stereotypical ways. I would love to see how this story unfolds.
I really enjoyed this excerpt! Super funny with well defined characters - I truly got a feel for who Eva is after only a few pages. I loved the focus on physical health - Eva gets debilitating migraines and I thought the topic was handled well. I’m definitely interested in reading the rest of the novel.
Loved the excerpt! The characters are interesting and the story seems promising. Can't wait to read more. Now let's hope that I get approved for the book request.
Thanks for the excerpt!
I need more and I can't wait to read it! The first two chapters were even funny, I especially loved Eva's 12 year old daughter. The last chapter in this preview had me scared and my head hurting. I don't know how the characters will get connected, but I am eager to find out. I think it is too early to rate the book after only 3 chaptes, so I'm keeping it neutral for now
Can't wait to read the book now! Hopefully it'll be a BOTM pick!
I just reviewed Seven Days in June (Excerpt) by Tia Williams. #SevenDaysinJuneExcerpt #NetGalley.

I’m not sure reading a short excerpt can really make me comfortable with sending in opinions, so I will leave this review for the time I have read the full book.
Thank you for a tempting preview.
This was a fun, enjoyable, fast read for me. I like the premise, the characters, and the setting. I look forward to reading the full version of this book.
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read an excerpt of this book.
The excerpt of Seven Days in June (Excerpt) by Tia Williams has me so excited to read it when it comes out! The writing is hilarious and sharp. I was literally laughing out loud before I finished the first paragraph. Thank you Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for providing this ARC excerpt.
When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their past buried traumas, but the eyebrows of New York's Black literati. What no one knows is that twenty years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love.
