The third Blue, Barry and Pancakes adventure is another laugh-out-loud hit. The three friends enter an epic sundae-making contest this time, in the quest to win a trophy for Barry's trophy room. But the winning ingredient can only be found at Mount Choco... are the friends up to the task? Of course they are! In usual hilarious, frenetically paced style, Blue, Barry and Pancakes set out on an adventure that brings laughter, disagreement, adventure, and ice cream sundaes. It's not necessary to read the previous books before picking up Danger on Mount Choco, but why wouldn't you? These books are great.
Super cute kids title! Bright, colourful photos and fun characters made this one a hit with my young reader!
If you're a fan of quirky cartoons then this is a series for you. A trio of friends go on a madcap adventure to make the world's best ice cream sundae, encountering a variety of challenges and odd creatures along the way. If the reader can accept that this world follows it's own rules than it follows it's own internal logic. Visually, it's quite dynamic. There is a lot of variety in the panels. The main characters themselves are different enough to create enough interest on the page. While this book is part of a series, the characters and plot are simple enough to follow without any introductory information. And it's not just silliness. There is some simple messaging about being a good friend and the places where we find fulfillment.
In this third installment we have the three friends entering a sundae-making contest. Barry (the frog) has a trophy room with no trophies! In order to correct this, the three friends enter a sundae-making contest but quickly discover they need to make something really special to win. We see the friends go on a journey to get the best chocolate ice cream. This is a well-written, funny easy graphic novel series. You don't need to read the first two books to enjoy this one but I recommend reading them anyway because they're fun, too! Bright, fun art accompanies the easy-to-read text.
This is a perfect beginning graphic novel. The story is so cute. My nephew will flip over it, and as a struggling reader, it is perfect for where he is at. Plus I think Pancake will be one of his new favorite characters. I love how Blue (the worm) is the studious one, Barry is the middle child, and Pancakes is the crazy friend who wants to do it all and take you with them.
