DNF at 35%. I really love BAs books but for some reason this book was not grabbing my attention. It just started slow and too much back and forth. I really wish I liked it! It just was a big miss for me

Thanks to NetGalley for an audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

A you couple living the American dream in a big house in a gated community but when they find out the couple that lived there before them ended up in a questionable murder suicide they start having their doubts.

This thriller is full of twist and turns. With never a dull moment. It starts out a little slow but it is worth the build up to the end. I would give this a 5 out of 5 starts.

The Therapist by B.A. Paris

Alice and her boyfriend move into gated residential neighborhood and invite the neighbors over for drinks to meet them. Everything goes pretty good that night. The next day she is shocked to learn some random person who she thought was one of her neighbors, was actually an intruder. Soon after, she also finds out that someone died in her house and her boyfriend never told her. She starts investigating about the woman who died in her house. When she starts asking her neighbors, not all her too happy to bring up that topic. The further she gets into the murder details, the more in danger she gets. Too many strange things keep occurring at night. She feels like she’s being watched. It makes her obsessed with who the stranger was in her house and who was involved in the murder.

Overall, I loved it! There was enough suspense and thrill that kept me engaged throughout it. It had just enough factors that gave me the chills and kept me guessing the whole time. I am a fan of this author’s books and this psychological domestic thriller was written in B.A. Paris’ signature style.🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was very excited to have the opportunity to listen to an advanced readers audiobook of this novel. But, I was very disappointed. I found the plot to be slightly ridiculous and completely unrelatable. The ending seemed disjointed from the rest of the novel. I have enjoyed other books by B.A. Paris, but felt this one missed the mark entirely.

This book was intriguing enough that I finished it, but I just didn't find it that exciting. The audio was pretty good, I enjoyed this narrator but I just wasn't that interested in the story itself. Like the main character, I understand her obsession with the name, but she just made so many choices that I did not understand and I was not that shocked with the twist in the end.

Description
The multimillion-copy New York Times bestselling author B.A. Paris returns to her heartland of gripping psychological suspense in The Therapist—a powerful tale of a house that holds a shocking secret.

When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…

As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.

Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbors are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…

Thrilling from the get go! Twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat!

Having enjoyed the author's previous work, Behind Closed Doors, I was excited to read The Therapist. This book felt a little bit slower (and maybe more predictable) than The Therapist and was still a worthwhile read.

I didn’t feel a connection to these characters like I have in other BA Paris books. So it definitely wasn’t my favorite but it did keep me reading to the end because I wanted to know how it ended. It was maybe a little better than 3.5, so I rounded up. I like the author and look forward to more books. The narrator was good. No complaints and that is a good thing. If I don’t find myself picking at the narrator, they did a nice job.

Thank you for the advanced audio!

The Therapist by B.A. Paris had me yelling at the book while reading it. B.A. Paris is one of my favorite authors and this book was a hit for me until the ending. This book showcased Paris’ dynamic storytelling and writing throughout with its creepy atmosphere and suspenseful descriptions. The ending was just okay, I wanted a little more but all in all a good reading experience.

I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Therapist started out a little slow for me, but boy did it pick up.

I've been cringing at some thrillers recently, but The Therapist is so worth the read (or listen).

Alice moves into a newly renovated house with her partner Leo inside a close knit gated community. While getting to know the neighbors, Alice discovers that her new home was the place of a brutal murder of the past tenant.

Alice becomes obsessed with Nina and her murder, soon suspecting everyone in the circle to be the killer. Secrets are being kept and threats are being made that Alice herself might be making a lot of her suspicions up.

A great suspenseful read with good twists.

This is my first book by B.A. Paris but it won't be my last. This murder mystery takes place in a circled gated community where Alice and Leo have just moved into. The farther into the book we get, the more secrets that are revealed. Where Alice had originally thought she'd feel 100% safe being in such a neighborhood, along with security, turned out to be a place where she felt anything but safe. This book kept me engaged and I was invested in the characters as well. I am glad I got the chance to read this one and will be looking for more of B.A. Paris's books

The narration was done very well and added to my enjoyment of this book. First person narration was quite believable and I felt like "the therapist" was simply telling me her story.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for a free audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion which I have given.

The only thing that made this a two-star read (as opposed to a 1-star rating) was the audiobook's narrator. You could see the big reveal at the book's climax the second that character was introduced. Alice was just an idiot.

I wish I was able to finish this book. I had not been a huge fan of the previous books by B.A Paris, But, I wanted to give B.A one more try. I am not here to say B.A Paris is a bad author. Some books just aren't meant for some readers. Sadly, This was another DNF book for me from this author. I think fro me, The Therapist, doesn't resignate with me as an original concept.

I am a fan of B.A. Paris. but wasn't much of a fan of the British female narrator. The story was pretty good, and that
is what made it bearable to listen to the audio.

I received a copy of The Therapist by B A Paris from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Leo and Alice move into a house in The Circle. It’s a gated community, a safe environment for Alice who translates books from home. The house holds secrets and so do Leo and Alice.

This book was boring. It was too long and Alice was too needy. The mystery was easy to solve since the book was too long and not very suspenseful. I was disappointed in this book and give it 2 stars—mediocre psychological thriller.

This was a quick but unremarkable read.
The characters made poor choices and were annoying but that didn’t stop me from finishing I generally enjoy this author and this wasn’t horrible just not that memorable and this author has done much better

I really loved this book, however, I was not thrilled with the audio version. This story was captivating and had me hooked, but I would have preferred to read it, instead of listening.
