This read kept me there I didn’t want to miss anything, and I needed answers.
Can you imagine moving into a house where a horrific murder/suicide, has taken place, and not knowing it? No one wants to talk about it, and those that do, not always tell the truth!
The home sounds lovely, a gated community, and all maybe too perfect, and then secrets begin to fall, and sinister things begin to happen.
Pretty soon you are suspecting everyone, and yes, given the facts, they are guilty, but soon you suspect someone else. At times you will be holding your breath, whom can you trust, and hopefully you find someone soon, before it is too late!
If you enjoy a book that keeps you on the end of your seat, this one is great! Answers do come, will you guess correctly?
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Macmillian Audio, and was not required to give a positive

My Thoughts 💭
This was definitely a #BookstagramMadeMeDoIt
Until I joined Bookstagram I had not heard of B.A. Paris.
The Therapist, her latest gripping psychological suspense novel was my first B.A. Paris and did certainly not disappoint!
This one is entertaining, gripping and so so very twisted, that at the end I was just mindblown.
I tried to keep guessing who the culprit might be, but just like Alice, the protagonist herself, I suspected everyone (the clues were so well done for both the prime suspect as well as his/her accomplices) and was somehow completely wrong in the end!
The audio & narration was great and I thought that after a bit of a slow start, this one was very enjoyable!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to listen to this #ALC which was produced by Macmillan Audio Production, in exchange for an honest review.
The Therapist is available July 13, 2021!
Loved this! Kept me guessing until the end and even when I knew what was going to happen, the suspense kept me fully invested. I read this in 24 hours. Great audio!
Alice and Leo move into a beautiful house in The Circle with a price that’s too good to be true. Alice finds out this is because of a murder/suicide and that her partner knew about it before buying the house. Alice gets a little obsessed with the death of the woman and doesn’t know who she can trust in her neighborhood and in her own home.
Last year, I read my first B.A. Paris novel and honestly, I was super unimpressed. I enjoyed this one so much more and the audiobook narration totally won me over. If you’re looking for therapy, this isn’t the book for you. But if you want a buzzy beach read, it’s perfect.
I almost couldn’t put this down! And the only reason I did put it down was because I got a little too creeped out in the middle of the night (& had to watch 10 minutes of happy videos to get to sleep).
Absolutely amazing book by BA Paris. Alice and Leo move into a new neighborhood, and Alice discovers that their house was the scene of a gruesome unsolved murder. She becomes engrossed in understanding what happened and starts to realize that her new neighbors might not be as wonderful as they seem.
On top of Alice constantly trying to decide who is her true friend and who is not to be trusted, she is also dealing with fractures in her relationship with Leo. I immediately loved Alice, and found it delightful to take this twisty journey with her. Throughout the book I learned more about her, as well as the other characters (suspects?). Thoroughly enjoyable every step of the way!
Thank you to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for providing this audiobook, loved it!

This book is very slow and repetitive. It was not for me.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a copy of the audiobook, but I couldn't stick it out.

First, thank you St.Martin’s Press @stmartinspress for the printed ARC and Netgalley @netgalley for the advance audiobook copy of The Therapist in exchange of an honest review.

This was a sensational, hair-rising, gripping, rip-roaring and thrill filled book that made me flip all of its 360 pages with delight and excitement! Can you tell already that I think it was good?!?! Yes! It was great!

Alice and Leo moved to a private, gated neighborhood that is close knit and safe. Alice, who still can’t get over the death of her parents and sister in a fatal car accident desperately wanted to fit in with the new neighborhood. Some neighbors are welcoming and nice but, some are just downright rude. What is worse? Alice just found out the ugly truth that their house had a murder history. Horrified with the discovery, Alice come to not only discover the house’s secret but so as his husband’s and it seems like the new neighbors have a lot to hide too!

This psychological thriller was slow at first but the grit was there building and simmering the plot. I always love B.A.Paris’ style in keeping readers over the edge. I love the micro twists that were all over the storyline as well as the major one. The clues that would point to almost everybody in the character line-up as prime suspects or accomplice. It can be anybody! It was effective and drove me nuts! I love it very much!
** Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. **
I was very bored during the majority of this book. There is a lot of repetition and the book drags on and on. I enjoyed the last hour of the book in finding out “who done it”.
Thank you to the author, publisher, narrator and Net Galley for providing a free e-audio ARC edition of this book.
To be honest, I haven't had a good history with BA Paris. I've heard from lots of people who enjoy Paris' work, and I keep trying the books, but I think I need to stop trying. I just did not enjoy this book at all. It was confusing, repetitive and annoying. And I'm not a fan of the narrator at all. I struggled to listen to the audiobook. I did finish the audio because I wanted to give it a fair shot to help my review, but - ugh. It was tough.
This is a 1 star book for me - I did not like the book or the narration.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advance listen! Love love B.A Paris! She is an amazing story teller. Between the author and the narrator this story kept my attention and had me guessing pretty much most of the story. The characters were amazing and felt as if I was there with each and every character. Jump in feet first and hang on. Amazing read.
I love everything B.A. Paris has written. This book did not disappoint; it was a perfectly twisty psychological thriller. What I love about BAP is that she can plant thoughts in your head throughout the story. I thought I knew the outcome at least 4 different times, but turned out way wrong and genuinely surprised at the end. The story was paced well and there wasn't too much "filler" that wasn't relevant.
Alice and Leo are finally moving in together in London at The Circle, and Alice is looking forward to starting a new life and making friends with her neighbors. She quickly learns a dark secret about her home and neighborhood , and realizes that not everything is what she thinks it is. She becomes obsessed with putting the pieces together to solve the mystery that everyone else seems to be trying to forget.
The Therapist is my third book by Paris. I went in blind because I prefer having a clean slate with suspense books. I guessed a LOT of people and was totally wrong! I would make a horrible detective, but perfect suspense reader. I loved the narrator for the audiobook and that I got to listen to the beautiful accent while reading.
I loved B. A. Paris' first book - it was unique and engaging. Unfortunately, "The Therapist" was not. The tension that the story deserved never reached the fever pitch of her earlier work, that tension that keeps you up late at night, promising yourself just one more page. The little flashbacks of Nina didn't add anything to the story, nor were the red herrings anything but transparent. The main character was flat and unlikeable - honestly, her naivete was exhausting.
The narrator was a wonderful choice for the audio.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review as well as an audio copy to listen to and review.
This is the third book by B. A. Paris that I have read and try as I might, I just don't like this author. The book was a thriller and pretty fast paced. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that I don't like, but it is just not for me. I will say that this book is better than Behind Closed Doors so if you liked that one, you will definitely like this one.
I loved this story so much. The narrator was great.
The overall story was so engaging and had me invested from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed following these characters and was shocked at the ending.
I highly recommend The Therapist.
A twisted web of lies surrounding The Circle. So entertaining! I loved every minute I spent listening to this story
This had a strong start but the plot was a bit thin and the main character does a lot of explaining to advance the plot. Not very memorable. Ok for a beach read.
***Spoiler Alert***
I was so excited to be chosen by Netgalley to listen to the audiobook of The Therapist by B.A.Paris and I’m so glad I did. The narrator was superb, I felt like I was a neighbor of the London Circle complex.
Alice and Leo after having a romantic relationship but only seeing each other on the weekends move in together. From the start of their new home, Leo has a secret and wishes Alice wouldn’t try to make friends with their neighbors. Within time Alice learns her boyfriend lied to her and with something so unforgiving. She learned a woman named Nina was murdered in her new house and she doesn’t how she’ll ever feel okay to live in her house again. Then strange occurrences start occurring at night, is it Nina’s ghost whose trying to give Alice signs to find her murderer or is her so called beloved boyfriend messing with her? Then Alice starts asking one to many questions of her new neighbors and friends and she’s really confused at all the misgivings. B.A. Paris is a masterful story teller and this book The Therapist will have the reader on the edge of their seat either turning pages or listening to the audiobook. One thing is certain, either way, no sleep will be had. 5 stars.
Alice and Leo have been long distance dating for a while and then Leo asks Alice to move in with him so that way they can see each other a whole lot more! Imagine meeting the right guy and being ready to move in together with him. He buys a nice home in a gated community and he even renovates the new house to make it completely new!
This is Alice's life. While her parents and sisters untimely death she has kind of carried that burden a while and this new home and new life with Leo is just that chance for her. While everything seems perfect, she finds out everything isn't quite as it seems. One evening Alice and Leo host drinks to get to know all of the neighbors, a strange man appears and passes off as one of the neighbors. When she finds out that the strange man wasn't actually the neighbor she goes on a hunt to find out who the man was and surprisingly he shows up back at her front door. Then he introduces himself as a private investigator, who is investigating the previous owners murder. The previous owner was murdered and her husband was charged with the murder but he committed suicide. The private investigator and the husband's sister are convinced that he didn't kill his wife. So now the Private Investigator is asking Alice questions about the neighbors, and this sets Alice off in a spin into the murder and realize that anything and everything that she thought that she knew about herself, Leo and the commuity is not what it seems to be!
OMG! I love B. A. Paris is one of my favorite authors for thrillers and mysteries and this did not let me down at all!!! While it did not have the WOW factor, but I loved it! I was given the audiobook from Netgalley, the audiobook literally kept me on the edge of my seat! If you liked her book behind closed doors then you will LOVE this one! Paris is very talented at domestic thrillers! Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this one!
This isn't an awful read, but it isn't great, either. The storyline is quite basic and doesn't stand out from any of the other domestic thrillers I've read before. The protagonist is extremely dense and naive, which I found to be extremely frustrating by the end of the story. I know it sounds like I didn't like this book, but that isn't the case. I really enjoyed the first half and would give B.A. Paris another shot, for sure!
