Allayne and Alexandra are both perfectly happy being single. Their parents not so much. Before they arrive at a house party each of their parents have guilted them in to attending, they both spontaneously have the idea to trade clothes and places with their valet/maid. What starts at a lighthearted farce (her name is Anna Banana and his "rodent" springs out of his pants) quickly turns much darker as they both go their own ways and years pass. When they meet at a ball four years later as themselves the attraction is still there but their new lives have complications. If you enjoy absurdity and drama in the same book this would be for you.

This really was almost a DNF for me, and I took so long to finish it, the pub date has come and gone. The premise was ridiculous, even for a romance novel, and I found none of the characters charming or appealing. The h/H were silly, and not in a good way.

Neither Allayne nor Alexandra want to marry. Their families have a different perspective. Follow these two as they do all that they can to avoid the "marriage trap". I will definitely recommend this book.
Thank you Veronica Crowe, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

So much emotion in this second book of “The Heirs of Cornwall” — it’s true what they say, “The Bigger the Rogue the harder he falls” Alaayne Carlyle falls hard. Of course it can’t be a straight forward HEA, no this story takes you through the twists and turns of false identities, family obligations, unplanned consequences of a passionate love, miscommunication, and misunderstandings. Never fear there is a happy ending but first the story tramples all over your heart. This story has some very sexy moments as Alaayne explores his hedonistic nature…🔥🔥🔥

It was nice seeing characters from book one and watching their families grow. You also get your first glimpse of Diana and Edward who will take you on an emotional ride in book 3 of the series.

Overall 4 Stars | 4 Flames

I recommend this series if you love stories full of UST and FEELZ that eventually come to a HEA!!

Enemies to Lovers with a very precocious child who hides under her Uncle's desk to hear what she shouldn't. And also manages to find the things that should be kept well hidden and away from young children!
Nicely written and well within expected style for a Regency romance, with a heroine who is not such a well behaved young lady who sits with her needlework. she'd rather ride pell mell and shoot - very accurately it has to be said - her pistols. The ones her father gave her! And challenge people to a match...
And of course, there is a twist to the plot as she dresses as a maid to put him off, and he does the same and dresses as a valet to put her off. Yet they both fall fall for each other despite this charade and the consequent concern over marrying 'beneath'.

Love, Deception, and Secrets

Sir Walter Scott says it best: “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!” Two people engage in the most comedic antics to avoid the parson’s noose. Their machinations will make you burst out laughing. You will not want to read this in a place where you should be quiet. Reading in bed, with someone sleeping beside you is ill-advised. Their story is a comedy of errors, deceptions, and secrets. What do Alexandra and Allayne do to avoid marriage, and how do things turn out in the end? Perhaps, had the two avoided deception, they might have evaded heartbreak. Then again, they might have also lost the chance at love, as they were two stubborn people intent on defying convention, it seemed, at any cost. This is a delightful tale. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to lovers of laugh-out-loud historical romance.

What a delightful read! The H and h both have no desire to marry as they are both enjoying their lives. However, their parents manage to get them to the same house party, and that is when the fun begins! I knew when Lady Alexandria introduced herself at the house party we were in for a treat! Oh I laughed and laughed!
Thank you Veronica Crowe for such an enjoyable story!

What a perfect read!!
This book right here was AWESOME, i loved every second of it, it was so fast paced and kept me on my toes throughout it, every single chapter was important and filled to the brim of well written scenes, my most favorite ones were lady Diana's scene with her father and Jeremy, it was lighthearted and so fun to read, and my second one was the reunion scene between Alexandra and Allyne, it was filled with tension and you could feel their anguish and despair.
The plot was immaculate, from their bizarre idea of exchanging their identities with their help, to the intense love story, then the departure of their love, to many more details.
The author is a GENIUS, the writing was so good, she knew how to deliver every climax scene, she managed to keep me hooked from the very first chapter.
One of my favorite books this year.

This is a quick and quite a fun read! The Viscount's Heir is the second book in the series and follows Alexandra and Allayne through a series of adventures, misadventures, misunderstandings, heartbreak and finally second chances. Confused? Let me explain. Without knowing, Allayne and Alexandra are brought together, but of their own accord they do not reveal to each other who they are. They fall in love but assuming that the other is a servant, each of them leave and finally not knowing who they are, they move on with their live, quite heartbroken.

Alexandra is later forced to take decisions for herself that will help her situation. As time goes by, the two end up in the same place and realize who they are. Though a lot has changed, they realize that their love for one another is still as strong as ever. Perhaps this is their second chance at a life together.

The characters are well thought out and quite entertaining. They bring the story to life and the author has kept it quite realistic. I truly enjoyed reading this book even though the sad parts and I am impressed with the resilience shown by Alexandra. She is truly a motivation and a pillar of strength given her circumstances.

I recommend this book to all those who love romance and would like a quick but emotional read!

Note: I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and am grateful for the opportunity to have read this book!

Allayne Carlyle, heir of Viscount Rose is in trouble all his friends are happily married, and now his mother has decided it is time for him to get married. He loves his life as a bachelor and no intentions of marring for a while. Lady Alexandra Davenport, the only daughter of the Earl of Weston has successfully been avoiding the marriage trap too, but now her father has set his sat his foot down and she marry or else. I love it when main characters change rolls. When they attend the same house party, but decide to swap identities with their servants. A captivating story unfolds as things don’t go quite as planned there’s twists and turns, humor and romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed this excellent book filled romance.

The Viscount's Heir by Veronica Crowe was a pleasure to read. She used a totally different plot, one I've not read before, and made it a question all along the read. Allayne Carlyle was to be the Viscount Rose some day in the future. Until then he was enjoying his life as a rake, except when he was avoiding his mother's matchmaking attempts. It was not easy; she was skillful. He was two and thirty and he's avoided so far, but it was tiring. Lady Alexandra Davenport was the daughter of the Earl of Weston and at five and twenty was considered past her prime. The problem was her father didn't see it that way. He wanted her married. He and several of his cronies had gotten together and found a perfect way to be certain the two would meet: Lady Penelope's house party. Neither was happy to be included in a house party where the next youngest guest was twice their age. As they were arriving, both had the same ingenious idea: switch places with their personal servants, a maid and a valet. The clothing exchange was not totally successful but it had worked. Here's the problem: the new valet and the new maid fell in love, as deed their "master and mistress." From there it was a comedy of errors. Some were funny, others were tragic.

This is a clever plot with endearing characters who did as they were expected. After trying to drink himself into oblivion, Allayne left for America to work with his father's interests there. He was good at it...very successful. After several years he began to notice the daughter of one of his colleagues. She reminded him of Anna (Alexandra) but he didn't admit that to himself. He eventually proposed to her and determined it was time to return to England, he being the dutiful son and all. His mother would be so happy. Alexandra had a tougher row to hoe, eventually marrying a duke much older than she. Both believed the other was totally out of their reaches, never realizing the mix-up. This was an extremely entertaining story full of characters readers have met previously and new ones that were lively and entertaining. Some of the exchanges between "the maid and the valet" were laugh-out-loud funny. Enchanting, endearing. Not enough adjectives. This book struck me. I loved it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of The Viscount's Heir by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #theviscountsheir

Full of humor, mistaken identities (disguised more like it), adventure and a long journey to happiness, fills this story to the end.

He is being pushed by his mother to make a match and marry. He's three and thirty and it is time. Unfortunately he just wants to continue is easy life and liaisons and not have to bend to a wife.
She is use to doing what she wants, more like a tomboy with her guns and horses, doing as she pleases, but her father has other ideas.

When these two unexpectedly meet, both disguised as servants, tere is not telling what will happen! Let the games begin!

A satisfying comedy of errors, this historical novel allows the reader to escape into Post-Regency England.

I really enjoyed The Viscount's Heir! This was the first historical romance novel in a long time that I've laughed out loud. Sometimes even a very unladylike snort was produced.

This is a story of mistaken identities and second chances.

The book begins with Allayne, a Viscount's heir, and Alexandra, a free spirited Earl's daughter, are forced to attend a matchmaking house party by their meddling parents. Neither want to attend, nor do they have any intentions of marrying.

Allayne and Alexandra switch places with their valet and lady's maid, respectively. So when Allayne and Alexandra first meet, as valet Andy and maid Anna, there is a tremendous pressure taken off of them. They are both afforded a freedom they hadn't experienced before.

The first half of the book was absolute joy, full of hilarious antics and watching two people fall madly in love. It was truly swoon-worthy. The tension and love was really palpable.

But of course, neither knows the other's true identity. So when the end of the house party comes, and their own valet and maid actually run off together and fall in love themselves, a series of mistakes and near misses occurs, that have consequences that last for years.

The book then takes a more serious turn, full of heartbreak and tough decisions. Four years go by, and Allayne and Alexandra still don't know the truth of their time in Bath.

Suspend your disbelief, because of course there are some instances where you know mutual friends and family must have talked to each other over the years. The ending was a bit abrupt, but when they meet again, sparks fly. The epilogue was weak. I would have liked to see five to ten years in the future, not literally one hour later (come on, that's not an epilogue, that's just the end of a chapter!)

The secondary characters were all likable, especially young Diana, who basically only appeared in one chapter but may have stolen the entire book!

I can't wait to read the other books in this series and to check out more from this author.

Content warning: cheating (on betrothed).

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own and freely given.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Oh my god! This book is the best historical romance book I've read so far within 2021! It's so so so worth reading, it contains funny moments, hot smut scenes (I need more btw), heart-wrenching moments, angsty moments, sad moments, and happy / fluff moments.
I'll definitely read more of the author's books!

This book was very enjoyable. It was funny and charming thru out whole book. Within a few chapters, I was hook whereas I couldn't put it down. Many times I found myself laughing while reading. I would recommend this book. It was lite and funny. I thought the characters were great and lively. I would like to have more scenes from the supporting group. I have this book a 4 instead of a 5 because I found it was rushed a little at the end. I would like to see a book on Diana in the future and look forward to future books from this author.

Allayne Carlyle always trying to avoid his mother's matchmaking ideas. She has coerced him into going to a house party where he will not know anyone. He will soon foil her plans for him. Our light-hearted hero may soon regret his spontaneous idea.

Lady Alexandra Davenport is happy as a spinster. Her life in the country with her hobbies and her father suit her fine. Her father however is blackmailing her into accepting that she will marry, or else!! Our heroine is looking for a harmless adventure.

This is a very funny historical romance, full of crazy characters. A prank that starts innocently could prove life changing. The story takes quite a few twists and turns.

Really great fun.

A special request to our author,

Please can we have Diana Radcliffe's story when she gets older. What a great little girl.

Allayne Carlyle, the only son and heir of Viscount Rose, is in a conundrum. All his friends are happily married, and his mother has decided it is time for him to do the same deed. But Allayne has no intentions of entering the parson's mousetrap. He is wealthy, handsome, and free. The world is at his fingertips. He is not done sowing his wild oats, and frankly, he wants to keep sowing said oats for the next decade. Lady Alexandra Davenport, the only daughter of the Earl of Weston, is in a similar predicament. She has been cleverly avoiding the matrimonial trap, but now that her twenty-fifth birthday has come around, her father has finally put his foot down. He had threatened to confiscate her most treasured possessions: her horse and her pistols if she does not come around and accept one of her many suitors. Then the pair are to attend the same house party, they decide to swap identities with their servants.
This is the second book in the series, a well written book with plenty of humour and two people falling in love but of course deceptions, misunderstandings & secrets all play a big part & things don’t go according to plan. The first part is a very entertaining romp, almost a farce but then things turn more serious& time passes until the pair are reunited. I found the book to be an enjoyable read with a good mix of humour, romance as well as having its darker sadder moments. I loved both Allayne & Alexandra whose road to a HEA was long & strewn with obstacles, if only they’d been honest with each other then it would have saved a lot of heartache. I also loved Diana who was priceless & Marion who totally deserves her HEA
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

What happens when two combustible things come together? EXPLODE!
Allayne Carlyle and Lady Alexandra Davenport do not want to be hog tied to anyone because they enjoy their life as it is currently.
Alexandria is what one would call an odd duck because she likes men type pursuits such as shooting, fencing, but that is not to say she doesn’t like lady things. She has interests in numerous charities and running her fathers home.
Allayne is a rake and loves his pursuit of willing widows. He also is a connoisseur of the arts, well let us say he likes the actresses.

So, let the shenanigans begin because these two are about to be bedeviled by a set of crafty families that are set on hitching their offspring together! Get ready for some laughs and twists!

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

What a book! I mean it in all the good ways - its an emotional rollercoaster! Lady Alexandra's father has been trying to get her wed for the longest time, finally at a house party she was to meet Alleyne, a Viscount's son, hopefully sparks would fly. When both of them arrived they obviously they realized a bunch of old people were at the house party, so they switched places with their maid, and valet. An instant attraction between the two and they spent two weeks together with their hidden identity. Eventually they sleep together, and they agree to meet in the morning to elope together. They both have second thoughts about marrying below their station. They both run away they both come back and miss each other. Little does Alexandra know is she's pregnant, she accepts an offer of an elderly duke and she tells him everything, he wants someone who can inherit the dukedom and not go to the next in line. Alleyne on the other hand has gone to America, to get over Alexandra. They meet again three years later Lady Alexandra, now a widow but Alleyne has a fiancee oh boy! But they can't keep their hands off of each other and his fiancee eventually bows out, and goes back to America
Eventually they end up together, which was wonderful, this is a really fast paced book, and full of emotions and get ready to get the Kleenex out.
First time reading a book by Veronica Crowe and I can assure you it won't be the last one. Ladies this one is definitely worth reading!
