Get Off My Lawn is a great picture book showing the importance of asking for permission and learning how our actions can cause others to be upset. It further goes into learning how to apologize once mistakes have been made. A great guide for kids to learn to think of others before we act and how to rectify bad choices.

Special thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review

This was a really cute book to read. It helps to show kids the importance of asking permission to do things and facing the consequences when you don't. I think the art is fantastic! It's super colorful and it's sure to keep the attention of children who read or or have it read to them. The only reason I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are a couple words that seem like they might be out of the scope of vocabulary for the demographic audience, but otherwise I think this is great for young kids

The neighborhood kids are excited to play and explore, but they don't realize they're doing something rude until Mr. Smith comes to yell at them to "Get off my lawn!" Can the kids make things right again?
This is the perfect book for introducing the concept of private property to young children and includes valuable advice for parents and teachers on how to help kids understand what it means to be respectful. It's easy to read and gets right to the point. I was amused by the funny faces of the kids in the illustrations but overall delighted by the colors and details.

What a super cute little book! It's perfect for toddler's and up, talking about the color of flowers and the importance of good manners and respect. The illustrations reminded me a lot of the graphics from the "Elf On The Shelf" holiday show, so that was super cute as well...

Thanks so much for letting me read this little gem!

A picture book for children teaching the value of thinking of others. And for grumpy adults to see the value of relationships with children.

Mr. Smith has a beautiful lawn filled with colorful beautiful flowers. The children across the street are drawn to Mr. Smith's yard and before you know it, the children have picked the flowers and have left his prized lawn in terrible shape. The wisdom of mom and a teaching opportunity arises when the children are confronted the hurt they caused. It is a lesson on admitting a wrong and more important, making it right. Not just a lesson for children but for adults as well. Highly recommend

A special thank you to Boy's Town Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This is a beautiful book. The illustrations are so pretty and really add to the telling of the story. This story is a great one to share with children to teach them boundaries and to respect other people's belongings. Mr Smith works really hard in his yard and has beautiful flowers. Those beautiful flowers attract the neighborhood kids who play and basically destroy his yard. At first the children do not understand why he is so upset with them. They think he is mean. Then a parent explains to them that it is rude to play on someone's property without their permission. The children then come up with some ideas to try and make it right. They paint some pretty pictures of flowers and help him clean up his yard. They realize that Mr Smith isn't so mean after all.
The perfect story to have a conversation with your children. There are some talking points at the end to help aide the discussion.

A group of little children decide to play in Mr. Smith’s garden but their play turns out to be a disaster for the delicate floral plants.

If I had to rate this book for the message itself, it would have been a solid 5 stars. It brings up lessons of utmost importance: respecting others’ property, asking for permission, considering things from others’ perspective, apologising when necessary, and taking responsible and corrective action for any damages caused by you. Each of these morals is a must for children.

However, the book felt too short as most of the pages contained just a few words and it was over even before I realised it. (The blurb of this book on Goodreads is longer than the entire story!) The illustrations were decent. The tips to parents and educators at the end of the book are very helpful. But I can’t help feeling that the story should have had a little more. I will still recommend it to all parents as a must-buy for young kids who rarely see things from any perspective other than their own.

This would be the perfect mentor text for teaching about respecting others' property and wishes as well as taking accountability for your mistakes and making amends for those mistakes. A good companion for lessons for teachers or parents.

This book isn't for me, but saying that it was okay and clear on the purpose. I just think the story could have been done in a better way.

Beautiful (and fun!) illustrations! and a great message!

The book is short, 36 or so pages. Kids are playing in the neighbors flower beds and mess them up; see how they repair the situation. What a great little book for young children!

This is a great book for children. It is an important lesson for children to think about how their actions will affect others. It’s also an important lesson in learning how to appropriately take responsibility for those actions and apologize.

In Get Off My Lawn! the author explores the concepts of impulse control, asking permission, and making an apology in child friendly terms. I especially liked how the book went back and forth between high reading level passages and beginning-reader sentences that used repetition. I could picture parents or educators taking turns with the child to keep them engaged in the story. The illustrations are vibrant and the story is very well-meaning.

An amazing picture book which teaches kids to be polite and apologize when it is required.

It also teaches about different colours.

And yes, kids should not judge the elderly too soon.

Things work out more often when we are polite and kind.

Love the illustrations.

Thank you, Authors and the publisher.for the advance reading copy.
