Kerrigan Byrne is one of my fave historical romance writers around. I just love this series because it's so unique in that these heroes are not your typical, standard lords and peers that are the love interests! I just loved the plot of this one and was so excited to see Gabriel get his story - the one thing that kind of frustrated me was how timid and afraid of everything Felicity was.

I'm very excited to get my hands on book 4 though!

An intriguing story where the hero has suffered a hellish existence and doesn't believe himself worthy. Suffering from horrendous scars, Gabriel undergoes surgery in order to transform his face, and in so doing, becomes someone else. Thus, a longtime friend, Felicity, hires him as her protector, unaware that Gabriel is in fact the same man who saved her life once - someone she knows exceedingly well, though he's always worn a mask until now.
Kerrigan Byrne excels at writing tortured heroes and Gabriel is no exception. The romance between him and Felicity, a woman he's cared for and watched over for more than a year while hiding in the shadows, afraid she cannot love him in return, is wonderfully well executed.
A delightful 'beauty and the beast' story you won't want to miss!

Tempting Fate is book 4 in the Goode Girls series and while I didn't read any of the previous books it read fine as a standalone. When I first read the description of this book I knew I had to read it. I just love the scarred, tortured characters and Gabriel definitely fit the bill. He has lived a very hard and sad life, the only love he had came from his brother. Felicity was a very sweet character that had been sheltered by her family for a long time. I loved how she blossomed with Gabriel and showed her family that while she has her issues she's not a child that needs sheltering. I also loved the fact that the both of them were inexperienced. Now while I enjoyed the story I did find it slow at times and felt the ending was rushed. I look forward to reading the sister's stories.

I have been looking forward to reading about Gabriel since he was first introduced. I was not disappointed and I really liked him as a hero. I enjoyed Felicity's innocence and their relationship together. The threat to Felicity was really interesting but the reveal was a little rushed. I wanted more at the end but other than that I throughly enjoyed this book.

Sigh.... so in love with this book and series! And we even find out there are more Goode siblings to read about! Gabriel and Felicity are adorable together. As with all of the author's books, there is plenty of adventure, mystery, and just the right amount of romance!

Felicity is the shy twin of Mercy, she is very sheltered by her family because she just seems so innocent and good natured. Gabriel was disfigured as a boy and as such doesn't believe anyone is capable of loving him. He has lived a life of crime and lives up to his name of "Monster". But he has always watched Felicity from afar and has rescued her in a previous book. So when he runs in to her and see thinks he's there to be her bodyguard he goes with it. Felicity starts to see past his appearance and falls in love with the true Gabriel; but when someone starts trying to murder Felicity; can he protect her while keeping his heart unattached?

This is another scrumptious story from Ms. Byrne and I love all of the Goode sisters, with their various personalities and talents. With Felicity’s twin Mercy away, she lives alone with her staff although sisters Nora and Prudence and their husbands live close by.

Felicity is a character that you don’t see too often – shy, anxious, fainting and yet she has such a good heart. Everyone in her family wants to take care of her and keep her safe. To know that Gabriel saved her in the previous book and becomes a part of this story, was so intriguing. He has his own terrors from childhood and a life of crime, but he and his brother Raphael worked out a plan to get out of that life which.

I loved how Felicity literally ran into Gabriel and assumes he’s there for the bodyguard position. I loved how fiercely protective he was over her and yet felt they could never be together. She had money and following her father’s instructions, was to wed at least a viscount or higher. Gabriel thought Felicity needed and deserved the sweetness and soft life with a good marriage.

The fact that Felicity felt safest with this huge, grumbly hero with the scared face was just so beautiful because she looked beyond his face. The romance was a slow burn but the chemistry was there from the beginning.

The reveal of the villain(s) was unexpected and the surprising details and follow up was glossed over quickly.

The story was shorter than I liked and wanted more interactions, but I loved how Gabriel and Felicity became so free being loved by each other and want to see more of them.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this new work.

I loved this. I was hesitant since I didn't love Mercy's story but this one was a gem. You can't help but love Gabriel and his broken self. Felicity isn't my favorite Goode but she fits Gabriel. She's so kind and sweet to him. We don't get much time with the other sisters but I enjoyed Gabriel so much, I didn't care. I've said it before and I will say it again, I love me some broken men that want to be good.

I was looking for a quick read and you love historical romance and I found Tempting Fate. It is just 230 pages so I knew I could read that in on sitting and I did.
I just absolutely loved the previous books in the series and yes I did love this one. So well done and so entertaining.

Author Kerrigan Byrne teased us with glimpses of a possible future match between fearsome, but shy Felicity Goode and tragically scarred Gabriel Sauvageau in the previous two books in this series, leaving this reader on pins and needles. As soon as I got my greedy hands on a copy of Tempting Fate, I cleared my schedule and read it from cover to cover in just a few hours. The closer I got to the final page I found myself emotionally at odds with wanting to see how it would end and not wanting it to end at all. It's just that good! (pun intended)

Sweet, Funny, Sexy, Emotionally Evocative and the kind of ending that makes you want to Judd Nelson/Breakfast Club fist pump in the air to the tune of "Don't you forget about me!"

This entire series has kept me enthralled and impatiently waiting for more!

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another well written novel by this author. Byrne brings sexual tension to another level as she sets the reader ablaze with her character's desires and devotion. My heart melted for the disfigured hero who although grew up in a world of violence learned to love and trust with the beautiful, selfless heroine. Their interactions were intense and genuine. Two broken souls finding their way to each other under a blaze of heat so intense I was scourged. Loved it!

I loved Felicity. Her natural curiosity and love of life is so beautiful. Yes, she is shy and has been protected for most of her life. But she isn't spoiled and she isn't stupid. When there appears to be threats to her life, she hires a bodyguard. Gabriel.

Gabriel is a severely disfigured hero at the end of the previous book and I loved that he was so obsessed with protecting Felicity, enough to risk his hidden identity to keep herself while her family is away. He just can't stay away, but all he wants to do is protect and not get too wrapped up in her temptation. Naturally, that's not going to happen.

“Why read them if you know the ending?”
“Because one likes to watch the journey unfold….romance might not be the most respected subject, but there are times when one needs to know that at least in one story, everything ends as it should...happily” (Kerrigan Byrne "Tempting Fate")

Five stars. I cannot believe how much I adore this book.

I finished reading this book almost twenty-four hours ago. In this time I have incessantly talked the heads off of my boyfriend and my best friend about how much I loved this book. If I’m honest I am still thinking back on some scenes that seem almost stuck with me. “Tempting Fate” is not just the happily ever after at the end but the journey that the characters have to go through to get there. I found myself blushing, laughing and even tearing up at a few points as I followed Gabriel and Felicity to their happy ending. What I love is their happy ending is not just them being together but them being with family.

“Tempting Fate” by Kerrigan Byrne is the fourth book in A Goode Girls Romance. This novel follows our heroine Felicity Goode and our hero Gabriel Sauvagea. Felicity Goode is the only Goode sister that lives up to their last name. She is genuinely sweet, kind without expectation and extremely forgiving. These traits are what makes her a perfect match for our hero Gabriel Sauvageau. He has never truly known kindness and after being disfigured at a young age he has made a living being known as a monster. However, Felicity does not see him for who he has been but who he truly is. It makes their romance so satisfying as you see them both grow stronger and emotionally connect. Their journey is not without problems. There is someone trying to kill Felicity and it is Gabriel that steps forward to protect her all while he tries to keep his hands and heart to himself.

This isn’t her most steamiest read but I honestly don’t think this book needed it. Their romance was sweet and deserved a nice slow build. So when the steamier scenes happen they are so worth it but also hold a bit of tenderness.

Without giving spoilers there is a character Emmett that makes a small appearance… I hope he and his sisters get their own book.

This is a fantastic series! Gabriel knows nothing but violence, while Felicity is terrified by most everything in life. They are such an unlikely pair, but magnificent together. Felicity and Gabriel bring out the vulnerability in each other and embrace it to make them both stronger. After reading Mercy and Raphael's story I was eagerly waiting for this one. This is a wonderful story written in a way that draws you in and makes you feel their story instead of just reading about it.

** spoiler alert ** Felicity is the youngest of four girls. She is not married because not only is she a blue stocking and very fearful, but she has not met anyone interesting. Her parents died in a carriage accident while they were on the continent,. So she inherited what ever was not entailed. But she had to marry a peer. Now that her mourning period ended she had to have a season. She had gone to a meeting and had been accosted on her way home and advertised for protection.
Gareth Severand was a smuggler and criminal. Felicity mistook him and thought he was applying for the job. But he took it to keep her safe. He was a huge man and very strong, He had saved her life before but she didn't recognized him.
I thought this a wonderful story. It was filled with danger, fear, and so much was happening. I don't think her family realized how much danger she was in. The change in Gareth as the tale went on was amazing. I am going to read the other books of this series , it has me intrigued. Thank you for the wonderful novel.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Finally a book on my beloved Gabriel!

I have to say I was hoping for his book ever since they showed up in the first book and I was so happy when I saw he would get a book. I was even happier when I got approved for this book on NetGalley.

Felicity and Gabriel met again, this time on the property of Felicity’s house. She hires him immediately as her bodyguard and he starts to live with her (in a room next to her). They share their stories, moments and they start to develop something for each other. Well, Gabriel actually always had a crush on her so it was Felicity who starts to see Gabriel as something more.

She doesn’t recognize him because he is completely different. Titus (Felicity’s brother-in-law) has helped him develop a new identity but also a new face because Gabriel was very injured in childhood therefore he started wearing masks. I didn’t like that he didn’t tell her who he was since the first time they met (again). I don’t like people who deceive other people.

I could relate to Felicity and her problems. I loved how Gabriel helped her cope when she started having these attacks. Although, I do have to add that I didn’t see her being introverted and shy around man as much as the blurb portrayed her. In the end, the story was quite rushed (the big mystery and all), while the relationship between Felicity and Gabriel was actually quite a slow burn (them being intimate at around 90 %.

The story also didn’t reveal what happens next. I mean, there is talk of a man from their gang who is possibly running around and could be a danger to Felicity and others but there’s never talk if they catch him or not. I assume it’s in the next books. Felicity learns Gareth is Gabriel and I wished that we get a glimpse in the future. Like do they now exist again as Sauvageau brothers or do they keep new identities?

I am giving it 4 stars but that’s because I’ve been really wanting to read this book and I also love books that have characters with any kind of disability or unconventional beauty.

Kerrigan Byrne is forever a consistent author writing solid and lovable stories.

This is the fourth book in Byrne's Goode Girls series and is Felicity and Gabriel's story. Felicity is in a spot of danger and Gabriel, under his alias, ends up as her guard. I loved both characters, especially Gabriel. A girl gets a little tired of rakes and Gabriel was a refreshing, beautiful character. Ugh I loved him. Felicity is a vulnerable girl and incredibly forgiving. While I may not be as forgiving as Felicity is, I appreciated those characteristics in her.

This series strikes a different tone that Byrne's other books. These books are a tad shorter and the love stories are a tad bit less angsty and emotional. The love happens quickly and conflicts are also resolved just as quickly given the length of the book. This addition to the series is similar as well.

While I still love some of Kerrigan Byrne's other books a little more (they are longer and, due to the length, I have a deeper emotional connecter to those very well fleshed out characters) , I think this is a perfect, quick read that hits the right spot if you're in the mood for a relatively short and well written romance. In the book, Felicity talks about how sometimes we all need to read about happy endings and Felicity is right!! I loved the comfort that I found in this book and the love and happy ending we get to this story.

Kerrigan Byrne is just an author I will forever keep coming back to. Looking forward to her next book!

Breathtaking !
This book made Kerrigan Byrne climb immediately to the top five of my favourite authors. She has a way with words that makes her characters come alive… Their thoughts, expectations, desires, all of them are so vividly described that they wrenched my heart. Felicity is lovely with all her clumsiness and difficulties to overcome, but Gabriel… Wow! You can’t help but love him and suffer along with him. Definitely worth buying and reading. And of course you must definitely read the other books of the series, because the Goode sisters are really a treat!

4 stars. This book was my favorite of the series and so good! Tempting Fate is the final book in the Goode Girls series and, the final sister, Felicity's story. Felicity is the last sister at home left unmarried. In the previous books, Felicity met Gabriel, who is the brother of her sister's husband and is badly disfigured so he wears a mask. When last she saw him, he saved Felicity's life but afterwards she is heartbroken when she is told that he died. Now, in the present, Felicity is expected to marry and for her husband the run the family business, since her parents are gone. Strange things start happening and it seems someone is trying to hurt or kill her. So Felicity decides to hire a bodyguard of sorts to protect her, and in a stroke of fate, Gabriel turns up and takes the job. As they spend time together, their initial connection develops into love and a happily ever after.

I really liked Felicity. Her character was much more relatable to me than her more brash sisters. She is shy and has anxiety. Gabriel is the strong and very silent type and has been fascinated with her from the moment he met her. He absolutely adored her and worshipped the ground she walked on. They were so sweet together and I loved that they were each other's first everything. This was a low angst read with no big blow up. It was a romantic, sweet and sexy story and an easy read. I was so glad to see Felicity and Gabriel, who never imagined they would find love, so happy together. They were a great match.

Overall, this book was a good wrap up to this fun series! I have liked all of the Goode sisters' stories very much. I really enjoyed Gabriel and Felicity's journey to love and I look forward to more from Ms. Byrne in the future!
