I can do this for hours!! The book got exciting stuffs to do while you are in a car (and answer key too! That's important, right?) Even in some of the pages, you can do it with a sibling! Cool, right? Mazes, find the correct answers and drawing a story are some of the activity you can do with this book.

IN THE CAR
ACTIVITY BOOK
by: Steve Martin, Putri Febriana
The best take-along for a child's family road trip, except maybe the snacks, just might be the IN THE CAR ACTIVITY BOOK. Martin and Febriana's creative book provides almost 40 entertaining learning activities, with transportation, and travel themes, for children before, during and after their journey. This book would be fun even on a rainy day when you can't travel! As an elementary speech-language pathologist AND great-aunt, I appreciate the variety of communication, academic, and life skills incorporated into such fun tasks.
LET'S LEARN: The road trip theme is prominent on each page. Settings include race track, car wash, town, ferry, garage, and gas station/convenience store. What child wouldn't love activities such as sketching, drawing, journaling, designing, matching, dot-to-dot, puzzles, and playing games such as bingo. The teacher in me loves the skills taught of art, reasoning, vocabulary, concepts, problem solving, wh- and yes/no questions, math, visual-spatial, and sequencing. All activities could teach oral language and social skill development when talking about the activities and incorporating what's learned into real life. An answer key is included.
LET'S HAVE FUN - EXAMPLES: filling in a driver's license and a car safety form, drawing a poster to advertise monster trucks, planning and packing for a trip, writing journal entries about the trip, designing a limo, and service station search.
LET'S GO: So, now it's time to gather the family and friends, some pencils, crayons, colored pencils, and In the Car Activity book. Whether by car, train, boat, or plane, it's time to travel! Don't forget the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!
Thank you to Net Galley, Quarto Publishing Group - Wide Eyed Editions, and the authors for the Advanced Review Copy and opportunity to review this delightful children's activity book.

I love Wide Eyed books and this one is as great as the many others I've read. It's a car themed activity book but isn't the sort where you'd complete the puzzles and throw it away. It's more like a journal with a car/travel theme. The puzzles are really interesting and the variety is huge. There are the more usual spot the difference activities but also comic strip templates, short story writing and quizzes about driving and road safety. This would make a really lovely gift for a child to complete and treasure.

What an awesome activity book perfect for family road trips! There is a huge array of colorfully illustrated activities and logic games for kids about driving and trips. I would have loved this as a kid as my family went on many road trips. I would suggest this for children around 7-10.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group-Wide Eyed Editions for providing this ARC.

This is such a cute activity book for young children who need entertainment while traveling. The first activity is to make a driver’s license which surely will put a child in the mood for a road trip. Some of the activities include building a race track (with colored pencils, for example); Stop That Car! (where a child figures out who is speeding); Spot the Difference, Color by Numbers, Dot-to-Dot and many more.

I recommend this brightly illustrated book. It will keep a little one busy. It will also give them some time away from electronic screens.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

So sue me, but I present this review without having completed this book. Colouring by numbers doesn't work on a digital review copy, I'll have you know. I'm not too sure that careful drawing exercises can be done in a car on a car trip, but if you expand this to a camping holiday, or RV breakdowns or anything else that might provide for a stable time when a youngster might need a distraction, this is perfect. Everything's car- and travel-related, so the word search is actually for strings of numbers off rally car doors, the spot-the-difference is a repair or MOT garage, and so on. Perhaps too many of the contents are use-once puzzles, and there could have been more that engage the imagination, creation and seeking inspiration from looking out the car windows, but this gets a thumbs-up. Just watch out for travel sickness, now.
