I loved loved loved this book! Frankly I couldn’t imagine that Hank could outdo herself - l’ve read every one of her mystery novels and they are all incredibly well written and wonderfully entertaining. But, as impossible as it seems, they keep getting even better!
The story of Lily, a television reporter who has been trying to find her long-lost older sister Carrie for 25 years, seems sad but straightforward at first. Of course, nothing is as it seems as we embark on a suspenseful roller coaster ride through the mountains of intrigue surrounding carries disappearance.
Hank is a master of suspense, and for all of you who appreciate a complicated mystery full of twists and turns this is a must- read! Thank you Hank

Television reporter Lily Atwood has it all - a beautiful house, an adorable young daughter, a loving puppy, a few Emmys - the perfect life. But underneath it all, Lily has always wondered what happened to her older sister Cassie, who disappeared during her freshman year of college when Lily was 11. Suddenly, a confidential source threatens to upend Lily's perfect life - how far is Lily willing to go to keep her past from becoming public?

I adore Hank Phillippi Ryan and was so excited for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. I was not disappointed. I couldn't put it down and was dying to know the truth about Cassie. I really enjoyed the character of Greer and would love for Ryan to feature her again in another book :) All in all, this was yet another fun thriller from Hank Phillippi Ryan and I'm excited to see what she does next!

Everyone knows Lily Atwood has the perfect life 💁🏼‍♀️ - she’s a gorgeous television reporter with awards, has a beautiful home, and a loveable 7 year old daughter, Rowan. Not even her producer, Greer, knows the secrets that Lily hides. Lily has a new source who’s been helping give her incredible stories, but he suddenly reveals that he knows more about her life than he should...

This was a really quick read for me! The story is told from a few different perspectives, which helps keeps you guessing at what is going on. The main storyline is in the present, with glimpses into the past, at what happened when Lily was younger. There’s also a side plot that ties in at the end that added to the intrigue. 😮

I really liked how Lily is portrayed - she works hard to keep her perfect persona, but deep down she’s focused on her family. Greer tries to be close to Lily, but, whether or not she admits it, she resents Lily and her actions are driven by her pettiness. If Lily can’t trust her producer, who can she trust?

I am not necessarily the most savvy thriller reader, but I didn’t see the twists coming, which is great, because it kept me guessing until almost the end! 👀

✨Thank you to Netgalley and Tor books for a free copy of the ebook, in exchange for my honest review.✨

I love author Hank Phillippi Ryan's books generally, but this one fell short for me. I tried and tried to really like it but I just could not get into it. I think there was too much "perfect Lily" going on and then there was her jealous, catty assistant Greer. The characters were not likeable. It was told in a dual timeline 25 years apart with multiple narrators and that caused confusion at times. It did seem to get better in the second half but by then I had lost interest.

Thank you NetGalley and Forge Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book tells us the story of Lily Atwood, a reporter with a perfect reputation that she and her producer, Greer, work very hard to maintain. The thing is when Lily was a young kid her older sister Cassie vanished, and it still hunts her, so, when her anonymous source starts hinting things about her daughter, her personal life, and her seemingly deceased sister, she wants to get to the bottom of this story, all without risking her perfect reputation.
I expected an outstanding, hooking, and ravishing book, but it was more of a junction of common elements of mystery books, that unfortunately didn't really fit well. The story has a slow start and it was hard for me to pick up the pace of the reading, I enjoyed going through it, though, we have the points of view of both Lily and Greer through which we get a less flattery view of Lily that made me dislike her quite a bit, as well as the story of Cassie during the days leading up to her disappearance, so it was very nice to try and put things together and put together a theory that made sense seeing what was happening in the present. But, as things seemed to have come to a reasonable ending, the author tried to insert two major plot twists in a very short period, leaving the book with a story not very believable and doesn't really live up to what we read in the whole book.
I did enjoy the writing style of the author and the changes in the characters' points of view, as well as the length of the chapters, it was a nice book, but didn't keep me hooked.

It was quite the journey for me to get through this book because the beginning was a bit slow. This story was told in two timelines, about 25 years between them and they eventually meet at the same point in time. It’s a story about Lily Atwood, a TV reporter, who is adored by her viewers and IG followers who call her #PerfectLily. But is her life perfect though? Lily’s past has its own secrets which includes her older sister, Cassie, who disappeared at 18 when Lily was just 7 years old.

It was hard for me to connect with the characters except for Lily to an extent. She works hard to keep her “perfect life” persona but her focus is on her family, her daughter. She tries her best to keep her daughter out of the public eye.

The book eventually picked up in the middle and with a shocking twist in the end but not enough for me to love this book.

Despite the slow-paced beginning, it was an interesting read, but definitely not a book that I would want to re-read. This is just my honest opinion and I’m sure there are others who may enjoy this book. It was just not my cup of tea.

Thank you to MacMillan-Tor/Forge and Netgalley for the digital ARC of this book!

Multiple plot lines and overlapping character relationships made this thriller a little hard to focus on, but it was a quick read with a strong resolution.

Lily Atwood is a star reporter for a Boston television station. She is popular and instantly recognizable and has crafted a "perfect" image for herself. A mysterious source has been feeding her accurate information but that soon comes with a price, one that can unravel her entire life and that of her young daughter. This is a bit lighter than Ryan's other standalone mysteries but it is a good read. The tension builds nicely and the descriptions are good.

Another winner for Hank Phillippi Ryan this story revolves around Lily Atwood a star to the public with a very private background. Lily, her sister Carrie and her Producer Greer blend into a complicated tale of secrets..Great characterizations in a twisty story!!

Thank you to MacMillian-Tor Publishers and NetGalley for the gifted copy.

This suspenseful mystery is about a sister who disappeared. It is about sister relationships. The novel also has Multiple Narrators and it was interesting to see how different women perceived the same thing. The narrators include two sisters and the personal assistant. No one is perfect though someone thinks that someone else's life is perfect. It is all about perspective.

While this story starts out with a slow pace, it builds into quite a thriller! Lily Atwood has several secrets from the past that threaten to damage her very perfect, very public, life. The way people from her past come back into her life is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!

First, I want to thank Netgalley, Forge Books, and Hank P Ryan for allowing me to read & review Her Perfect Life before it’s pub date. This one was an interesting read; it definitely kept me guessing until the end.

Famous & loved tv reporter, Lilly Atwood, seems to have the perfect life: perfect job, perfect daughter, perfect house. But she’s been hiding a secret from everyone. Lily has an anonymous source that feeds her tips for her job, until that source starts feeding her tips about the secret she’s been trying to keep. How much is Lilly willing to risk to keep her perfect image?

Ok so, while this book kept me guessing, it was also hard to follow at times. The POV switches between 3 characters and between past & present. I felt like certain parts were a bit choppy and didn’t quite flow together, until about the halfway point. The 2nd half of the book definitely caught my attention more than the 1st half. As soon as I got halfway through, it picked up and I found myself rushing through to see what happens. I did enjoy some parts, but for me, this was just an ok read.

I enjoyed this read! I read it not realizing it was part of this collection with the same characters, but loved seeing the perspective of the formerly missing sister. Thanks for sending!

Not my favorite from this author. Took me awhile to get into it the beginning is a bit slow. But it Does pick up in the middle and the ending is a good one.
Not loveable characters I think that's why I had a hard time getting into it.
Give this one a chance.

I received an ARC of Her Perfect Life from NetGalley. I feel obligated to finish these complimentary books in order to give them a fair review. It was difficult with this one as I didn’t really find the main characters very likable. Except for Rowen, the daughter, I found the rest of the key characters to be somewhere between whiney and hysterical. I wanted the story to be better but some of the coincidences stretched credulity and, even when you learned how they came about, it was too late to be that interested. There was minor redemption in the wrap-up as it wasn’t too contrived but the mystery and the twists were not compelling by then.

Lily was 7 when her 18 year old sister, Cassie, disappears while away at college. The disappearance changed Lily’s life and even after becoming a very famous journalist, Lily couldn’t leave the past behind.
After an anonymous “source” started giving Lily leads on stories, she soon started receiving leads on her own life and that of her long gone sister.
Trying to keep her daughter safe, her career intact. Lily begins to investigate what really happened to Cassie that long ago night.
Lots of twists and turns lead up to a great ending that I didn’t predict. Great read!

Entertaining and unputdownable! Not only was this story suspenseful, it was well written. Highly recommend!

I have not read any books by Hank Phillippi Ryan before but this won't be my last. I enjoyed this thriller as upon reflection I think the goals of getting into a character's head, thoughts, and worries, forcing the reader to move at a pace that some might find slow but is actually part of the experience of this character, was achieved. This had a different pace and feel as compared to other thrillers I have read this summer, and that added to my appreciation for the book, the plot, and this author. For me the story became less about Lily and her missing sister Cassie and more about the journey to understand the character's day to day life as well as her past experiences; we are who we are because of how we see the world and process it and yet how can we separate out our past, those who we work and live with, and where we work and live? If a reader steps back and thinks about the intersections present in this book it is an interesting and engaging thriller!

thank you NetGalley and MacMillan-Forge for this arc and also introducing me to a new author to be shared with my mystery book club and other book chats I am a part of. I appreciated the chance to read this book!

Thank you to Netgalley and Forge Reads for an eARC of “Her Perfect Life.”

I was so excited for this one because the main character is a reporter. I found out after receiving the ARC that the author is an investigative TV reporter in Boston — just like the main character.

Lily Atwood is a star TV reporter, adored by viewers and her 58k Instagram followers who call her #PerfectLily. But Lily’s past has its own secrets — including an older sister, Cassie, who disappeared at 18, when Lily was 7.

Lily has an off-the-record source who’s pointed in her in the direction of several big stories. But suddenly the source is telling her information about her own life and she’s receiving stalkerish lily bouquets. Who is the source, actually? And what do they want?

This book more than lived up to my expectations. The journalistic parts of the book are well handled, obviously because the author herself is a reporter. I did not see the twist coming, and I was hungrily reading along until the very last page.

I haven’t seen much hype around this one, but trust me when I say you should add it to your list if you like a good media-themed storyline and a twisty thriller. It also isn’t excessively dark or violent so if you’re looking for a thriller in that category, it’s perfect for you.
