I am not usually one for excerpts just because I feel like I get a slice of the book and I need more. But I took this bit so I could see if I would really like the book. And I did. I really wanted to read the whole book right then and there!

Would love to read the rest of this thriller - two men murdered - is it random? Their windows seek the answer - can’t wait to find out how this turns out

The title, cover, and premise of this book were intriguing to me, so I was excited to read the excerpt. The set up is of two widows who have murdered husbands in common but the small portion I read does not yet reveal how their lives will intersect. Still, I enjoy novels with strong and unusual female characters so I plan to read the full story. I like the idea of two widows (an "ambush") exploring a mystery together. Thank you to NetGalley for this excerpt!

In this excerpt, the reader discovers the plot of this thriller. Two men in the IT industry have been found together, both murdered. Both leave behind a wife, the women very different and who have never met. Yet now they need to come together to discover what happened to their husbands and see if they can bring the killer to justice.

This was my first novel by Jeff Abbott and it totally exceeded my expectations! It was a slow burn but the ending really made up for it! I really liked it!

Definitely a page turner. Being that I only read an excerpt of the book I can tell you that I am already hooked and want to read the book even more now. It's one of those books that you keep reading because you are just dying to know what happened. The book starts off where Kirsten North gets a call that her husband is dead. The person just hangs up the phone and she doesn't know anything else. There is another woman Flora Zhang whose husband is also dead. The two men never met but yet somehow they died together. I have a feeling there will be a lot of twists and turns and I can't wait to keep reading to find out more.

More to update once I've read the full book.

Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the excerpt of An Ambush of Widows. The excerpt was interesting, but not enough for me to get impressions of the story or the characters and writing. I was sorry the excerpt ended though so that's a good sign that the book would be good!

Soooo many plot twits. This is the kind of book you won’t be able to put it down. So really make a plan when you want to start reading it so you don’t spend your night up like myself.. haha. These characters are very engaging. Abbott delivered an incredible thriller. I can easily see this book turning into a movie.
I’m definitely getting the hard copy of this book to read again.

I had the opportunity to read an excerpt of An Ambush of Widows, by Jeff Abbott, and now I am intrigued!

The book opens with a woman receiving a call from her husband's phone, but it is not her husband on the other end of the line; and, the man on the phone says her husband, who is supposed to be on business in New York, is dead, in Austin. The woman immediately books a flight to Austin to find out what has happened to her husband; and, unbeknownst to her, she ends up sitting next to her husband's apparent assassin on the flight. It seems she is his next target!

Meanwhile, in another town, another widow is mourning the unexpected death of her husband, as well. When she sees a light on in what should be the empty penthouse she and her husband were set to move into, she sneaks away from her fellow mourners to investigate....

And, that's all I know at this point. How will these two stories intersect, and why are husbands getting murdered? I need to get my hands on this book!

Thank you to NetGalley for an excerpt of this book in exchange for my honest review. Now I'm hooked!

This excerpt was enough of a tease to interest me in this book. If the rest is as suspenseful as the excerpt, it will be a winner!

A fantastic thriller that exceeded my expectations. Kritsten is surprised to receive a call fro her husbands phone with a stranger on the other end. They tell her her husband is dead. He is somewhere where he should it be. She hooks up with another r window to determine what happened to their decreased husbands. This book surprised me until the end!

Well this book just shot up to the top of my TBR. The excerpt had me invested from the very beginning. If it starts off this good, the end has to be great!

Of the excerpt that I did read I will say that I did enjoy it. The back and forth frenetic nature of the situation. The mystery seems interesting enough. Based on the excerpt I was given, id probably at some point would like to read this book.

Ch. 1. “An Ambush of Widows” came out of the gate without time for sweet character introductions, but an instant strong pull to keep reading what is sure to be tension filled in its entirety.

Ch. 2. Definitely going to be two very strong female MC’s throughout this is book, which is evident early on as much as feeling there are going to be vicious and exciting exposures of secrets to come within these relationships.

Ch. 3. In my excitement to see this title as “read now” I missed “excerpt” so I was bummed, but thankful to read those 3 chapters, because even though my excitement reading this began and abruptly ended like someone slipped a noose around my neck then pulled the chair out, I know that this book will definitely be a………..
