I read the excerpt for An Ambush of Widows by Jeff Abbott and oh my gosh I MUST know more! The teaser really hooked me starting with a cripic phone call and ending with an apartment light being on in an empty apartment. I cannot wait to read the rest of the book and see where Abbott takes the story! I already know it be a stay up super late to finish kind of suspenseful book!
After reading this two chapter excerpt from An Ambush of Widows, I'm really looking forward to reading the whole book once the library gets copies. It sounds like it'll be a twisty thriller. I haven't read much of Jeff Abbott's work but did enjoy the one book of his I did read.
After just reading the excerpt, I cannot wait to read the full book. It sounds so good! I will be checking this out, when it releases! I read his last book and loved it, I know this one will be just as good!
The star rating is for the excerpt provided. Exciting set up for a double murder mystery, told from the perspectives of the two widows left behind. Neither understands who the man that was with her husband was, why they were together nor why they were killed. To make things more tense, one of the widows is being stalked by the hitman. Promises a good page-turner mystery!
This is very gripping and although difficult to review an excerpt, it has definitely made me want to read on and buy the book when it is published!
Wow I can’t wait to read this book. Just based on this excerpt it will be fantastic. I was wondering abou this author and this book so now I know. I can’t wait and I just added it to my list. Thank you!
It is very difficult to review an excerpt . Sometimes books start very strong and then somehow lose their zeal .
That said, the beginning is very promising....
AN AMBUSH OF WIDOWS starts off strong. I like how the plot moves nice and quickly while at the same time giving us good insight into the characters. I'm so curious what will happen to Kirsten and Flora. I was surprised that we also get the point of view of the bad guy, but that does add a nice layer of tension.
Klingen spannend die Seiten der Vorschau so weit, das Buch würde ich sicher gerne bald mal lesen! Soll ja ein bekannter Autor sein...
WOW this is a teaser and I am. hooked I need to see what happens in the rest of this but definitely a book I will enjoy!
Hint Of Explosive Storyline...
Secrets, lies and murder in this psychological suspense. Strong writing leads the way with well drawn characters and a hint of an explosive storyline. As this is an excerpt only it is impossible to judge further but this reader would definitely read on.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this excerpt. I will be looking for this book when it comes out. This teaser sets up a great story and I need to know the why and what happens to the 2 wives written about in these pages.
I just read the excerpt and I cannot wait to read the whole book when it comes out! It caught my attention from the first page and when the excerpt was finished, I was disappointed. I will be first in line for this one!
This was a VERY short excerpt that grabbed my attention right from the beginning. The good thing is that many books take a little bit of time as they start to set the stage and begin the world building, but I was intrigued almost from the first couple of paragraphs.
Unfortunately, we were only given a couple of Chapters. There were 2 POV from the wives of the two murdered businessmen and one surprisingly POV from the Assassin.
I am definitely interested in getting this book when it is published. I didn't think that such a short tease would have grabbed me as much as it did, so the bottom line was that it was extremely effective.
I just looked and the publish date is July 2021. Two months...I can wait that long....
Thank you to NetGalley for approving this ARC for me. All of the opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.
This was just an excerpt and it gave me a clear idea about the story line and plot. the story souds really intriguing and I am definitely going to purchase this book
Well, it kind of sucks only getting to read just an excerpt from this book. It really has me intrigued to see how it all turns out. Great original premise for a book about 2 wives(widows) whose husbands are both murdered.. I can see this having a nice twist or two. Reading this short excerpt does really give much room to write much of a review. Anyway, can't wait to finish this if the publisher would be kind enough to send me a full copy. Whatever the case, I'm hooked enough after reading the excerpt that I will read the book in it's entirety.
I received this E-ARC excerpt from NetGalley for my honest feedback.
I devoured this excerpt! From the first page I am hooked. I am desperate to now read this book in it’s entirety. I can already tell in the first few chapters that this story gets juicy.
I didn't realize this was only a 14 page excerpt, that being said, the book definitely interested me and I would really like to read the rest.
Really good book. Have never read anything by this author but he is really talented. It was that book you read into the night. Brilliant.
I love Jeff Abbott’s novels. Always well written and plotted. I didn’t realise until too late that this was just an excerpt, but in the few pages I read a lot happened and the reader is pulled into the story immediately.
Kirsten receives a mysterious Phone call saying her husband has been shot, in Austin. At first Kirsten doesn’t believe the caller but as she googles news events she sees that 2 men have been killed in Austin and the hotel in New York where Henry, the husband was meant to be, has no record of a stay. She hurriedly books a flight to Texas and crosses paths with the hitman hired to kill her. Cut to Flora Zhang the wife of the second victim, she knew her husband was being secretive but had no idea what business ventures he was working on.
There the excerpt ended, but I will be reading the entire book when it’s available for sure.
