The book was everything it said to be. There are a lot of triggers, so it’s not a book for everybody. The book deals with noncon, step siblings paired up, cheating, violence, enemies to lovers and group sex.
The story is definitely a taboo read, and some parts were too much for me. I read through it, but if you’re easily triggered by one of the above mentioned themes, I would suggest to refrain from reading it. For those of you who aren’t, it was probably in the top 5 of the smuttiest books I’ve read this year so far.
Loved it!! I am a huge fan of darker romance novels and this book was awesome! This is a new author for me and I will definitely be reading more from her!
I enjoy dark and taboo stories but this story didn’t do it for me. I didn’t care for the characters and the scenes were very choppy which didn’t make for a good flow of the story. The 10 year timejump was very abrupt. And left a lot of things unclear.
Dark and taboo and it is definitely an interesting read. Beware of triggers as this book is not for the faint of heart.
This book had the feel of a bully romance at the start with the strong taboo of stepsiblings thrown in. The MCs had good tension between them, but don't expect a roses and moonlight romance. The mystery surrounding Flynn our main male character will pull you in. Isa is a brat (imho) but a good counterpoint for Flynn's darkness. This book shows us that hate is not the opposite of love - the two are more closely linked than we think.
The book has lots of varied smutty scenes and as noted some can be triggering. I do think that it adds to the feel of the book and is part of the character development but this book will not be for all. There is a time jump in the book that I feel was a bit jarring - perhaps a lead in and out may have worked better. And although the stepsibling taboo was front and centre at the start, the resolution or coming out to friends and family did not seem to elicit the same intensity of negativity as I would have expected.
A great read if this is your type of genre - but not so if you don't read dark with an open mind delinked from reality
A 4.5 stars dark and dirty taboo step brother and sister romance. Warning, there may be triggers for some people. As other reviews state, this isn’t for the faint at heart. This tale is gritty and very sexual. The main character, Flynn, belongs to this secret society. This will be detailed in the story. No spoilers here. Even though Flynn is portrayed as a bad guy, his past is revealed that explains a lot about him. You can’t help but root for Flynn. Isa is his step sister. They grew up together for 10 years and have tormented each other the whole time. One night changes everything for these two, and thus their crazy journey begins. I rooted for these two the whole time. They each have their own issues and becoming adults helped them sort their feelings out. This does have a HEA with a sort of cliffhanger. I will definitely read the next book!
Wow, that was a dark erotic read. It is taboo because of the step-sibling relationship but the scenes featuring the St Jude group features public sex, multiple partners, MMF scenes every possible risque thing you can think of.
This book features our main characters as teenagers and then halfway through the book, they reconnect as adults. There are some dark themes explored. The St Jude group has a criminal side and features blackmail, assault and involves the group tracking down a paedophile ring.
This is not for the faint of heart. It's dark and twisted. I was initially put off by the virgin gang bang but once the story developed I was hooked. I devoured the book in one sitting and I can't wait until the next in the series is out.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm going to start this off by naming the things I liked in this book;
I liked the way Flynn's past was portrayed - it was obvious that he had a dark past, but not what it exactly entailed. We learned more of it going onward in the story, which I liked. I really liked reading from both their perspectives, because if I'd only read this story from Isa's perspective, I would've never, ever liked or understood Flynn. The fact that he really didn't care who he slept with - no matter what gender or form, was a nice touch to me as well. The backstory of some of the other characters was vaguely mentioned as well, and I'm guessing they'll be explained in other books in this series, which should be interesting. I also must say that I love the name Isabella, it's such a pretty name to me!
The things I really struggled with however, is that the sex scenes were non-consenual at best. Every time Flynn and Isabella had sex, she literally told him to stop because she didn't want it, but he kept going. That's really not okay to me, and it seemed like romanticizing rape. I struggled with this a lot, which made it so much less enjoyable to me. Besides that, I didn't realize it would be about a stepbrother-sister relationship, which really isn't my kind of thing.
Overall, this wasn't a book for me. I didn't realize it would be about a stepbrother-sister kind of love (which is probably my own fault!), which really isn't my thing, and besides the heavy sex scenes (which I honestly wouldn't even have minded if they were consensual) being non-consensual, there was not much left of the story for me. I did like it a lot more after the time jump in the story, which was about 60% into the story. If you don't mind any of the things I had some troubles with, you should definitely check it out, because it definitely is an easy read then!
This was definitely an interesting read. It was darker and more taboo than anything I've ever read before.
With that being said, I'll start with the storyline and the pros. This story is about a step-brother and sister, who have a lot of animosity, as well as growing tension between them. She's a rich and smart princess-type and he is a monster, who's a part of a sex cult. There is a lot of dirty and depraved sex in this book, with a tiny bit of romance thrown in towards the end. The tension and scenes between the two MCs is good. Also, the mystery surrounding Flynn, the male MC is interesting.
Now, the cons. There is a massive 10 yr plot hole in the middle of the book, which almost made me DNF. The scenes also jump around right in the middle of chapters, at times there's not much flow. There's also some scenes, which are definitely rape and some scenes in which a child is abused. I understand that it was necessary for character development, but it didn't need to be so descriptive, it could have been alluded to. Most people who read these kinds of books have kids themselves, so its hard to stomach scenes like that.
Finally, on a technical level, there are a lot of grammatical errors that need to be addressed. Names were misspelled and entire pieces of sentences were missing, which made reading a bit difficult at times.
I would have given it 4 stars, if not for the plot holes and jumping in story lines in the middle of the chapter. I would have given 5 stars if the description of the child abuse was left out and only alluded to.
This was a book that pulled me into the lives of Flynn and Isabella with their forbidden desires for each other. A story of how the difference between love and hate is truly a very very thin line. Enemies since their parents' marriage, it seemed hopeless that those two could ever be together, but desires won out. But even those we love, sometimes are better gone. But sometimes out of sight is not out of mind.
In the beginning their story was okay but I quickly became engrossed in their story, one of depravity and mystery of the Order of St. Jude’s secret society which I am hoping we find out more in the next book.
This is definitely not something i would usually read, but i have to say I absolutely loved it! The chemistry between the characters and the few twists and turns throughout the book were brilliant
I am a sucker for the dark and broody Alpha males so I knew I’d love his one! Many twists and turns I wasn’t expecting but the chemistry of the main characters is just crazy! Definitely recommend
A hot and steamy read. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I want to preface this review by saying that I'm writing it only considering this book as an erotica story.
It is HOT. Brutal and spicy, it follows the "romance" between Flynn and Isabella, who are step-siblings. I love the beginning where they hate each other, and try to one-up each other constantly.
Is the romance believable? Not really. Is is still enjoyable to read? Hell, yes.
There are some interesting time jumps and A LOT of cliches thrown in for good measure. It's a great read when you hit a reading slump.
PD: TRIGGER WARNING!
This book is full of them so please keep that in mind before picking it up. I went in blind which in this case is not a good idea.
St Jude Rules Book 1. And, oh yes, does it ever!
This was unadulterated wickedness and I absolutely loved it!
Dark taboo romance…bring it on!
Loved both mains! Flynn, so darn sexy! Isabella, you go girl!
What's next? Don't know, but I'm Waiting! Impatiently!!!
I had no idea what I was getting into when I first started this book. I knew it was going to be filled with angsty, sexy, and dark romance but the level I received was delicious. The dynamic between Isabella and Flynn was something I didn't expect. I loved their tug-and-pull relationship. The cherry on top was their family relations as step-siblings. Albeit not directly related, there was still that chemistry and history. The way the story unraveled had me turning page after page wanting to know what was going to happen next. I finished this book in one sitting if that says anything about the pace of this book.
I enjoyed the quick pace of the book and the unraveled feelings between the two MC. It gave me a Den of Vipers meets Boys of Brayshaw High vibes when reading, which is a great thing because those books made my lady parts warm. My only negative comment is I felt the ending was rushed. I would have liked to see more development from Flynn's point of view before he met Elianna. The backstory there was lacking and I was a little confused on why he had plans with her. I am definitely going to be looking out for Book 2 release!
If you are a fan of limits being pushed, escapism, and dark non-conventional romance; I highly recommend you pick up this book.
I like this book, it’s not for everyone, but still worth it if you can handle it.
This is definitely not a romance. It’s a sexual story between Isabella and her stepbrother Flynn. He is really a mess. He is part of a secret society with really dark tastes and practices fighting against some demons and engaging in others.
Isabella is the sensitive one. The virgin who’s waiting for the perfect guy. Flynn is the badass boy. The chemistry is of the chart. They can´t be together but apparently they can´t be apart either. They indulge in almost any sexual practiced know by human kind.
I enjoy the ride but it was a rough one. I couldn´t put this down, but there were some really unpleasant moments with sensitive issues like rape and murder.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This dark erotica will really get your motor running. It’s full of twists a turns and keeps you turning the pages. Can’t wait to read book 2.
I have always had a devious needbto devour all the step- brother romances I could. Add in the "extra curricular wickedness " and Untethered is born...
I will absolutely need all the tales of St. Jude's . Forbidden, dark, and extra filthy does not slow me down at all. Their mission is a passion play and I want to see it to completion.
Hot, hot, hot... 50 shades has nothing on this book. This book is a forbidden temptation, that is so steamy do not read out in public! I could not put this book down, and stayed up all night just to finish it...it's that good. It is a must read, but honestly this book needs a caution warning...Spicy hot!!!!
I am still processing this book! It had stayed with me since I finished it in one sitting. I do not red bully or "high school" stories but I could not stop reading this, I just had to see where this would go. I was happy when the author decided to not drag the angst and bullying out.
This was so different for me and I was so happy that I stuck with it. I love dark and this definitely falls into that genre. Flynn's backstory is quite heartbreaking and making it easy to see why he is the way he is. I was a little put off by the total acceptance the parents have with all the things they find out. Like it was super common for this information to be revealed and just Okie Dokie.
Isabella was a little more of an issue for me. She professed her hate for her step-brother and I believe she did actually have an issue with him, but the quickness of her giving in was a bit off-putting. I enjoyed her growth throughout the story and she really grew into someone who stood her ground finally. I just wanted her to at least show her spine and stick to it.
The plot twist, I saw coming but still, it was a good one. I am in for the rest of this series.
