The final volume in the adventures of Mort(e), Malefactor picks up where D'Arc left off - Mort(e) living with the beavers, trying to find peace after a lifetime of war, D'Arc exploring the world. D'Arc is swept overboard while pregnant with puppies, trying to survive alone. When her son is stolen by a pack of wolves whose home had been destroyed, D'Arc follows them into another war for control. This book is for fans of the series only, but a great deal of philosophy and references to prophecies from the earlier books. It is satisfying to see D'Arc and Mort(e) find closure, even to the point of revisiting the story of Sheba and Sebastian.
