"What other girl would wade into a freezing pond in December to save a tiny bee?"
"No one sane."
"No one so extraordinary."
Sarah Dessen meets Let It Snow. GASP! I knew I needed this ASAP! So, This is Christmas is the coziest novel that YA readers need this holiday season. Finley (a total Hermione) and Arthur (Is that a British accent? Yes!) are the cutest OTP. So Arthur and Finley are... social satellites... "friends"... awkward...-ish from their prestigious boarding school. Arthur and his Auntie show up in Oklahoma. Christmas, Oklahoma. Finely's hometown. And specifically, at Finley's grandmother's inn. After a miscommunication aka website of deceit...Finley agrees to show Arthur and his Auntie a "proper American Christmas". Will Finley and Arthur upend their life for a holiday romance?

Song: Sleigh Ride by Johnny Mathis
I absolutely adored this book. If you're looking for the perfect Christmas romance, this is it! Look no farther. It was so very fun and cute, but also managed to pull some important topics into it. The amount of hilarity included didn't cheapen the story, the way it can in some books. I loved the author's writing style. I absolutely NEED more books from her. I can already tell this is gonna be a hit. I so look forward to whatever else she has up her sleeve!! So overall, if you're looking for an adorable Christmas love story with lots of fun and a great storyline, pick this up immediately.
I'd gone into So, This is Christmas with a lot of excitement — the premise seemed cute, and I love holiday season. But there was something about it that just didn't quite sit right with me; calling Steve the "homeless elf" — and a lot of classist comments, some throwaway lines that felt ableist, etc. that really took away from my enjoyment of the novel. I also couldn't really connect to Finley, or the storyline.
This book was super sweet and I highly recommend for fans of the holidays! The book follows a teenager by the name of Finley Brown who lives in a small town named “Christmas” in Oklahoma. When she comes back for the holidays after going to school in a boarding school, she comes to learn that everything has changed. When Arthur and his Aunt come to visit Christmas Oklahoma, Finley’s false advertising about the town comes to bite her back. So, she must make Arthur’s Christmas fun. This book was so cute and is such a good read for the winter. The characters are so fun, the plots really cute. And, the most important part, the vibes are immaculate. To make this even better…THERES ROMANCE! If you like Christmassy-hallmark vibe books then definitely give this a try.
This book is as cute as a gingerbread house.
When Finley returns home for Christmas unexpectedly to her hometown of Christmas, OK, she finds two unpleasant surprises - her parents have separated and her best friend is dating her ex-boyfriend.
The town of Christmas, OK, has seen better days. After someone embezzled all the money, their Christmas-themed attractions have fallen into disrepair. But when Finley went off to an exclusive boarding school, she jazzed up the town website to make it look better than it was to help her conquer her own insecurities. But that has consequences she never foresaw.
When her British classmate, Arthur, and his aunt show up at her family’s inn over Christmas break expecting a perfect American Christmas, Finley feels bad. Also, she needs a distraction from her personal woes. She plans an array of Christmas activities for them, discovering along the way that Arthur’s maybe not as bad as she thought.
As a native Okie, I love that the book is set here. The author did a great job of capturing small town Oklahoma vibes. With the grandma starting the inn as a young single mother to provide for her son - Finley’s dad - I got definite Gilmore Girls vibes.
This is the perfect Christmas read. It’s got a cute concept, great characters, romantic vibes and tons of Christmassy cheer. From a sleigh ride gone wrong to burning cookies, this book is wholesomely adorable. You can tell the author has a background in Hallmark Christmas specials.
Thank you to Penguin Teen and NetGalley for the advance review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
