This series is seriously astonishing!
It has the perfect level of spook and thrills all mixed together with a great gang of teens.
I found this just as enjoyable as the first book and it left me eager to read more.
I’ll be counting the days until book three comes out.
Brackenbeast picks up the story of Pip, Otto, and Ella just months after they successfully manage to evade the January Society and its evil leader, Mr. January. They are trying their best to pretend their lives are back to normal but are secretly trying to figure out how to break the magical curse that has been placed on the town of Eden Eld. The appearance of giant muck monsters who are swallowing up their neighbors leads them to Mrs. Prosper, the sinister sister of Mr. January. Her multilevel marketing company Six Seed seems harmless on the surface, but the company and its products may not be what they seem. Pip, Ella, and Otto use Thirteen Tales of the Gray, their book of fairy tales and the help of a mysterious figure who seems to spring to life right from the book’s pages, to devise a plan to save the town. A dark tale with twists and turns and well-executed worldbuilding, this one will engage fantasy fans, especially those who have read the previous book in the series, Thirteens.
