Esmeralda Sambrano-Peña is not the only one surprised when her estranged father, Patricio Sambrano, names her as CEO of his company, Sambrano Studios, when he passes away. Esmeralda’s ex Rodrigo Almanzar is dealing with being overlooked for the position. Rodrigo was Patricio’s long-term protégé, and sacrificed everything for the company, including his love of Esmeralda.

To say Esmeralda and Rodrigo had a bad break up ten years ago is an understatement. Now they are competing for the company. On the surface, Rodrigo chose his mentor over her and broke her heart. Despite this, Esmeralda can’t fight the attraction. As they spend more time working together, they discover the passion is still there. Rodrigo realizes that Esmeralda was his jewel and he never should have let her go, but revealing the secrets from the past may be too little too late.

The story is rounded out by supporting characters who are there for Esmeralda and Rodrigo at the right time. The theme of One Week to Claim It All is second chance love and Ms. Herrera pulls it off. I received an advance copy from Netgalley.

One Week to Claim It All will connect to everyone who grew up watching telenovelas, who love witty flirting, and loves steamy romances. Exes Esmeralda and Rodrigo have not seen each other for ten years and are now competing for the CEO position at a Latinx television network. While competing, we learn about their past, secrets, and have a huge dose of family drama.

The characters are Dominican and live in NYC, and I left feeling that the characters truly embodied those identities. From the characters names, to the over involved moms and tias, to not being able to "get away" from your mom at night (even though you're an adult).

I love witty flirting and sarcasm, and Adriana delivers both with this book!

Adriana Herrera not only delivers a steamy romance, but also points out the importance of inclusion- especially in the representation of the Latinx community.

Esme is competing with ex-lover Rodrigo to head her late father's studio. She's got one week to prepare a presentation that will wow the board. With the other stockholders scheming against her, is there anyone she can trust?

Adriana Herrera is an amazing storyteller. I love how she weaves the tangled pasts of the characters together for a story full of intrigue, passion, and deep emotion. Rodrigo and Esme are perfect together, and I love their vision for the studio. I wish that could be a real thing. Another great multicultural romance from Harlequin Desire!

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Soapy, sexy, category goodness.

This book moves fast and has a lot of heat. You've got second-chance, rival-to-lovers, with a dash of Cinderella. When Esmerelda's father died, he left the CEO position of his media empire to her, even though he'd barely acknowledged her, the daughter he'd had out of wedlock. Esmeralda's ex, and her father's protégé, had been in the position before she steps up to claim it all.

I loved nearly everything about it - the only thing that pinged my radar was Esmerelda's evil stepmother, who was a bit of a caricature. But I'll allow it, considering that there's so much soap opera dna running through this and caricatures come with the territory.

Fun, fast, and steamy.

I'm voluntarily leaving this review in exchange for an ARC copy.

𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮 𝘐𝘵 𝘈𝘭𝘭 by Adriana Herrera is out today, and it was such a quick read, I gobbled it right up! ⁣

You know going in it’s a romance with more of a compressed timeframe and it definitely moves fast, but Herrera's writing is engaging as always. (Also, the characters were together years ago, which helps because they already know each other). I am blown away every time with how well Hererra writes her characters and how she makes you want to root for them the whole time! ⁣

There was some miscommunication/not telling each other everything between the hero & the heroine which is a trope that frustrates me every time, but overall this was a fun read. I will forever read anything Adriana Herrera writes!

A quick read that's steamy and also emotional. Adriana Herrera knows how to write good love stories and I appreciated how she was able to incorporate family values in this story about broken ties and empowering yourself. I really enjoyed Esme and her determination, the relationship between her and Rodrigo, and just how strong the story progressed. There wasn't a dull point at all. Amazing work as usual by Adriana Herrera.

One Week to Claim It All is the first book in the Sambrano Studios series by Adriana Herrera. A story that has a great twist with the daughter inheriting a big chunk of her father’s company, much to the chagrin of the ex who wants the job of President/CEO. A well-written story that the author delivers with several twists and ugly family issues to deal with. One Week to Claim It All is a fun romantic read.

Esmeralda finds out after her father dies that he has left her the CEO position in his television empire. The only thing is is he never recognized her as his daughter because she wasn't from the woman he married. Esmeralda has worked hard in college and after to prove to her father and herself she had what it takes to make it in the media industry without his help.

Now she has a discussion to make of whether she wants to ignore the will or take her spot as CEO of her fathers company. She isn't really sure why he decided to give it to her instead of one of kids from his wife. She knows that her fathers protégé, Rodrigo, was wanting the position. Because he wanted it was a little bit of the reason why she decided to accept it, because Rodrigo was her ex-boyfriend and she was still mad at him because of how he broke up with her and wants a bit of revenge.

Taking over as CEO isn't as easy as she hoped it would be because the board of directors have a stipulation before they let her take over. She has to prove that she has what it's takes to be CEO of a Sambrano Studios and she has one week to come up with a suitable plan moving forward. If she can't then they will turn it over to Rodrigo.

She doesn't have to just compete against Rodrigo, but deal with her fathers wife who is wholeheartedly against having her husband's illegitimate child take away from what belongs to her and her two kids. To make matters worse if she wants to know anything about the company she has to go through Rodrigo. So of course this means they will be spending a lot of time together.

Spending time together rekindles all the sparks from before but can Esmeralda trust Rodrigo after what he done in the past? Rodrigo has never quit loving Esmeralda and she doesn't know what the real reason for the break up was and he doesn't want her to know.

To be honest I wasn't sure if I would care for an office romance. I am not huge fan of contemporary romances unless they are suspense, intrigue or involve cowboys. :) I really enjoyed this story though so maybe I like contemporary more than I think...lol.

I really liked both Esmeralda and Rodrigo. They had great chemistry. Esmeralda was a spitfire who wasn't going to back down once she decided on taking the job and Rodrigo was just as determined. It made for some great steamy moments and fun banter. I loved how sometimes they forgot that they were suppose to be fighting each other for a job and then would remember and get mad at each other again.

I think if you like romances then you will enjoy this one.

Competing for their dream job and each other’s heart

Esmeralda and Rodrigo were young lovers torn apart by secrets and lies; now they are thrown together to compete for their dream job.

I really appreciated the representation of family, extended family, and made family as well as the discussions about how important it is to see and celebrate the full range of the Latinx diaspora. But of course the heart of the story is Esmeralda and Rodrigo figuring out how to fit back together, how to forgive, and how to celebrate their love for one another while not giving up their individual goals, which was beautifully done! And much like the telenovelas mentioned in the story, there is a truly fabulous villainess and an unexpected heroine!

I can’t wait for more from the Sambrano Studios series!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

A super sexy workplace romance! Loved this one. A quick read and fell in love with this setting and excited there will be more to this series!

At the very last possible moment, Esmeralda Sambrano-Pena accepts the top position in her father's media empire. However, not everyone is sure about her assuming the CEO position, particularly Rodrigo Almanzar. He trained under her father and feels it is time he gets to run the company himself. Therefore, the competition begins and each is determined to end up on top. But Rodrigo and Esmeralda have a past and their attraction is interfering with their plans.
First off, once again, I am blown away by a Harlequin cover. It is so beautiful. Second, Adriana Herrera writes a hot scene. The chemistry between them is hot and intense and you get why they can't keep their hands off each other.
The enemies to lovers and rekindled romance tropes are in effect and I think readers will enjoy the first book in a new series. All I can say I look forward to reading.
Thank you #harlequin

I adore Adriana Herrera - Here To Stay was one of my favorite books last year and I couldn't wait to get my hands on One Week to Claim It All. If you love soapy romance novels with strong Latinas and handsome Latinos then JUMP ON THIS.

Esmeralda Sambrano-Peña is set to inherit her estranged fathers media empire but standing in her way is ex-flame Rodrigo Almanzar who ghosted her after a passionate affair in their early 20s. Esmeralda wants to prove herself, her family, and the Sambrano Board that she is able to take on the CEO job. But will she lose the chance to find love again?

Esme is magnificent and a classic Adriana lead woman: strong, curvy, smart, vulnerable. I loved her inner monologues, her struggle to believe in herself when faced with criticism of those against her. Rodrigo is PERFECTION. That strong type who was forced to be so strong to save his family. The STEAM flew off the pages and their relationship felt really true. Some of the best parts, and my favorite parts of AH books, is the Latinx representation. Adriana's love of Dominican culture, Washington Heights, and food really is celebrated in all her of books and One Week is no different. There's a hilarious line about "Bougie Dominicans" that made me laugh out loud!

This is a perfect second chance romance/enemies to lovers and I highly recommend it.

The office romance is one of my favorite troupes to read. I am not sure why but I just love them! This one has a great twist with the daughter inheriting a big chunk of her father’s company much to the chagrin of the ex who wants the job of President/CEO.

The author delivers a story with several twists and ugly family issues to deal with. Not to mention the guy she has loved forever but hates today! Love/hate relationships are tough to write and this author takes it on with flair!

The passion and tension runs deep and Herrera added plenty of fire to spice up the story. Low on the angst meter as you could tell where the story was going, but refreshing, and slightly crazy characters keeps the story flowing and fun. Herrera wrote her heart out on this one!

Fabulous choice for a delightful love story with a great Happily Ever After! Love it!

One Week to Claim It All covers a variety of romance tropes. It's a combination of second chance, enemies to lovers or better yet, friends to enemies to lovers, workplace, forced proximity; I feel like I'm leaving something out, but it's safe to say that this one has a mixed bag of tropes, and Adriana Herrera blends them with skill. The characters are interesting and likable. Well, likable for the most part. It's easy to like Esmeralda, but Rodrigo took some time. He does have some personal growth, so he grew on me as the story progressed, and the more he grew on me, the more I rooted for this couple's HEA. This one is a pretty quick read, and it's an entertaining story, so it was great for whiling away a rainy afternoon.

4⭐
NC-17 because Adriana Herrera likes it 🌶️🔥

If you're still starry eyed from the In the Heights movie or you miss having new episodes of Jane the Virgin, this book is definitely for you. Adriana Herrera's books focus on telling the story of Latinx people and giving them happy endings--this book does not disappoint!!

After being rejected by her father all her life, Esmeralda has one week to claim her right as the CEO of his successful film studio... The catch? She has to work with her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart 10 years earlier to succeed. Can you imagine if you had the most important job interview of your life and your ex-boyfriend was part of the hiring panel? Oof, no thanks, I'd try to go find a different film studio to run. 😉

This book is for the people who love the glamorous life of the rich and famous--and their drama! From faked paternity tests to shady business dealings, this book has the perfect makings of a telenovela. I think my biggest complaint with this book was the development of the second chance romance meets enemies to lovers. Esme and Rodrigo were mad at each other for about two minutes before they started making eyes at each other. I was looking for more character and relationship development across the book's arc. But I think this will he easier in a sequel where we've already met some of the characters!

If you love a glamorous and drama-laden book with gorgeous Latinx characters (who doesn't??), then you definitely need to go grab this book!!

Esmerelda is the illegitimate daughter of a Latinx television empire. The daughter he ignored despite paying for her upkeep and education. And she's worked hard to prove she can make it on her own in the television industry. Now he's passed away and she's about to inherit his company as CEO. The catch? She must compete with the ex-boyfriend who betrayed her and broke her heart.

This was everything I hoped it would be and I can't wait for the next installment in the series! One Week to Claim It All is a romance in the style of a telenovela with an ambitious, curvy heroine clashing with the ex who broke her heart. It's dramatic and sexy but with heart. And feminist sensibilities- seriously can we get more romances where the fantasy is about a true partnership between successful people who are into each other? I love it. Plus this is a book that unabashedly celebrates Latinx language, culture, and food. (omg the food! I am dying to track down the things described). Highly recommend this one. I received an advance copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

This was a quick and sexy second chance and childhood friends to enemies to lovers romance. The media empire workplace setting was refreshing and it went perfectly with the forced proximity trope. I loved how strong and determined Esmeralda was and how supportive her mother and tias were. Rodrigo and Esmeralda had great chemistry and I about melted every time he called her "joya". The reason for their separation didn't make the most sense to me, but I was still rooting for these two to find their way back to each other. A fun and entertaining read!

CW: parental abandonment/strained relationship with father, death of parent, mentions of gambling addiction/debts

*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Solid Short Scintillating Summer Story. This is one of those great vacation reads because of its brevity- at around 150 pages, you're not committing to too much, so you can enjoy whatever you're doing on vacation itself and still have a solid escape during downtimes. As to actual trope classification, some might call it enemies to lovers - the couple does in fact start out this book in that form - but others might classify it as second chance - they start out as enemies because of a failed romance years before the events of this tale. Either way, solid mashup of boardroom / entertainment drama as our leads clash over who will take over a multimedia powerhouse, and with our leading lady just as capable as our leading man of taking on any challenge presented. Also features a wider array of Spanish speaking ethnicities and nations than is usually presented in US media, so there is that as well. :D Very much recommended.

This is my very first book by A. Herrera and I loved it. One Week to Claim It All is a fast paced, second chance romance that is steamy from the word go. Esme and Rodrigo have a love that was never resolved and a painful past for both of them but when they get together, sparks fly and work gets done. I will definitely have my eye out for more by this author and in this series!
