Fun with a dangerous undertone
Charlotte and her friends witnessed a mob hit and are now being threatened so they are all now under the protection of a private security team. Easton is tasked with protecting Charlotte and their cover is as newly weds at a hotel and spa in Florida
I liked Charlotte, she is friendly and kind, she makes friends easily and can quickly get information from people. She is a fun character who knows what she wants but also is scared about what is happening to herself and her friends making her seem more real
Easton is a fabulous character, he struggles with the assignment as Charlotte isn’t like anyone he had ever had to protect and he starts to develop feelings towards her. He is determined to protect her, even if that means scaring her to make her understand the seriousness of the situation and he hates the thought of her not being safe
There is a lot of drama and danger in this book and it kept me hooked and reading, not everyone’s be who they seem and danger may be closer to the surface than you realise. There was a brilliant twist near the end which I didn’t expect, although on reflection maybe I should have, which will make this a book that I loved
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy stories full of drama, danger and romance in an amazing setting with some fabulous characters

Here in this story, opens up with a mob murder or hit, and Charlotte and her two best friends are witnesses to it. Now needing protection, she hires a security agency and the team decides it would be best if she and Easton the former Seal leave and go to Florida and pretend to be a couple. Which sounds good but she at times is attracted to him but also frightened by his size and just what he is capable of doing. Which gets her to think he is more dangerous than the men who are looking for her. Instead of this being a calming effect it terrifies her and this only adds to the story. This is a wonderful story full of action and arguing between the lead characters getting past their fears, a very good book.

This story honestly gave me so much more than I expected, but it still fell a little short. I love the whole protective male/female that needs protected trope. And I really love how bratty the MC gets. Storyline was mostly great, I just feel that it could have been more.

This was kind of a miss for me. I usually like these storylines, but I wasn't impressed with Easton as a bodyguard nor Charlotte as the protected.

The suspense part of this book wasn't quite suspenseful enough either as I figured out who at the hotel was after Charlotte really fast.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This is a cute and funny adventure about three friends that happen to witness a mob hit. Each goes into hiding with a protector from Aegis. This is the story of Charlotte and Easton. He has his hands full trying to protect her as she continues to break the rules. Always a good read from Leslie North and this story does not disappoint :) Looking forward to book 3!!!

A fast paced book that kept the growing relationship moving as well as the background story linked to being protected from the mob.
Three friends witness a mob hit and they are each taken under the protection of a sexy ex service man. We follow Charlotte who is taken off by Easton and their cover story is that they are on their honeymoon in a beautiful hotel. They are given the honeymoon suite - obviously - and have to deal with their growing feelings for each other against the back drop of Easton needing to be alert to protect the woman he thinks he is falling in love with. Although, you should never ever fall for the 'client'.

Great second book in the series. Loved the action and the romance. These two fall for each other after spending time in paradise. Seeming on vacation but on the look out for the bad guys and having to stay in closes quarters is what does these two in. Loved the bit of humor in this one.

Looking forward to book 3!

This is my first read by Leslie North and it was a decent read for me. I went in blind having not read the first book in this series. I did manage to get into the story with not much problem. Eventhough I could follow the story just fine, I wasn't totally into it. Perhaps I'm not used to Leslie North's writing style, still I didn't DNF so that's something, I guess?

Thanks NetGalley for this copy. The views above are all of my own.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. You may have a better feel for the story if you read them in order but this is understandable without reading the first. I loved Charlotte-she is a people person, and is having a hard time hiding out. Easton is a big Grump! LOL But somehow they click, and for the rest you will need to read the book. It does have romance and some suspense. 3.5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. Let me start by saying that I’m now so excited to read the final book in this series because the first two have left me dying to find out how it will all turn out!
Easton and Charlotte gave me everything I love best about a fake relationship story: bringing all the drama, and suspense. I was already invested in the previous book, so it didn’t take much for this story to pull me in and hold me captive. And now I really, really want to know how they resolve the situation. Roll on book 3 is all I can say ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read!

I've received this book for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley

Sexy and sweet and all the right areas definitely a quick read but I really enjoyed this one and the development between the two main characters.

A nice romance between victim and bodyguard. The security team is protecting 3 witnesses. Each one goes to a different place. The main story is about one of the gals and her bodyguard. I liked the story. It is nice location, interesting characters and a nice twist for the end. It was a nice escape read.

This is book 2 in a 3 part series by Leslie North. Can be read as a stand alone. Charlotte, Holly and Nicole are 3 best friends who end up witnessing a mob murder. They hire Aegis Security to protect them. This is Charlotte (aka Emily) story. Protecting Charlotte is Eaton who is a former Navy Seal. He takes her to Florida where they pose as honeymooners Charlotte is attracted to Eaton but feels she is not good enough for him. She had rough childhood and move around a lot due to her mother's changing relationships. She even lived in a tent. Eaton is attracted to Charlotte also and is becoming more and more protective of her. Great love story. Liked how they both had issues to work thru in the relationship. Loved the friendship between the three girls and three guys. Highly recommend. I read in one sitting.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

I've only recently discovered Leslie North's writing and I am very impressed with everything I've read so far. At the start of Protecting His Fake Wife, Charlotte and her friends witness a crime and are forced to go into hiding, with help from a seriously sexy security team.
Charlotte is paired up with Easton, who's protective nature towards Charlotte goes well beyond the line of duty. Their story features so many of my favourite tropes; bodyguard, forced proximity, fake marriage and only one bed (even if the latter if tragically under used - I don't think they even share the bed once!)
I did really enjoy Protecting His Fake Wife. It's a fast paced, thrilling story filled with romance and passion. My only true criticism would be with the identity of the "secret" hitman. It was pretty obvious from the very first introduction who would end up being the "baddie" and seriously, our ex-Navy Seal hero should have been ashamed that he didn't work it out sooner.
The brief glimpses at the other two friends and their situations left me very interested in finding out how their stories turn out, so I'll definitely be reading the other books in the series.

Charlotte and her friends Holly and Nicole witnessed a murder and now their lives are in danger. Charlotte has to go into hiding at a honeymoon resort with Easton, a gruff yet handsome security expert and an ex Seal. He is focused on keeping her safe to the extent that he appears rude and threatening to other resort visitors. After some romantic kayaking time there is a touch of danger and they're on the run again. They both admit their attraction but Charlotte has had an unstable childhood and now she's wondering whether she can handle Easton's dangerous career in the long term.

The villain was rather obvious but I enjoyed this romantic suspense a lot nevertheless.

There are some spoilers for Nicole's book so if you're planning to read the entire series it's best to do it in order I think. I haven't read the first book but I know who the baddie is it now.

I got an ARC from Netgalley and this is a voluntary review.

I would post on Goodreads but I can't find this book in there.

Protecting His Fake Wife is book 2 in Leslie North's Aegis Security Series. I have not read the first book and although you can tell there are overlapping plot points I still had no issue following along. I was easily able to "fill in" what I missed. I would recommend reading these books in order but they could be enjoyed solo. You get the main point from the prologue included at the beginning.

This story focuses on Charlotte and her protector (and fake husband) Easton. These two do not share a past, there is no history and although there is some initial attraction they aren't magically falling into bed right away. Watson being your typical aloha protecting is a big gruff around the edges and hyper-focused on his job. Charlotte is a people person so hiding out and keeping her head down isn't very natural for her. As you can imagine that causes some tension.

I'm not going to give anything away but readers will find this book has action both inside the bedroom and outside it. I didn't find their relationship overpowering the other storyline which was nice.

I wasn't sure if readers were supposed to be surprised by the reveal or just dumbfounded that Easton never clued in until it was staring at him in the face. It seemed obvious, at least to me.

I would like to that NetGalley, the publisher and Leslie North for providing me with a free copy of this story. I am leaving a voluntary honest review.

3+ stars

If you can get past the cheesy title, Protecting His Fake Wife is a fast and entertaining read. It's the second in a three-book series with an interconnected plot. I didn't read book 1, but with the help of a prologue, the story worked fine as a standalone.

After witnessing a mob hit, Charlotte goes on the run, protected by an ex-Navy Seal-turned-security guy, Easton. They go to a Florida resort, posing as newlyweds. I guess the idea was to stay hidden until the mob thing resolved, but of course trouble tracks them down. As all this is happening, Charlotte and Easton find time to fall for each other.

To be honest, Easton is a rather crappy bodyguard. He has trouble maintaining their cover and he loses Charlotte more than once. As things come to a head, he makes more than one rather stupid decision. I'm not sure if the author intended Easton to come off that way, though. He redeems himself by the epilogue though.

Otherwise, the storyline is decent. I felt like a few things were rushed and a few characters were oddly dropped, but the story was interesting enough to be worth the two-hour investment.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Really satisfying short read. Main characters share good chemistry and dialogue. Nice, happy ending.

I received an advanced reader's copy of Protecting His Fake Wife (Aegis Security Book Two) by Leslie North from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I felt this was a solid novel and I found it to be extremely well written. The plot was engaging and moved swiftly, plus was evenly paced. I appreciated how nicely crafted the characters were, but do wish there had been more development of their histories.

This novel was a little predictable, but still a quick, fun read.

This is the first time I've read anything by Leslie North, so for me, I was going in blind. However, I had high expectations, because I love a fake marriage trope! Looking forward to this gimmick I dug in with zeal.

Our story is the second of three books. Each book interconnects, but each one can be read as a stand alone novel. Personally, I have no desire to read the first one, because I have a hard time with second chance novels. However, as mentioned previously, the "fake lovers" story was right up my alley. We begin this story in the midst of action as Charlotte (after witnessing a mob killing), goes undercover as a newly wed bride to her personal protector, Easton. As you can imagine, their fake relationship starts to feel real, real fast.

Now, I will begin this review with some of the things I loved. I loved our bubbly heroine Charlotte with the "quite strength". I feel like the inner warmth and the quite strength are undervalued in lead heroines. Additionally, I loved her untraditional physical attributes (red cat eye glasses, and white blonde hair?..... adorable). I loved Easton, and that he existed as the gruff grumpy foil to her gentle spirit. I love that Easton offered up genuine apologies and admitted when he was wrong. The character descriptors were really a shining star for me in this novel. Plus, our story ended with a proposal. LOVE.

However, there were pieces of this story that were disjointed... For example, some of the plot flow was stinted, and some of the driving action was odd.... certain interactions amongst characters made some things feel forced. While I loved pieces of Easton and Charlotte together (their opposites attract dynamic), other parts seemed inorganic.

All in all, this was a straight forward "opposites attract, fake romance" novel, and I enjoyed it.

I received a free Netgalley ARC copy of this book for an honest review. Thank you again Netgalley and Leslie North for this opportunity.
