My new toaster oven did not come with an air frying option but after reading this cookbook, I think I might need one. Apparently, just about everything you cook in an oven you can cook in an air fryer oven. Seriously, some of the recipes are for things I would have never thought to make let alone use an air fryer to do it: Strawberry Pastry, Pork Egg Rolls, Fried Mash Potato Balls and Yeast Rolls! I agree with another reviewer that the "Pantry Staples" section is not necessary and would prefer more details on which type of pan/tray to use. It did seem like almost every recipe used a 6" round cake pan which seemed both odd and really small for most recipes. I would have loved to see more photos and even though everyone buying a new cookbook has this complaint most do not including this one. So I took a star away for lack of photos.
As someone who just received an air fryer a few months ago, I found this book to be one of my favorites. It has a great variety of recipes and ones that I didn't even know you could make in an air fryer! (Hello, cinnamon buns).
Great for beginners and anyone else looking for an all round cookbook for their air fryer delights!

“I Love My Airfryer” 5-Ingredient Recipe Book by Robin Fields sounded like a perfect read for me as I’ve just acquired my first such miracle kitchen appliance, and I really do love it. Move over Instant Pot (well, for summer at least).
I found the book really helpful to get a sense of what I could use my air fryer to make, and the techniques and temperatures that will cause the greatest success. I’ve already made four of the recipes and they have all been great.
Numerous of the recipes require a number more than five ingredients, and to me, the “five or less” ingredients isn’t really the hook. The recipes, ingredients, and instructions are accessible, family-friendly, and a great alternative to take out. For our family, this is a cookbook that contains a high percentage of recipes we would try and probably enjoy.
A really handy “US/Metric Conversion” chart is included in the final pages. In addition to temperature conversions to Celsius (which my appliance uses and cannot be changed), it includes volume and weight conversions, and baking pan sizes. Very handy!

I’ve never been big on frying foods, so I bought an air fryer a few year sago, but never really got into using it. It’s not that it doesn’t work, and it’s not that I don’t like the way the food turns out. it’s mostly because I know how to cook so well with a conventional oven that I just didn’t want to learn a new way to cook, maybe. So I saw this book and figured why not read it? I’m glad I did.
I was able to get my head around making more than just potato chips and French fries in the big thing that sits on my counter taking up prime space. Now I have a slew of recipes I can’t wait to try in my air fryer. From Scotch Eggs to cakes, I’m going to be a busy gal and I think that using the air fryer is going to be the best thing I have done this year, aside from getting my vaccinations.
What an awesome cookbook! This is a must have I think for a busy family or as a housewarming gift or for any new Air Fryer owner. I can’t wait to make many of these recipes. I would definitely buy this for myself or as a gift.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc I received I exchange for my honest review.
I wish there were a lot more pictures. You eat with your eyes before your mouth. The recipes were easy to follow and were good. Simple enough that my kids could make anything that sounded good to them. We love using our air fryer. In the 100 degree heat it isn't as hot to use as my oven.

Two weeks after she unwrapped her new air fryer my granddaughter told me how exciting it was to use, and how often she had cooked in it. I looked at mine, acquired several months before, and although I was impressed with it, barely used in comparison with my familiar appliances. Requesting “I Love My Air Fryer” from NetGalley seemed a logical conclusion. Would the cookbook serve both purposes? Those of the enthusiastic young cook and the ambitious but hesitant older cook moving from the familiarity of the microwave and small oven in her double oven just installed? My request was successful, and my review will include observations from my granddaughter about using an air fryer in general.
The book is written for an American audience, with its references to ‘all-purpose flour’, items familiar to Americans, cooks who experiment with a range of cuisines, and those of us who have been fortunate to travel to America pre-Covid, and excitingly new for those who are not in those categories. There is a useful US/Metric conversion chart and an Index. Translation for some of the terms (all-purpose flour, pie crust, for example) would have been useful. On the other hand, the list of calories, fats, protein, sodium, and fibre in each recipe is a wonderful addition.
The writer values the reduced cooking time offered by the air fryer, crispiness without too much oil and fat, and this appliances’ ability to replace other appliances. I cannot relate to the last, realising that my ‘go to’ appliances remain my microwave and the small oven of my double oven. I even tend to use the stand alone grill as a first option. However, this book does offer people less dedicated to the familiar an exciting range of ways in which to use this relatively new appliance.
There is an excellent introduction to the air fryer, setting out its benefits, uses, methods and the accessories needed. For example, I was interested in the use of parchment paper outlined – I had thought this was not a possibility until reading Robin Field’s instructions. A short list of pantry essentials provides a clue to the types of ingredients that will be used throughout the book. Also valuable is the advice on alternatives for various recipes.
There are 175 recipes featured, categorised by Breakfast, Appetisers and Snacks, Side Dishes, Chicken Main Dishes, Beef and Pork Main Dishes, Fish and Seafood Main Dishes, Vegetarian Main Dishes, and Desserts.
Beginning with the first section, a multitude of recipes can be baked in the air fryer – muffins, potatoes, cinnamon rolls frittata…I was interested in so many but must admit that my go to small oven or microwave would be my choice for most. The pastry recipe and cooking clues were very successful – I was delighted to find no soggy bottoms.
There is a predominance of what I think of as American recipes, certainly worth trying, but time is also given to cooking chicken breasts as the basis for other recipes. I do not eat red meat, so did not try those recipes, as delicious as they will look to meat eaters. The vegetarian recipes cover a good variety, with burgers, burrito fillings, roast vegetables, ravioli, and fritters amongst them. A method of cooking tofu is always welcome, and this is included. My granddaughter has welcomed this one and was successful in producing a flavoursome meal.
The desserts section is extensive, and, although I again might revert to the oven, I can see the value of cooking items such as baked apples, apple fritters and pies from these recipes in the air fryer.
Although I would not be able to take the advice to replace my familiar appliances with the air fryer for every occasion, thus limiting my use of this book, I found enough to decide that Robin Field’s book could be an addition to my range of cookery options. My granddaughter, on the other hand, has used her air fryer with a larger range of recipes, suggesting that this book would be useful to a new cook, to whom the air fryer is a welcome alternative to other appliances.
You can’t find more comfort food that the recipes in The "I Love My Air Fryer" 5-Ingredient Recipe Book. Many are variations on what my midwestern grandma taught me to cook when I was young.
While the calories may have slightly gone down, due to the air fryer, most of the recipes are not diet food by anyone’s definition. Plus, the use of convenience foods, like store-bought BBQ sauce, to lower the ingredient count means the sodium here is sky high. However, I commend the author and publisher for publishing nutritional information for each recipe.
There are only a few negatives to this cookbook. There are no allergen warnings or substitutions for common allergens. There are few photos too (though that may be less of an issue since most foods will be familiar, at least to American readers). I don’t need to see a photo of BBQ ribs, meatloaf, or hot dogs.
I was gifted an air fryer over three years ago for Christmas. It is still sitting in its box, unopened. I think the quick and easy (not to mention inexpensive) recipes included here might just get me to crack it open. 4 stars for The "I Love My Air Fryer" 5-Ingredient Recipe Book.
Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
The book is quite interesting but you might need a large Air Fryer or an oven that can offer it as an option if you want to be able to do all the recipes. There are other recipes that can be done in a smaller air fryer and they too look delicious. It even has directions to do a hard-boiled egg, which I did not know could be done in an air fryer. The recipes have the nutritional info which I truly appreciate. It has cream cheese wontons, onion rings, cinnamon rolls, mozzarella sticks, apple chips, garlic knots, roasted broccoli, and many more recipes I want to try. It has main dishes recipes with chicken, fish, pork and vegetarian, plus the breakfast, snacks, and desserts. In conclusion, I think this book has great recipes and is a great addition for someone who wants to have food with fried texture without the oil.
I enjoyed reading this and will definitely be making some of these when I get my air fryer. I also like that most of these recipes are recipes everyone already enjoys, they just converted them to air fryer times and instructions. I really appreciate that because it is hard to guess how to convert a regular recipe to an air fryer or instapot.
I loved the recipes in this book! I use my air fryer in a daily basis and I’m always looking for new things to try! Very impressed with the photos in this book and the new recipes offered!
I thought this is a good book for beginners. It has a wide range of recipes that use common ingredients. And they seem pretty easy. I haven’t tried them out yet. But plan on doing so soon. Some of the recipes were on the high side for calories, that would be my only negative about this book.
I was given an online ARC and I had to have this in print.
I am one of many who love their air fryer! I use it almost daily and the recipes that are covered in this cookbook are things I have never even thought of doing. Can't wait for it to arrive!
I really DO love my airfryer, but after reading this cookbook, I realized I definitely have been under-utilizing it. It gets nearly daily use, warming up pizza and roasting all kinds of vegetables, but I’ve never thought of using it for many of these kinds of recipes… fresh baked bagels and scones, quiches, scotch eggs, crab rangoons! There are so many recipes I can’t wait to try, I gave up on bookmarking all the interesting ones - I’m just going to cook my way through the book. The cookbook starts out with a general introduction to airfryers. Every recipe has only five main ingredients, which keeps everything simple and pretty fast to assemble. My only complaint is that I wish there was a photograph of each finished dish accompanying every recipe. Even so, this one has definitely earned a place on my cookbook shelf.
I am very grateful to NetGalley and AdamsMedia for the opportunity to read and review I Love My Air Fryer!
Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster/Adams Media for allowing me to review this advance copy.
This is everything I've been looking for in an air fryer cookbook. It's not that I mind some of the recipes out there that are difficult, or that test my memory of the French language with their more out of the ordinary ingredients/techniques. But these days I'm looking for simple and The "I Love My Air Fryer" 5-Ingredient Recipe Book is exactly that. Unpretentious, clear, and concise, Robin Fields offers up nearly 200 recipes across all categories (breakfast, appetizers and snacks, main dishes for chicken, beef, pork, fish/seafood, and vegetarian, and desserts) that I could definitely see my family eating (I sympathize with all the mamas of picky eaters out there!).
I can't wait to try every single one of these meals (oh the pretzel chicken tenders and the crustless chocolate cheesecake!) and to get a physical copy to add to the kitchen. I definitely recommend this to anyone in charge of prepping the family meals.
Looks good when flipping through but I didn't get a chance to try these recipes yet. I have an all in one air fryer (includes pressure cooker) so I'm not sure which of these recipes would work in a smaller space. Additionally I don't have many of the accessories mentioned. That said it looks good I just didn't test the recipes.
Not your typical cookbook. I love the 5 ingredient recipes but don’t think that means these are going to be oversimplified recipes. This book really pushes what you can do with your air fryer (salmon, lasagna & even chocolate chip cookies!) without going kitschy. This cookbook will get a ton of use in my kitchen.
Amazing cook book! I love using my air fryer as often as possible and this made me realize there are a lot more recipes I can make than what I originally thought. I love that it's a 5-ingredient recipe book, so you don't need too much on hand to make a lot of these delicious foods. I do wish each recipe had a picture since I'm a visual person, but other than that I love it!
I too, love my air fryer so I was excited to get some new recipes for it! This is a really simple and straightforward recipe book for the appliance with some great ideas.
When I saw my friend Sue Em had read and reviewed this, I knew I had to check it out. I had also received an air fryer for a gift, but had no idea about how to use it, what variation was needed in recipes, etc. My local bookstore had few books on the topic and my library had less. Not wanting to purchase any without checking them out first, I was stuck. This is filled with some wonderful recipes, with easy to follow instructions, and many that sound delicious and easy to make. Despite the fact that most of us are still spending more time at home, that doesn’t mean that I always have time to spend hours in the kitchen, and sometimes I just want something that is quick and easy.
A quick, easy and healthier way of cooking sounds good to me, especially as warmer days are here, and - honestly - who wants to spend more time in the kitchen than they have to on those rare days when the weather is perfect, or when the heat is unbearable.
Including 175 recipes that include no more than five ingredients, some less, for breakfast, appetizers, dinner and dessert, this offers options for everything ’from French Toast Sticks to Buttermilk-Fried Chicken Thighs’ for cooking with your Air Fryer, whether it’s on a daily or infrequent basis.
This also includes per serving Calories, Fat, Protein, Sodium and Carbohydrates per serving, as well as substitutes for some recipes. A welcome addition to any cookbook collection.
