When Emily is one of the first people at the scene of a bus accident, full of tourists, she just wants to help. As the driver is taken to hospital, she offers to host the driver’s assistant (and girlfriend) at her house until she can get home. But when the driver is discovered dead, Emily finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation that has fingers pointing in all directions, including at her house guest.

I haven’t read any of the other Deputy Donut books yet, but this was so much fun! (And look at those gorgeous covers! I think I need all these books for my shelf!) Deck the Donuts read like a traditional murder mystery style book, with a cosy feel and plenty of twists to the whodunnit. I really enjoyed the characters too. As this is the sixth book in the series, there wasn’t too much time devoted to their backstories, but there was enough there for me to be invested in their lives. I also loved Emily’s cat, who she carries around din her jacket and has a whole playroom built for at her donut shop.

If you enjoy easy to read mysteries that keep you guessing, add this one to your TBR!

Deck the Donuts by Ginger Bolton (Deputy Donut Mystery #6) 4 stars

It is holiday time in Fallingbrook, Wisconsin and Emily Westhill and her cat, Dep are in the midst of preparations for the festivities. In honor of the annual Ice and Lights Festival, the donut shop commissions "Frosty the Donut" ice sculpture. But there is a tour bus crash and Emily and her friends open up their homes to the stranded passengers. The driver, Travis Tarriston, was injured and due to his condition at the crash site, the police believe this to be a DUI situation. Then the next morning, Emily discovers Travis's body buried under "Frosty the Donut". After learning more about Travis's past and his ties in the Fallingbrook area, Emily has quite a few suspects to wade through. Can she figure out whodunit before the holidays are ruined?

I found this mystery enjoyable with a lot of red herrings thrown in. This is the sixth Deputy Donut mystery and we see Emily's progress in healing from the loss of her husband. The true character of the perpetrator doesn't show up until the last quarter of the book. I enjoy all the supporting characters in this series and I love Dep, Emily's cat. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.

Deck the Donuts is the sixth installment in the Deputy Donut Mystery series set in Fallingbrook, Wisconsin and featuring donut shop co-owner, Emily Westhill and her furry feline, Deputy Donut. It's Christmastime and the townsfolk are preparing for the holidays with a highlight being the annual Ice and Lights Festival.

Emily along with her co-workers, have created an icy Frosty the Donut in the town square and she's looking forward to walking through the display to see all of the delightful creations. An afternoon of cross country skiing with police detective Brent is cut short with the report of a tour bus accident just outside of town. Emily accompanies Brent to the accident and discovers that thankfully only the driver, Travis Tarriston has been seriously injured. The town takes the passengers into their homes until another bus can come and Emily welcomes the driver's girlfriend Paige to stay with her.

That night during a raging snowstorm, Emily hears Paige slip out of the house and thinks the woman has gone to the hospital to see her boyfriend. On her way to the donut shop the next morning Emily discovers that someone has vandalized Frosty the Donut, completely knocking him down and there is a dead body lying under the ice blocks. Who killed the man? Was it Paige, one of the bus passengers or a member of the Fallingbrook community who had a past beef with him.

A delightful combination of holiday celebrations, the return and growth of series regulars, an adorable feline and tasty treats. A wonderful addition to the series that leaves you wanting more.

I received an advanced copy of Deck the Donuts from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

The Deputy Donut cozies are intriguing mysteries that are fun to read and keep you guessing until the end. Deck the Donuts is the 6th book in the series and it does not disappoint! It's Christmas in Fallingbrook, the shops and town are decorated for the holiday and it's time for the annual Ice and Lights Festival. Deputy Donut has a very tall, Frosty the Donut snowman ice sculpture in the festival. Unfortunately, along with the snow comes hazardous driving conditions and accidents. Brent, Fallingbrook’s detective and Emily’s good friend, is called to the scene of a bus accident, and Emily, who was with Brent at the time of the call, follows to assist. The bus is damaged in the accident and the driver seriously hurt. The passengers on the bus, including the tour guide, are housed with the town’s residents overnight. The next morning Emily, on her way to work, finds the bus driver dead at the base of a toppled over Frosty the Donut. Several bus passengers feel the driver "got what he deserved" and Paige, who was the driver's girlfriend, believes one of them is the murderer.

Emily is determined to convince Brent that Paige is not the murderer and uncovers several connections in Fallingbrook to the bus driver. There are as many motives as there are culprits! The case looks pretty clear-cut against Paige when Emily stumbles upon some incriminating evidence at her house, but then more clues lead you to a different Fallingbrook resident. In the end, Emily’s investigating once again gets her a little too close to the true culprit as she uncovers evidence that eluded the police. The ending is unexpected, however the author has strategically placed some clues that may cause the astute reader to become suspicious before the reveal.

The author does a tremendous job with the character interactions and dialogues that you forget they aren’t real people! Fallingbrook in its snowy wonder is described so well that you can clearly envision the town square with the illuminated ice sculptures and falling snow.

I highly recommend Deck the Donuts and very much hope there will be many more installments in the Deputy Donut series!

Obviously a sweet read filled with descriptions of donuts and Christmas celebrations that of course require more donuts. It's a nicely put together mystery with a satisfying ending. It has a cute cat and glimmering romance as well. A perfectly satisfying holiday read.

Deck the Donuts is a mystery set at Christmas time in a small town that is decked out for Christmas. The town is hosting an Annual Ice and LIghts Festival. Emily Westhill owns a Donut shop with the father of her deceased husband that was a Police Detective. The Deputy Donut Shop commissioned a sculpture with three ice-carved donut shapes to form a holey snowman that Emily names Frosty the Donut.. A tour bus that was heading to the festival crashed and and the snowstorm has left the passengers stranded. The townspeople generously open their homes to the stranded passengers.,. The bus driver is taken to the hospital and admitted due to his injuries, The officers at the scene of the crash detect alcohol on the bus driver. The passengers also complain that the driver was intoxicated. The following morning, Emily finds her Frosty the Donut sculpture is knocked over. When she goes to investigate, she discovers a body under Frosty. She immediately called the police. The dead body is the bus driver who is dressed in only his hospital gown and slippers.

The passengers have no sympathy for the driver as they feel that he put them at risk with drinking while driving, As they investigate the murder a number of suspects emerge. The driver was a football star in high school at the neighboring town and he had a feud with one of the towns star players. In addition, the driver had dated one of the woman in the town and had dumped her which left her with ill feelings towards him. In addition, there was some suspicious activity with the assistant tour director. This was an interesting mystery to solve which also included some romance. I highly recommend this book.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series and this book is actually one of my favorites of the series.

Emily runs Deputy Donuts with her late husband’s father, with help from Dep the cat. But in this one, the crime occurs away from the donut shop. There’s a tour bus accident, which was coming in for the winter festival. It turns out that there’s been issues with the bus driver and no one seems to like him, so when he turns up dead, there’s no shortage of suspects.

One of the things I like about Emily is that she’s not necessarily shoving her way into the whodunit, she’s smarter than many amateur sleuths in cozies. And she shares what she finds with police officer Brent, her will they, won’t they romantic interest.

I continue to love how friendships are written in this series and I’ve enjoyed reading as these characters have grown throughout the series and I’ve always been rooting for Emily and Brent. The mystery can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading the previous books to know more about these characters. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Loved reading this book and series. Wonderful author also. I highly recommend this author and read the books in order

I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning. This book was the weakest one so far. The action was there but it felt as if nothing really happened. When the big reveal happened, it was very predictable. I saw it coming from early on. I did find it weird to read a book that talked SO much about snow. Living in Alabama, I found that unrelatable and those people dealing with it to be a bit crazy.

The sixth book in the series is once again an enjoyable read. A well written story plot that freely flows. Keeps you guessing until the end. Love this series. Keep it going! Thanks #netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the sixth book in the series and you can read it as a standalone. It would be easier to have read the first ones.

A fun read with characters trying to solve the murder of the tour bus driver! Who killed Travis? The Chief of Police is in love with the widow of his best friend. Paige the tour guide and other characters from Travis past connected in a death many years ago! A super fun read that flows!

Emily and Dep are back!!! This is the sixth book in the Deputy Donut series! I highly recommend reading them in order!!

A tour bus on its way to the annual Ice and Lights Festival has crashed and a snowstorm has left all the shaken passengers stranded and shivering. Emily and her friends open their homes to shelter the traveling families, while the bus driver is admitted to the hospital for his injuries. But the following morning, Emily discovers his body—buried beneath Frosty the Donut. A sculpture she’s commissioned with three ice-carved donut shapes to form a holey snowman. Was it an accident or murder??

I absolutely love this series and the characters. They are so well written! I especially enjoyed the Emily and Brent. I’ve really enjoyed this series!

It seems to start with that bus accident, but it gets way more convoluted. The suspects just keep getting added into the puzzle and it really takes some doing to try to sort it all out. Don't know which gets higher, the amount of lies or the amount of snow (blizzard) complicating everything. And then there's the burgeoning romance between the widow and her husband's former law enforcement partner. A good read!
Not exactly an unbiased review because I'm from Wisconsin and the setting is a tourist town in Wisconsin near Duluth. Besides that, I Back the Badge.

Deck the Donuts is the sixth installment of this fantastic series by Ginger Bolton.
Emily Westhill is decking the halls of her adorable donut shop, but when a tragic accident displaces several tourists, she finds herself wrapped up in a murder investigation.
I really enjoy this series, and this particular book had more twists and turns than a candy cane.

Emily Westhill, along with her late husband's father, owns and runs Deputy Donut, a donut shop that has become a meeting place for many of the town's locals. It's Christmastime, and she's expecting to spend time with her friends, and so has taken some time off to go cross-country skiing with her friend Brent, whom she'd like to move out of the friend zone. When a call comes in that there's been a bus accident not far away, both Brent and Emily go to see if they can be of help.

It's apparent that the passengers are shaken and some are hurt, and there are children on board. The tour bus was making a stop in Fallingbrook to see the local Ice and Lights Festival, and almost made it before the crash. But Emily learns that the driver is from a neighboring town, and that he's had problems before, and learns nothing good about him from others. When she discovers his body early the next morning, it leaves questions all around: could the killer have been one of the passengers? Or worse yet, one of the locals? With the tour guide who was also the victim's girlfriend, staying with Emily, she'll need to watch her back as well as those around her if she wants to discover the truth...

This is the sixth book in the series and I have read all of them. I must say that I think this is one of the best ones. I like the fact that this series progresses, it doesn't leave all the characters in stagnation mode, and things move forward just as they should. It makes each book a fun read, and interesting to boot.

When the victim is discovered to be of a less than stellar person, questions abound and no one seems to have a real answer as to what he was doing in the snow and who hated him enough to kill him. Not even his girlfriend seems to know the truth, thinking he was a wonderful person. But Emily is finding that not to be the case, and her probing -- unofficially -- into the murder gives her clues, which she shares with Brent.

I won't give any more about the book away, but I will say that all the regular characters are here, and all enjoying the holidays as best they can, with houseguests they didn't expect but still want them to have a good time while they're staying in Fallingbrook. When the killer is revealed it is a surprise, just as it should be, and it all comes together nicely in a wrapped package that leaves the ending more than satisfying and the reader wanting the next in the series to be written soon. There are also some yummy recipes in the back. Highly recommended.
