Steamy story with mystery and intrigue woven in…A Great story that the reader can’t put down. I want to be Ellie Bowman! She is beautiful, smart and can kick ass!

I highly recommend this exciting and mysterious romance novel. Kat Martin is a superior writer, and The Last Goodbye shows that designation is going to continue. The writing is good, the characters are likeable and relatable. The antagonists are pure evil. The trip figuring out who is causing havoc and who killed Heather is nothing short of a roller coaster ride in which you must hold on tight.

This is basic, satisfying romantic suspense.

Hot guy has a mystery to be solved and reluctantly hires hot woman to solve mystery. Sparks (and bullets) fly and in the midst of murder and mayhem, romantic sexy times ensue. Yeah, I know…every romantic suspense novel never?

However, our duo is really likable, lightly flawed, but the kinds of people you’d want to be besties with.

Our mystery is intriguing and everyone has hidden depths. There’s also another romance that’s so hearts-and-flowers you just get moon eyed over it.

It’s a fast read and a very enjoyable one!

This was a great story with relatable characters. Ellie is hired to work at a ranch to help solve a murder that happened eight years ago. While on the job she starts to fall for the owner Kade. Kade wants to know who killed his wife so he can move on from that part of his life. Kade liked Ellie from the moment they met but things will not be easy for them. They start to have incidents happen at the farm that they being to wonder if they are connected to the murder of his wife. Another woman ends up dead and has a lot of similarities to Kade’s wife’s murder, They both work together to solve who is causing so much trouble at the farm and in the process solve the cold case. Another home run for Kay Martin.

This is the first book in Kat Martin's new Blood Ties series. Kade Logan's estranged, cheating wife went missing 8 years ago and two years ago her body was found. A month ago her car was pulled out of a local pond. Kade wants to know what happened to her and hires private investigator Ellie Bowman to find out. Ellie works as a cook on Kade's ranch to get as much information as possible and bad things start happening on the ranch. Ellie's probing puts her in the crosshairs of a killer and Kade fights his growing attraction to Ellie. I found him to be a little too overbearing sometimes, but Ellie kept up her investigation. Lots of twists and turns, a mine explosion and some shootings keep the excitement going.

Recently her car was pulled from a lake near Coffee Springs,not far from the Diamond Bar Ranch where Logan´s spread encompasses a large section of Colorado territory. Ellie came into her bosses office looking professional and ready to learn about her new case. She was surprised at meeting Kade Logan. In his 30s, snug jeans, white shirt and Stetson he was stunning. Somehow she never expected the cowboy and ranch owner to be such a hottie.
On the other hand, as Kade was introduced to Eleanor Bowman, she was not the older woman he expected. In her early 30s, a small, beautiful woman dressed to the nines, he found her incredibly attractive, especially her auburn hair. He gave her directions to his ranch where she would meet him to begin working.
This is the basis of Martin´s first book in her next series, Blood Ties, The Logans. It is a well written suspense novel that keeps the reader on edge from the first chapter. Martinś readers will savor her latest book. I look forward to reading more about the Logan clan of men.

The Last Goodnight by Kat Martin is the 1st book in her new Blood Ties series. We meet Kade Logan, our hero, who runs a ranch in Colorado, and is told by police that the car of his late wife was pulled out of the lake. Kade’s wife disappeared around 8 years ago, when he assumed she ran off with her lover, as he was also in the process of getting a divorce; her body was discovered a few years later in a shallow grave, and now after the car is found, Kade wants to avenge her death.

Eleanor (Ellie) Bowman, works for Nighthawk Security as a private investigator, and her boss assigns her to go undercover to investigate who killed Kade’s wife. At first, Kade wasn’t sure he wanted this beautiful young woman to handle the case, but he agrees, especially after the boss explains she is perfect for the job.

Ellie goes undercover as a temporary cook at Kade’s Diamond Bar Ranch to investigate the murder. She begins with learning more about the ranch hands, and the men in town who the wife was involved with. While she is helping with the cooking, Ellie will start helping Kade & the ranch hands with other things happening that seem to be sabotage; with first two cattle are found dead, then one of the ranch hands is shot, and a mine on Kade’s land explodes. It becomes obvious that someone is out to destroy Kade. Ellie insists to help Kade on these attacks, and begins to works closely with him to try and find out who is behind the attack and why?
When another woman is found dead in a similar murder to Kade’s wife, Ellie and Kade decide to go to Vail, as both women seemed to spend time there, having affairs. A suspect in the ranch attacks is murdered, leading them to look closely at the wealthy in Vail, who own the mines.

With all that is happening around them, both Kade and Ellie find themselves attracted to each other; the chemistry between them sizzles and in a short time, they act on their lust. Ellie though knows that despite his feelings, Kade still does not trust other women, knowing what his wife did. He finds himself falling into a jealous rage, when any man talks or smiles at Ellie, which is something he never felt before. Will Kade be able to trust Ellie or will he let her walkaway when the case is over?

Kade and Ellie know that they are close to finding the person behind the attacks on him and the ranch; but danger escalates, as Ellie is now in the sight of a madman. To say too much more would be spoilers, and you really need to read this book from the start. I loved Martin’s Maximum Security series, and now I look forward to seeing what Martin has in store for us in this new series. The Last Goodnight was very well written by Kat Martin. If you enjoy mystery, suspense, murder and a great couple, you should read The Last Goodnight.

Kade Logan has hired a private investigator to try and solve the murder of his wife 8 years ago. The investigator is a woman and Kade isn’t sure she can handle the job. There is great chemistry between Kade and Ellie. There has also been some trouble at the ranch Kade owns. Who is responsible for the sabotage and are the events at the ranch connected to the murder? This was a page turner that kept me interested. The only part I wasn’t wild about is Kades over the top jealousy. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Very entertaining book, with both mystery and romance. The romance is actually more lust, and it gets a little repetitive. The characters are excellent, and the plot is good enough.

This is the first I have read this author. But I liked it. The characters and storyline was believeable. I really enjoyed it.

This is meant to another case to solve but it turns into so much more. Kade Logan needs to be able to put his dead wife to rest he needs to find out who killed her. The guilt has been eating at him for the last 8 years and he can’t carry on like this anymore. They marriage was over but he did love Heather for the longest time. Ellie Bowman has been hired to find out who killed Heather she hopes that she will be able to bring him some closure.
Ellie is finding it hard to keep her attraction for Kade under wraps as she can’t go down this road again but fighting their attraction has became hard for both of them. Trouble is brewing at the ranch as someone is out to get Kade but who and why? Ellie knows that there is a connection between all the events she just needs to find it before someone is killed.
Could this latest murder be related to Heather’s death? There are some similarities between the cases they just need to find the mystery man.
Will Ellie be able to walk away from Kade after the case is solved? Will they find happiness together?

While Kade thinks there is no way that Eleanor can handle the case at his Colorado ranch, Ellie is more than a match to find the murderer and show Kade he has no idea what all she can do! I really enjoyed The Last Goodnight by Kat Martin, and I have been a fan of her historical romance books for years so I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller. The action continues throughout the book and makes for a very interesting read that I just could not put down until the end. The chemistry between Kade and Ellie is great and I loved how Ellie would not take any of Kade's possessive macho stuff. I loved the character of Ellie, who is a very smart, strong, fiery, capable, independent woman who is great at her job. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a good romance thriller! I appreciate the opportunity to read the ARC version of this book for my honest review.

I like Kat Martin books because of her characters and Kade Logan and Eleanor Bowman do not disappoint.
Kade's wife was murdered eight years ago but even though he planned to divorce her, he wanted to find her killer. He hires Ellie, a private investigator, to help him solve the mystery. Elie becomes a cook on Kade's cattle ranch so she can check out his employees as well as the people in the town for suspects. Accidents continue to happen on the ranch as Elie and Kade get closer to the truth and each other. This was a great series starter and I look forward to the next books in the series.

Action! Adventure! Romance! Sexy cowboys! It wouldn’t be a Kat Martin book without two ridiculously good-looking smart people getting in on, and The Last Goodnight is no exception. I really liked Ellie - she’s fierce, independent, and will call you out on your crap. Kade was a bit too overbearing for me. I get that he has trust issues, but the jealousy driven possessiveness he had of Ellie was a big turn off. Still, an exciting ride with a satisfying conclusion.

This is the first book in a new series and it has kept me on the edge of my seat. Kade Logan and Eleanor Bowman (Ellie) are both very strong H and h. His wife was murdered eight years ago and even if she was cheating on him and he planned to divorce her he felt guilty and wanted to find her killer. He hired Ellie a private investigator to help him solve the mystery. (She also divorced a cheating husband.) Kade owns a large cattle ranch and all his employees are interesting. There is murder, mystery, evil, tears, laughter, angst and lots of steam to get us to a HEA. We also meet Kade's brothers at the end of the book Gage and Edge and I am looking forward to the next book in the series The Last Mile (Blood Ties, The Logans Book 2) Gage's story.

The Last Goodnight is the first book I have read from this author and one that I truly enjoyed. Hope to read more in the future. Suspense, thriller and mystery all rolled up into one making this a must read.

The Last Goodnight, is different from most suspense romance novels. One thing, Ellie is a female Private Investigator that Kade hires to find his wife's killer. The fact that he's not intimidated by the fact that she's a Private Investigator is great.
The book was hard to put down, I enjoyed it very much.

Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Bowman is a private investigator for Nighthawk Security, and she’s in the office today at the request of her boss, Conner Delaney, to assist on a new case. As she joins the meeting, she is introduced to Kade, who wishes to use Nighthawk Security’s services to help him discover Heather’s murderer. A bit surprised at Ellie’s youth, Kade none-the-less accepts her expertise, and she arrives to the ranch undercover as a cook.

As Ellie starts digging into Heather’s past, it becomes apparent that she had relationships with some of the men in town, including the sheriff, unbeknownst to Kade. When a head of cattle is found dead, there’s some concern, but when a second is found, along with the deliberate destruction of a mine on the ranch property, it becomes apparent that Kade is deliberately being sabotaged. But by who? And why?

As things heat up between Ellie & Kade, the saboteur gets bolder as well, first shooting a beloved member of the family and then a ranch hand. Then another young woman is found murdered in a similar fashion to Heather, with no apparent connections, giving Ellie other avenues to pursue. A visit to Vail, Colorado indicates that both women engaged in somewhat risky behavior – the pursuit of extramarital affairs – and Ellie & Kade gain some vital clues. But now a killer has set his sights on Ellie…

A good, sexy, suspenseful read from one of the greats!! The perfect rainy day or poolside read!!

You know what you’ll get from a Kat Martin romantic thriller. There will be a hunky, alpha hero and a spunky, sexy heroine. In between moments of insta-lust, they’ll get to know each other and work together to solve some mystery while some evil villain plots to kill one or both of them.

Her latest fulfills that recipe and delivers thrills and some steamy sex scenes. This time the mystery takes place on a Colorado ranch so we get some cowboy yumminess in between the mystery and the sexual heat.
