Thank you to Net Gallery for letting me have a pre publication copy. Having read the first Thursday Murder Club recently I was extremely happy to be selected to read the new book early. I throughly enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. Having loved the first book I found this book to be a lot more enjoyable; the story line, the characters and synopsis was much more enhanced and developed. Thanks again!!

After reading The Thursday Murder Club I was excited to see what happens next to Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim.

Having already got to know the main characters, it was interesting to find out even more about The Thursday Murder Club and their next adventure. I loved the subtle humour which anyone with an elderly relative will easily recognise. The characters speak without thinking, are honest, wise and funny without meaning to be. Their senior years means that people are trusting and loose lipped…just what an amateur sleuth needs!

With characters who are likeable and tightly knit ,it is easy to get drawn into the mystery/crime element which is fast paced, well written and hugely entertaining.

I hope there is more to this series, a highly recommended read.

We pick up with the Thursday Murder Club as they get swept up in the middle of another mystery solving local and not so local crimes. I enjoyed this read more than the first as I had a handle on the host of entertaining characters this time round so could just enjoy their one-liners. Even the acknowledgments were entertaining! Many thanks to Netgalley and Penguin UK for the ARC

The highly anticipated sequel to the Thursday Murder Club this one is not to be missed! Taking place the very next Thursday with our "murder club" characters returning for a new mystery (Elizabeth, a former M15 operative, Joyce a former nurse and woman of many skills, Ibrahim is a retired psychiatrist and Ron is a retired union leader). you can read this as a standalone but the character development from the first book really helps move the narrative forward, it is also a bloody good stopry so why wouldnt you read it first anyhow :) ??

This is such a fun witty light hearted murder mystery and lived up to all my sequel expectations, I highly recommend picking up a copy, it is the optimy of curling up with a good book!

After reading Richard Osman’s first book and being disappointed, as I felt there were too many characters, I was apprehensive about whether I would enjoy this one. I shouldn’t have been. This story flowed a lot better and with fewer characters was much better. Lots of twists and turns as we follow the residents of the retirement village solve the crimes committed. Some bits were rather unbelievable but didn’t detract from the storyline. I feel that Richard Osman has settled into his style and I look forward to his next offering.

A very good follow up, doesn't disappoint. I especially enjoyed the audio version of it, but switching between the kindle and audio worked very well and have me a new perspective on the main characters. A real joy, Richard Osman is a definitely a man of many colours!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Richard Osman and this book. He is so super talented and this book is just excellent. He is a great writer and once again all the characters who are in Coopers Chase are as loveable and credible as always. A great read and not to be missed. I cant wait for book number 3!

Richard Osman's 'The Man Who Died Twice' shows a supremely confident author at the top of his game. That this is only his second novel is astonishing; it meaningfully improves on the first novel in every important aspect: its warmth, its humour, and its intricate plotting. I was delighted throughout, and am so incredibly pleased to have read it. I can't wait for the next one.

There aren't many books where the inhabitants of an old-aged home are able to solve murders and work with MI5!
Book one was a lot of fun, and book two begins just a week later. I love the characters and the setting, but importantly how Osman is trying to show that advanced age doesn't mean stupidity.
This book takes more of a leap into the unrealistic and silly, but I still enjoyed the ride and hope he brings these characters back in book 3 someday.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was just OK for me, the first one I found unrealistic and thought I would see how I enjoyed this book. Fun for a rainy afternoon and brought a smile to my face at times with the back and forth with some of the characters but not something I would say I loved sorry.

4.5

I adored this book even more than the first one and I can’t wait to read the third instalment once it’s released.

I loved the characterisation of both the old characters from the first book and the new ones introduced in this one. I enjoyed how the story unravelled throughout and how things still managed to surprise me up until the very end.

A great book, a refreshing read and one you must pick up.

This is the sequel to The Thursday Murder Club, which you can’t possibly have missed over the course of the last year – even despite the pandemic. Written by Richard Osman of Pointless and House of Games fame; the first book sold loads, it’s been everywhere that sells books and some places that don’t usually sell them. And it was a Book of the Week here too.

The Man Who Died Twice finds our gang of pensioners with a fresh set of troubles. A figure from Elizabeth’s past has reappeared and it’s going to be a real headache. Joyce and Ron are eager to help out, but Ibrahim has some issues of his own to resolve. There are diamonds, mobsters, spies, drugs and a collection of bodies that threatens to grow at speed. It’s all really quite dangerous. Will the foursome manage to solve the find the diamond, solve the murder and take their revenge?

First of all it’s lovely to be back in the Thursday Murder Club world. I was a bit worried about whether this sequel would be able to live up to the first, but actually it’s a joy. The characters continue to be a delight – and the more we find out about them the more I like them. And because the central foursome are already established we also get to see some more of their non-retirement complex friends and see some more potential plot strands develop. And of course we learn more about Elizabeth, Joyce, Rob and Ibrahim. I really, really enjoyed it – and for once I managed to pace myself and make it last a bit as well!

The continuing story of the Thursday Murder Club is numerous, intriguing and downright entertaining. Richard Osman manages to capture, in his writing, the entertaining characteristics we all hope to see in our 70’s. Highly recommend.

The Thursday Murder Club is back!! Another crime for Elizabeth and the gang to solve. Completely bonkers and far fetched but that’s part of the joy! Its an enjoyable read just like the first.

After reading Richard Osman's first book The Thursday Murder Club I couldn't wait to read this second one in the series. It seemed the sort of book I could curl up in a chair, get lost in and have a laugh. Following such a success with the first novel 'The Thursday Murder Club' it was always going to be difficult to follow and I did not enjoy it as much as the first, having said this I did enjoy it and was happy to get acquainted with the characters (my old friends) again.
There are so many ways of describing this book and 'a daft bit of nonsense' is one that comes to mind. We all need a bit of escapism and fun in today's world and Richard Osman can do this very well.
The books make such lovely presents, a treat for anyone.
All I can think of is when will book number three be available?

I approached The Thursday Murder Club with some trepidation when I read it last year and was honestly so surprised at how much I loved the book and took all the characters to heart. The Man Who Died Twice arrived in my inbox and I was nervous again, what if Osman was a one hit wonder? I had nothing to fear, TMWDT is everything I loved about TTMC and so much more.

There are some authors who can write characters that you want to invite into your home, offer them a cup of tea and just chat the day away. Richard Osman is the perfect example of this. Joyce is back with her diary pages and a new-found love for Instagram, Elizabeth is back causing plenty of mischief and Ron and Ibrahim return to pull those heart strings again.

TMWDT is a cosy murder mystery that gave me pains from the belly laughs planted throughout the pages. The plot is so much more developed than TTMC and it kept me guessing what twists and turns were coming next.

Is it completely implausible that 4 OAPS could get up to this series of events? Probably, but with these 4 anything is possible and I'm happy to jump in for the ride!

A fantastically funny, warm and cosy murder mystery that is perfect to snuggle up to with a cup of tea in front of the fire. Now where did I leave my diamonds?

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin for my advanced reading copy.

Just as clever and enjoyable as the first Thursday Murder Club book, The Man Who Died Twice is another knockout read by Richard Osman. Clever but not grating is a hard balance to strike but the intelligence and love for his characters with which this is written really shines through and makes it another one of my standout reads for 2021. I will be on edge of my seat waiting for another installment of my favourite OAPS.

The Man Who Died Twice is the sequel to the best selling debut from Richard Osman, The Thursday Murder Club.

I enjoyed this book, probably a little more than the first. There's a good plot and great characters. Its almost a bit of a cosy read, apart from the murders of course, and I don't doubt that fans of the first book will find plenty to enjoy here.

I'll most definitely pick up any more in the series and I think this one would be a great gift for the fiction fans in your life come Christmas......that's if there's anyone left who hasn't already read it by then, judging from the bestsellers lists!
