Elisabeth has received a letter from an old colleague who also used to be her husband. He needs help as he has been accused by a violent mobster to have stolen diamonds. Elisabeth will obviously involve the whole gang but as Ibrahim gets into trouble, he also needs help.
The book was as entertaining as the first one and I will be waiting for the next book in the serie.

A welcome return of The Thursday Murder Club. The gang are back with another crime to solve when someone from Elizabeth's past pops up at Cooper's Crossing. With the help of Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim (with a little Bogdan, Donna and Chris thrown in for good measure) our favourite septuagenarians show that old age isn't always as sedate as one might expect.

I absolutely love these novels. The relationships between the main recurring characters are just so lovely. Everyone needs a little Thursday Murder Club in their lives. I cant wait for the next installment.

The last chapter left me with goosebumps and a lump in my throat that returns whenever I think about the final sentence of the novel. If you want a book that will keep you guessing whilst making you smile, cry and laugh out loud, then read this.

His first one was good but this one reads like a proper spy thriller!

Having read this first book in this series I was excited to read the next instalment. I love this book- personally think it is so much better than the first. The characters are endearing, likeable and it is so funny! They are on the hunt again to solve a few murders I really hope there are more in this series one of my top reads for the year

Having read the first of Richard Osman’s books, The Thursday Murder Club this was an obvious choice to follow the story. We re-join amateur sleuths, Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron at Coopers Edge Retirement village on their next adventures and escapades with the addition of some new characters.

Elisabeth’s colourful past as an MI5 agent provides an amazing story of helping an old colleague. Involving not only some very expensive diamonds but the mafia as well. there’s murder and mayhem as the friends try to solve the mystery and some cryptic clues to find the truth and maybe the diamonds. As before, it's very entertaining, there is some blossoming romance and depictions of great relationships and challenges which they overcome together.

The characters were already well developed but we learn more about them and their strengths and challenges here. Joyce has some of her own chapters which are taken from her diary, where she chats away, writing down her thoughts and what she wants to tell her daughter about. All of the characters are relevant to the plot. There are many flashbacks to Elizabeth’s past career and her introspection around her marriage are very touching.

The ending is delightful, all the loose ends are tied up and I assume there will be more books to come in the series, which I am already looking forward to.

I loved this book; it was better than the first book in the series in my opinion. It has a great plot that, while it seems a little unbelievable of a group of septuagenarians, I can imagine my late grandmother being similar. It’s funny mostly but has some more serious parts.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to laugh, who enjoys a murder mystery or a fairly light-hearted read about a supergroup of friends.

Completely confusing and utterly gripping, this is a must for those who enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club. The main characters develop and another puzzling crime is solved.
An excellent read, helped for me after listening to the audiobook of the first book I had the “voices” of the characters in my head as I read this one.

I said of the first book that is hard for a debut author to establish a style. Well having read this I can happily report that Richard Osman has now truly established himself as a writer of fiction. He has managed to create a second extremely enjoyable and entertaining multiple murder mystery.

His dry wit shows through from the outset. Building successfully on the eclectic group of characters which featured in book one. He has built on the setting, a retirement village in Southern England. This once again provides the perfect backdrop for a whodunit in the vein of Agatha Christie, with the added bonus of Richard Osman's subtle humour interwoven in this cleverly crafted story.

The novel has pace and sufficient twists and turns to keep it interesting to the very end. In my opinion the real merit is the eclectic cast of characters, all of which are beautifully crafted. Each with their own peculiarities.

I found myself drawn in to the community, even though the links between a retirement community and an active set of police investigations, really does go beyond the boundaries of reality. Added to the mix this time is a spy thriller!

In all, this is a beautifully written and engaging novel. I will look forward to seeing how Mr Osman will build on these two novels when the third book arrives. On the strength of this book I will eagerly await the next visit to Coopers Chase.

As enjoyable as the first book was, this second one is even better! The plotline draws you in further and further until it is racing along pulling the reader breathlessly after it. The Thursday Club members and their friends and families are beautifully crafted and you just can't help liking them as if they were real people you could meet on the bus or in the street. Would definitely recommend.

I haven’t read the first book in these series so was slightly hesitant to start this one. However I need not have worried. It was thoroughly enjoyable with some laugh out loud moments and a delightful cast of characters. I would recommend it.

Having seen so many excellent reviews of the authors first book, was pleased to be able to have the opportunity to read this, his second novel. sadly for me it was just not my 'cup of tea'. Just couldn't get into it , so gave up after a couple of chapters

The books definitely need to be read as a series, rather than standalone, in my opinion
These books are full of wit and humour, whilst dealing with solving very serious Crimes!
The characters in this book have amazing personalities and I really enjoyed being part of their journey. I enjoyed meeting every single one of them in the first novel, but I loved seeing their relationships unfold and how they become great friends
There is a lot of humour in the book and it is a real light hearted, fun read. I also recently listed to the audiobook of Thursday murder club after reading it, and I loved the audiobook so much!
Highly recommend this series!

I don’t know why but I just couldn’t get into this book at all. I’ve tried twice but it’s not for me.
I think this is one of those series where you have to read them in order.
It’s seemed jumbled up and confusing. I know it has been loved by many but not for me.

An easy read……. Some funny lines but wouldn’t purchase this and disappointed with the weak story line. Hard to see why it’s a Very popular book!

I just loved "The Thursday Murder Club" so when I saw that there was a sequel I was keen to read it! It did not disappoint. Osman's clever and funny storytelling gripped me from beginning to end, and it was lovely to read about these characters again. Thank you so much for the ARC, it was a spectacular follow-up to the previous book and I look forward to the next!

I was so excited to get a copy of Richard Osman’s second instalment of the Thursday Murder Club! I would say I preferred the first book but it was nevertheless a funny, cleverly written murder mystery. The characters from the last book who we came to love were still there and familiarity was comforting. The story this time brought in new characters some of whom were related to our residents of the retirement village. Overall, an enjoyable read.

Loved this book. Richard’s style is perfect enough intrigue, mystery and comical situations. Sat and read it in one sitting as I did not want to stop reading. I love all the characters from the first book and enjoyed the introduction of new characters that were equally as full of life. I hope that we continue to follow this group of people with all their idiosyncrasies in a third book. I would only make one observation and I think that it would help anyone who had not read the Thursday Murder Club if a brief rundown of each of the characters from the first book so that every reader started from a similar page. With only half a dozen from the first book it would only take a page and it might be useful to give a brief description of the site as well, the nuns burial, the new building, the various areas and perhaps some of the club/ activities that exist there.
After reading the first book this was not necessary as I could not help but remember the main characters and the surroundings they exist in.
To me it warrants a full 5 stars but if I was new reader to Richard then I would possibly only give 4 stars simply because it was assumed that I would have read the first book.

I really love Richard Osman’s writing. It’s heartwarming and easy to read. He really knows how to draw you in and his comedy elements are well timed. Each character is so loveable that you can’t help but root for them. I need book three of this series now.

Another great read from Richard Osman, I enjoyed every minute of it. We're back with the Thursday Murder Club and this time, Elizabeth is contacted by an old friend who needs some help. With stolen diamonds, ruthless murderers and an old flame, I couldn't put the book down. Sheer escapism and entertainment. Roll on the next book.
