A great read, the second book in this series.

Elizabeth finds herself at the centre of the story as her ex husband appears in her life. Elizabeth and her friends set out to solve the latest mystery, with the help of locals they manage to talk in to helping them.

A murder mystery that keeps you guessing. Told from a variety of point of view, but easy to keep up with the story.

Reacquainting myself with Richard Osman's characters felt like meeting up with old friends. I liked the way the story is told from different viewpoints, as it gives greater insight into the minds of the people we meet in this book. Osman takes time to show their foibles and frailties, making them very relatable. A satisfying mystery with a deft touch of humour. More, please!

The Thursday murder club are here again in a wonderful new book. Elizabeth has received a letter from an old friend- however she remembers collecting his body and taking it to the morgue as part of her job many,many moons ago. Ibrahim whilst out is mugged for his phone and badly injured- the group are determined that the culprits will not get away with it or just a rap on the knuckles. Then there is the small matter of £20 million pounds worth of diamonds. Elizabeth has contacts because where she used to work was rather hush hush, say no more. Bogdan can get hold of anything as again he has contacts. When Elizabeth meets Douglas again there is more at stake than friendship. Can the group get back the diamonds without too many people getting killed in the process and give the mugger what he deserves?
This is a wonderful read- it’s crazy, it’s fun, brilliant and well researched. The little things such as how old people talk across each other with completely different conversations yet some know exactly what's going on. “ Have you ever dealt with the Mafia?” “ I tried to cancel Sky sports once- that's the closest I've got” Of past careers and talents not lost but not quite as honed as they were and that walling frames make you look fatter as the legs are so thin! You get the gist- it's a cozy crime with lots of smiles and very well written.

I thoroughly enjoyed #thethursdaymurderclub so was really excited to be approved for book 2 in the series from Richard Osman. This is another Cromer caper with the gang and I was so here for it. I bloomin’ loved it! There really isn’t much to say - except it’s a delightful read retaining much of the charm of the first novel but with a whole new story. Joyce’s diary entries were my favourite part of the book (and in fact Joyce is my favourite character). I can’t wait for book 3 now. I predict another runaway success for Richard Osman with this book!

I fear I was in the minority by not really enjoying the first book, I think that was because I purchased it on Audible and found the narrator annoying, very annoying… so thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book instead of listen (I wouldn’t have) I found that I was immersed in this book from the start and although the characters were familiar it was a pleasure to once again go on a magical mystery tour with these people, this is a book to read for pure pleasure not to sit down and critique every single paragraph so just read and enjoy

The Man Who Died Twice is the follow up to the wildly successful Thursday Murder Club and Richard Osman has truly found his stride.

We return to our wily bunch of pensioners at Coopers Chase. This time out they are chasing down murderers, searching for hidden diamonds and generally on a frolic. This is the Scooby Doo gang for grown-ups and it is an absolute riot.

The dialogue is sharp and crammed full of laugh out loud moments but what shines through is the warmth and friendship among the quartet and some of the returning characters.

Written as a follow up, this would work equally well as a stand alone. It’s a joy of a read.

And so we have the return of the Thursday Murder Club, Joyce, Elizabeth, Ibrahim and Ron. This time there's spies involved and diamonds - 20 million pounds worth. The mafia also shows its face and there's lots of death. I enjoyed the first in this series though am a bit baffled why it was such a success. This one I liked better. The character of Joyce in particular shines through though she is perhaps rather too insouciant. The plot is absurd - of course it is - this is cosy crime after all, but it's a pleasant enough read and I predict it will be equally as successful as its predecessor. If you're looking for an undemanding read this is the book for you. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Wonderful! The return of the Thursday murder club is like a warm hug, even better because we are invested in these characters from the first book. Here, the story is every bit as good, humorous and empathetic in equal measure. The characterisation is so vivid this is crying out for dramatisation - Sunday night comfort TV maybe?

Hope this series goes on and on.

I loved this even more than the first one! All of our favourite characters are back, and we see them in more depth this time so grow to love them even more..

There are plenty of murders (of course!), quite a few spies, a bit of romance and Joyce joins Instagram. I love Joyce‘s little diary entries - so funny!

Like the first book, it's warm and witty and oh-so clever. If you loved The Thursday Murder Club you *need* to order this now and read it as soon as it‘s published!

Lovely follow-up to his first novel, reading this is the literary equivalent of having a warm bath followed by buttered toast in front of the fire. It’s the Famous Five without the 1950s bigotry, where George, Anne et al. have grown up and Timmy the dog has been replaced by Alan. Delightfully implausible, but still gripping.

I was so excited about receiving this book from NetGalley and I was not disappointed! Absolutely brilliant and, dare I say, even better than the first instalment of the Thursday Murder Club! I just love these books as they’ve got it all - murder, mystery, twists and turns, humour and a bit of a tug on the heartstrings too!
My favourite book at the moment and I cannot wait until the third story! Great work Richard Osman!

I loved The Thursday Murder Club, and I had high expectation for this one - expectations that were exceeded!

The Man Who Died Twice starts the Thursday following the events of the previous book. Elizabeth is contacted by a man from her past, and is brought into a world involving stolen diamonds, multiple murders, MI5, and the mafia. And a surprising amount of drugs. It's a little more high stakes for Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim, but nothing new to Elizabeth! Of course, Donna and Chris are back too, along with the mysteriously capable and reliable Bogdan (is he secretly everyone's favourite?? Because he might be competing with Joyce for that spot).

The first half of this book was great, but the second half was incredible. It was everything I was hoping for.The wonderful banter and dry humour from our favourite septagenarians continued, just as naturally as before, and familiarity with new characters was built up in a way that wasn't just dumping the information on you. The Man Who Died Twice manages to be both character and plot driven, with neither a detriment to the other.

I'm at a bit of a loss of words for how to praise this book without giving away anything, but I was blown away by the intricacy and sheer cleverness of the story. Everything was deliberate, and I'm dying to re-read it already now that I know what happens.

It's made me want to re-read the first book, which I actually wish I'd done before I read this one - I was far too impatient to start this once I recieved the ARC though!

There's also going to be a third book in this series, and even though this one isn't out yet (publication day is Sept 21st!), I'm really excited about the next.

I really liked The Thursday Murder Club . I don't like this one , I Love It !
Richard Osman has managed to improve on his first one , no mean feat.
It carries on with the same feisty super sleuthers with Elizabeth at the helm.
We have murders, drug barons , oh and throw in a diamond heist !
It's a lovely , cosy read , complete with humour.
Loved it.

The Man Who Died Twice is the fabulous sequel to The Thursday Murder Club. We are again thrust into the community of amateur sleuths, retired MI5 agents, serving police officers and a Polish handyman…….. yes Elizabeth, the wonderful Joyce, Ibrahim, Ron, Bogdan, Chris and Donna are back - this time in a plot more like a James Bond movie involving the mafia, stolen diamonds, cocaine, hit men and surveillance! Absolutely fantastic book in which Richard Osman has developed the characters so well and has a plot which is fast paced, twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. If you enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club, you will love this!

Great humour with enough witty grammar checks to make an english teacher jealous.
Elizabeth is a determined soul who does not take no for an answer. It beautifully captures the perfect friendship between planners and 'go with the flow-ers'. The book also shows that we can be brave on our own but it is also okay to need friends.
Spy involvement never makes for a dull book  especially in Osman's hands.
The pacing was good, no slow or dull sections, quite the page turner! So many twists and turns, finally a mystery that kept me on my toes!
Richard Osman is correct, he is certainly growing as an author.
I can't wait to see the return of these characters in Book 3. I also have to agree with Osman, the last line being integral to the plot really does make for a fun ending.

The gang are back! If you fell in love with the senior sleuths in book one just as much as I did, you will be head over heels for them after reading book two! #TheManWhoDiedTwice had a lot to live up to after #TheThursdayMurderClub but I can assure you that it does and more.

Osman has created something unique with these books and I believe it is down to his impeccable writing style and loveable characters. It truly is a winning formula.
The balance Osman achieves with the unfolding of a gripping mystery, and light humour that encompasses every line is a great experience. As a reader you thoroughly enjoy every step along the way. I felt bereft after finishing book one, and I feel the same way now. God how I wish these characters were real and I could go and pay them a visit at Coopers Chase!

If you haven’t read these amazing books, I implore you to go and get a copy, get comfy, a nice cup of tea and some biscuits, and enjoy the ride. There is a reason these books are hugely popular, and it is so well-deserved. Take a bow, Richard Osman.

I was sooooo excited to get my hands on this book after falling in love with the characters in the first book.

I read this book in one sitting! I kept thinking one more chapter but couldn’t bare to put it down.

I just love the characters so much and have a giggle to myself at some of the things they think and say. Joyce has to be my favourite!

I just hope if I ever end up in a retirement home in the future it’s alongside great characters like those in the book. Definitely a five stars for Richard Osman from me. Can’t wait for book 3!

I loved the Thursday Murder Club and this is one of my top new books in 2021.
I had high expectations and I'm happy I wasn't disappointed as this is a page turner.
This book is even better, fast paced and full of action. The tone is sometimes darker and we learn about Elizabeth's past and her work in MI5.
There's plenty going on, a lot of fun and some poignant moments.
I was happy to catch with the group of seniors (I want to be like them when I get old), Joyce is my favorite character but I love them all.
There's plenty of twists and turns, you never know who can be trusted outside the Murder Club.
I assume there will be another book, this one is strongly recommended.
Highly recommended.

I've grown up with Richard Osman, mainly due to Pointless and when I found out he was writing books I was so excited. However, I didn't enjoy the first installment as much as I would have preferred. This book redeemed it for me.
Overall, I preferred this book in the series. Like the first book, it was also very slow paced but it works with Osman's style of writing. Again, Joyce is her usual self and her dialogue is very enjoyable. The plot twists were unexpected and I really liked reading this. Osman left this ending on a mini cliffhanger, prepping for Book 3. I am very excited to get my hands on Book 3 whenever it comes out.
