Holy moly this is one book that packs a punch!!
The four are back together again to solve another mystery murder after Elizabeth reconnects with an old colleague. With the help of Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron they delve into the past to help figure out the present. Who is the murderer? Who stole the diamonds? And how far will The Thursday Murder Club go to solve who done it?
A fascinating and brilliant sequel to The Thursday Murder Club. Hats off to Osman for writing another hit of a book to suit virtually everyone! Full of suspense and comedy you don't want to put it down!

I enjoyed this one, it was less complicated than The Thursday Murder Club, with fewer characters and story arcs, and was less cluttered and clearer for that. There was some very clever work especially at the end, and we got to know our main characters a bit better while having a fun mystery to follow with plenty of twists and turns.

Another farcical adventure for the characters first found in the Thursday Murder Club. I found the plot unbelievable.

Oh, I do love the Thursday Murder Club!
Such a lovely read, sweet, funny and thrilling with a surprising ending.
Elizabeth, Joyce (she’s my favourite 😉), Ron and Ibrahim are at it again trying to solve two murders, the mystery of the disappeared diamonds and a horrible attack to one of their own, in their usual bumbling but clever ways.
I loved seeing the romance blossom between Chris and Patrice, hopefully there’ll be romance for Donna too in the next book, which I already can’t wait for!
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for letting me review this book.

Another fab Thursday Murder Club instalment from Richard Osman! If you read the first book and loved it then you’ll love this too, it’s more of the same lovable characters, more of the same crazy capers and cosy crime. Richard Osman is a master of plotting clever storylines while also throwing in little tidbits that actually make me chuckle, I can’t think of another author who manages the same feat. I listened to the audio version again and as ever Lesley Manville is a fabulous narrator who captures all of the characters perfectly. Five stars again from me - looking forward to the next one! 👏

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club so I was extremely excited about this book and was so excited to get approved. This book was every bit as charming and interesting as the first book. I loved it so much. The characters and story just get better and better. Cannot wait for the third installment!!

I loved The Thursday Murder Club so I was excited to be back with these four fantastic elderly characters again. The Man Who Died is just as warm, charming and funny as its predecessor with a hugely enjoyable story and a host of eclectic and fun side characters. Would highly recommend !

This was everything I wanted from this sequel and more! It was every bit as funny, charming and warm as the earlier instalment in the series, as well as being really very clever. There has been much hype about this series, but the stories really do live up to their reputation. I love the style of writing, the pacing, the plot, and I still desperately want to be friends with the four septuagenarians who are the heart and soul of these books. Wonderful stuff!

My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the arc to review.

The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman continues directly after the ending of the first book in the series. It is a warm and funny cosy mystery that is even better than its predecessor. If you’re looking for a book to relax and unwind with at the end of a busy day this book could be the one for you!

With an eclectic group of characters and a story that will keep you guessing, I thoroughly enjoyed this second outing and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun and easy read. The author’s writing has a warmth and dry wit to it that I love and I can’t wait to read more from him in the future.

Fabulous!

Reading The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman felt like revisiting the funniest, most brilliant old friends and I am totally here for it. This is the ultimate comfort read for me as I’m in love with Richard Osman’s writing style and sense of humour. It’s gentle, it’s easy to zip through and it just put the biggest smile on my face.

I dread to think how extensively this book had to be rewritten for international audiences, because partially what makes it so brilliantly relatable is all the little cultural references – the bus stopping outside Ryman’s, shopping in “Marks’”, each adding to this vivid picture that Osman creates of the gang’s world.

I think Joyce’s diary sections are my favourites, but I am a big fan of basically all of the characters in these books. If you enjoyed the first novel in the series then you’re definitely going to want to add this one to your collection. With thanks to Viking for gifting me a digital copy to review.

Richard Osman has done it again, another crime caper featuring his group of retirees. To be honest, I don't read his books for the crime/mystery, what keeps me interested is the deepening friendship between Ibrahim, Elizabeth, Joyce and Ron. Osman continues to show that older age doesn't consign people to the scrap heap,. We see the frustrations and sadness associated with ageing; death, grief, dementia, loss of confidence are tackled, but these characters make the most of their lives, they are interested in the world and have a lot to offer.

Gulped down very quickly and looking forward to the next one!

I liked Thursday Murder Club, the first book in this series but this sequel really won me over. It was funny, heartwarming, surprising, thought provoking and these badass crime solving grandmas and grandpas have made a permanent place in my heart! Recommended for fans of Only Murders in The Building !

Absolutely delighted to get a copy of this book to read and review. I loved the first one and have raved about it to everyone and although this book was good, it lacked something that the first story had for me and I didn't find it consuming me like the first book.

An enjoyable read by a talented author but not as memorable as I had hoped.

“Some people in life, Sue, are weather forecasters, whereas other people are the weather itself.” Richard Osman

My favourite group of septuagenarians are back with another murder to solve! I loved @misterosman first book The Thursday Murder Club, where we first meet this cast of sleuths who get away with a whole host of things mostly because people underestimate the skill and investigative abilities of these cute old people 👵🏻👵🏼👴🏻👨🏽‍🦳.
🔎
In fact, I think I love this second book more than the first! You’ve got ex husbands, MI5, and the mafia- and these pals outwit them all!
🔎
Each page is entertaining and the dialogue between the characters made me laugh out loud throughout! If you’re feeling the January blues, this is the book you need! 4.5/5 ⭐️

Thank you to @netgalley @vikingbooksuk for my copy of the book

I enjoyed this book, it really is light-hearted fun and its great to be back at the Coopers Chase retirement village again. Not a heavy read, but a light comic caper with characters that you can't help but love

I didn't care too much for the first book in this series, 'The Thursday Murder Club', parts of it felt just too twee for me. The characters were still fun though, specially Red Ron, and I picked this up hoping to see more of him. This book, however, Osman has hugely improved on the first one, and this one is absolutely excellent.
Someone from Elizabeth's past has turned up, and needs her help. It ends up involving murder, gangs and diamonds-can ELizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron figure it all out, and help PC Donna Defreitas and her boss CHris Hudson with a drug dealer in the bargain? I found 'Thursday Murder Club' very well-plotted, but a little thin on the characters. THis book has a fascinating plot, and also wonderfully developed characters. It manages to be a gripping cosy mystery, but also deeply moving on loss, ageing and family. I thought the last book sent up "Red" Ron a bit too much-a former trade union leader, when trade union leaders actually were very brave, and advocating for better conditions for workers. This book treats him with a lot more nuance and respect for his views, and gives him a lot more to do-I particularly loved a great chapter where he has a chat with DCI Hudson on the distinctions between illegality and wrong. Excellent writing. I wasn't too happy with a track involving the framing of a local hoodlum in Coopers Chase-I think there's already a lot of that done by the police and most are not as kindly and well-meaning as Defreitas and Hudson. That still isn't going to make me dock a star, though, this book was a delightful read.

Oh my goodness ! What a cracker ! Exciting, twisty, convoluted but you never lose track of anything. The characters are relatable, funny and loveable. A thriller with tea and biscuits ! This will be brilliant for reading groups. So much to discuss.
