I cannot wait to get my hands on the full book. This author has an awesome way of reeling the reader in on the first few pages. I was unable to quit reading this sampler.
The main character, Mariana is a widowed group therapist who gets a call from Zoe. Zoe is convinced that her friend, Tara has been murdered and Mariana agrees to go to Cambridge to investigate.
That’s where the sampler ends.
I loved, “The Silent Patient”, by this author and I can tell already I’m going to love this book just as much.
This is my first book from this author, though I have heard about him because of The Silent Patient which is on my TBR. I started reading the sampler knowing nothing except that this involves a murder mystery, and after 4 chapters I am excited to learn what happens next! As a big fan of murder mysteries, this piqued my interest because of how the mystery was building up and how there are discussions that involves psychology/psychiatry which I also love. Will definitely read the book when it comes out next week!!!
#netgalley was kind enough to grant me #chaptersamplers for two amazing books #roar #ceceliaaher and #themaidens #alexmichaelides I will be buying both of these books and can NOT wait to get further than five chapters in 😂🙈 #readerproblems #bookstagram #netgalleyreview #readersofinstagram #netgalleyreview #bookstagrammer
Well, the sample did exactly what it was meant to. I am hooked! There are a couple of things that start to happen already in the first 5 chapters and I love a book that just jumps right in! I am so excited to learn more about Henry, Zoe and her friend, and of course our main character Mariana! What a good 5 chapters!! I can’t wait for it to come out!
What I read I throughly enjoyed that I can't wait to read the entire book. Wish my request was accepted but oh well, I got something to look forward too
I really enjoyed The Silent Patient, and was excited to read the preview for The Madiens. The first few chapters are gripping, and I’m looking forward to reading this upon release.
The Maidens: Chapter Sampler
by Alex Michaelides
Thank you for a sampler of this book.
I really enjoyed the sampler. Seems like it will be a great novel. Wish I had more then a sample but was glad to have the chance to get a taste of what it is about.
I I just read the chapter sample for The Maidens and I can see why this book is getting all the buzz!
We are introduced to Mariana who is a therapist and more importantly grieving the loss of her love Sebastian. The chapters go into Mariana’s upbringing and also into a group session where we meet Henry. I am thinking there will be more to Henry’s story than what we were exposed to. As the sampler ends, we learn a young woman’s body has been found & how it may be a friend of a friends.
My mind is already wondering if the death of Sebastian is connected to Henry or even to this young lady? Also I need to know who are The Maidens?
Also can we talk about how the cover just grabs your attention immediately. Coming off of just reading Song of Achilles, the statue head attracts me.
I will definitely be looking to read this when the book is released on June 15th.
Those 5 chapters weren't enough. From what I read, I loved it, it intrigued me to continue, and I didn't want to stop reading it. I don't know what will happen next, and it's a very good thing. I love that this book as the first one is surrounded by psychology. I want to read this book ASAP.
I didn't love the ending in "The Silence Patient" so I hope in this book the ending will not disappoint me. But from what I read, I loved it.
Oh my! Shades of The Secret History jump out at me from the intro to The Maidens, which is why I snapped up the chance to read it (I actually thought this was the book at first, clearly not paying enough attention). Anyhow, I read this sampler and am hooked, I cannot wait to get my hands on the whole thing.
I went in already knowing this was the kind of story I would easily fall in love with. I was hooked on the very first line in the prologue. The writing, from what I could tell in the sampler, was gripping and has me currently preordering the entire book. I cannot wait to continue and complete this story. So far, I feel the book will be a four star rating on, but I also believe it could potentially be a five star.
I loved The Silent Patient so I was thrilled when this book was announced! In the sampler, I loved the quick chapters and how quickly the plot hooked me in! I can't wait to read the entire book
This is my first Alex Michaelides book and I was a little apprehensive because I don't typically read thrillers, but the suspense that this book has going for it just within these first few chapters is unreal. I cannot wait to continue reading it!
The preview made me so excited to see what’s to come in The Maiden’s! I will definitely be picking it up as soon as it’s available.
Michaelides definitely knows how to write thrillers. I was terribly excited to get an audiobook ARC (as well as a preview of the e-book) since I loved The Silent Patient so much. I feel that I can't say much ... almost anything could be a spoiler. Towards the end, there was one thing about the letter that bugged me ... Some of the language used there is used elsewhere and that was hard to suspend disbelief for, but otherwise this is a great thriller.
I'd recommend this to anyone who loves a good psychological thriller. A big thanks to the author, the publisher, and net galley for a copy of this ARC.
What a tease! Now I absolutely have to get my hands on a copy of this as soon as possible. What an intriguing book...
The Silent Patient was one of the best books I have ever enjoyed and the Maidens looks like it will follow suit.
The intro tells us the narrator, a therapist, will go back through her memories to see how to prove that a man murdered two people, though it appears he might be getting off free from what she tells us. Then the story starts at the beginning with a therapy session that occurred immediately prior to the murders.
Though the alleged murderer has not played a role in the story yet, we get to hear a little from those who are or will be affected by these acts. What a tease! Give us more!
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy of the sampler in exchange for an honest opinion.
Intrigued! I am hooked already..with just the five chapters..I can't wait to get to the rest of it..thanks netgalley!!
Can I say that this was such a teaser? I have been waiting for anything by Michaelides since I read The Silent Patient. I cannot wait to have this book in hand. (pre-ordered it already)
Those chapters were captivating to read and I am already attached to the characters.
Cannot wait to find out more and get the chance to properly talk about it.
I am so sad that the book wasn't available completely. I do want to read the whole book now that it was so gripping. This author did it again. The writing will draw you in.
