This is my most anticipated book of 2021 and this chapter sampler did NOT disappoint. After reading the authors previous book, The Silent Patient, I can’t wait to see what twists and turns are in store this time around.

After reading an excerpt of The Maidens by Alex Michaelides, I am hooked! Mariana, a therapist, runs group therapy meetings in her home. The characters in a group are introduced in these first few chapters, and are suitably idiosyncratic. I look forward to this book’s publication in mid-June to dive into the rest of the story!

This is a fantastic excerpt and I am just thrilled to read the whole book!! This has been one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Michaelides debut thriller Silent Patient was outstanding in my view and I can imagine The Maidens will live up to the hype! Thank you for an excerpt to review!

Thank you NetGalley and Celadon books for the chapter summary of the first 5 chapters of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is one of the most anticipated books of 2021 among thriller lovers. The first few chapters did not disappoint and I look forward to being able to finish the book. Mariana is a very relatable character who is grieving her dead husband and rushes to help a family member. The story takes off and is fast paced and I can’t wait to finish it when given the chance. It will be. Great summer read of 2021.

I was really excited that a sample of The Maidens was offered. I read The Silent Patient, and while I enjoyed it, it was outside my typical reading genre. I was torn about whether or not I would pick up The Maidens as I typically lean towards lighter reads when given an option. I picked up this sampler and I did not stop reading until I ran out of pages. I can't wait until I can purchase a copy of this book to finish reading it.

I was so impressed with Alex Michaelides' first book, The Silent Patient, that when I learned about his sophomore book, The Maidens, I knew that I had to read it. I was excited to read the chapter sampler... it solidified my need to read this book. I love his style of writing, how it pulls you in, revealing just the right level of suspense to pull you through the rest of the book. I cannot wait to read the rest of The Maidens!

Mariana's conviction in the prologue - Edward Fosca is the murderer - has me intrigued. Then how the next chapters show how she has to deal with certain group therapy lessons, ending with a phone call from Zoe telling her to watch the news of a murder in her college.

I have been waiting for Alex Michaelides's second book since I read the silent patient a couple years ago. After reading this chapter sampler, I have no doubts that I'm going to purchase it on 15th June as soon as it releases.

Thank you Netgalley and celadon books for the sneak peek.

Wow!! This was an exciting introduction to The Maidens, I'm already very intrigued by Mariana and her group therapy lessons. Opening with a strong hook and lots of curious details, this promises to be quite a thrilling story! I'm looking forward to learning more about Mariana's background, her patients, and why she believes Edward is a murderer. I'll be eager to pick up a copy when it releases, as I really enjoyed The Silent Patient. Thank you to Alex Michaelides, Celadon Books, and Netgalley for a free chapter sampler in exchange for honest feedback.

The first few chapters introduce you to Mariana, a group therapist in the London area. She had a lonely, isolated childhood and now hopes to give other people help with their problems while observing their interactions. She's very likelable, and you get invested quickly in wanting to know how everything works out for her.

The prologue sets up the mystery and her conviction that a local professor is a murderer. At the end of the sample, her daughter's friend is missing and she'll be thrown into the situation she alludes to in the beginning.

I also read Alex Michaelides' first book, 'The Silent Patient' and feel that this book has more promise than that as the writing seems greatly improved, and it might not be as unbelievable as a story as his debut novel.

I look forward to reading more when 'The Maidens' becomes available!!

Ever since I devoured The Silent Patient, I have been anxiously anticipating what Alex Michaelides would come up with next. He captivates from the first page and keeps the reader craving more as his psychological mind benders evolve. The first few chapters of the Maidens did not disappoint. Combining a troubled group therapist, a seemingly untouchable murderer and Greek mythology, Michaelides is pushing the limits of the common thriller makeup. I cannot wait to read it in it's entirety.

I have been looking forward to the next book from Alex Michaelides since reading The Silent Patient, a thriller that I really enjoyed and shared with book club friends. I appreciate the chance to read these early chapters via NetGalley and Celadon Books. The early chapters are engaging and have me looking forward to reading the rest of this sure to be popular summer book. The chapters suggest a fast paced, engaging, and twisty thriller. I mean the first sentence alone "Edward Foscaca was a murderer" is certainly a grab your attention start to a book and then chapter one ends..."What was how the nightmare began." The rest of the writing is similarly fun and escapist and I know I will enjoy, and share, this book as well.
Thanks for the preview!

The Maidens is going to break the internet when it is released. I know personally that i searched far and wide and stopped at nothing to get my hands on a copy and it was well worth it.

Alex Michaelides is hands down one of my favorite authors. His style is gripping and I instantly become obsessed within the first chapter. The Silent patient is still a book I recommend to anyone who will listen!

Lets just start out with the cover. Stunning, gorgeous and grabs your attention. I am not into Greek mythology but you do not have to be to enjoy this book.

From the minute I started reading, to the final chapter, I was clawing at my legs and at the edge of my seat. I could not flip the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen.

Character development was incredible and relatable. The jaw dropping plot twist is one you will not see coming.

This needs to be on EVERYONE'S pre-order list. I could not recommend The Maidens anymore without literally shouting it from the roof tops.

This chapter sampler provides us with character background of Mariana before she is ultimately thrust into the mystery of The Maidens that the book centers around. It certainly is intriguing and I cannot wait to read the full book!
