Alex Michaelides has done it again! This 50-page sampler gave me a real taste of his second novel, The Maidens, which made me hold my breath, pulse pumping, as I raced through the pages. I went through so many emotions as I read and nearly cried when the sampler came to an end. June 15th (full novel pub date), please please please come soon!

Thanks to the author, Celadon Books and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.
This seems like a really promising start! The introductions immediately makes you feel for the protagonist. I am excited to read the rest!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this sampler of The Maidens. I absolutely loved the few chapters that I read. I was hooked from the start.
While I can't see where exactly the plot is going, I can see the similarities between The Maidens and The Silent Patient in that both involve a therapist in the plot. I'm excited to eventually pick up and read The Maidens in entirety as I loved The Silent Patient and have heard nothing by great things about The Maidens.
I am looking forward to seeing where the plot goes with Henry and Marina.
Only 5 chapters, but I am hooked and cannot wait for the actual book. This is a page turner and I have already pre-ordered the book.
A murderer who has everyone fooled, except for one woman who is determined to take him down. If the rest of the book is anything like the first five chapters, The Maidens is going to be another bestselling page turner.
Wow! Only 5 chapters in and I’m going predict this to be a 5 star book! After all the reviews on this one, I was so happy to be approved for this chapter sampler so I could see if it truly is as good as the reviews...and so far I will have to say that it is! I flew through those first 5 chapters and was disappointed when I had to stop reading! The characters are so well written. I’m very curious to read more about Mariana. And Henry....can you say CREEPY!!!! I’m so upset that I had to stop reading and I hope my “pending” request for the full book, gets approved soon because I would love to see how this story continues and leave a review on the full book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for an advanced copy of this chapter sampler in exchange for an honest review.

I'd already planned on reading The Maidens by Alex Michaelides (I've even preordered a copy) so I was excited to get a sneak peek. This book grabs you right from the first sentence and it does. not. let. go. The chapters were so engrossing and went by so quickly, that I completely forgot I was only reading a sampler. I was crushed when I remembered that I didn't have the whole book to read. I know what I'll be reading on June 15th, fo you?
I've read a few chapters of The Maidens thanks to Netgalley and I can't wait to talk about how amazing it is.

We have as the main character Mariana who is called to Cambrige to find out who the killer is at that school, as it has already claimed a few lives, and boy did it start off so interesting as she tells us who "is the killer".
Mariana gets into that role as a kind of "detective" so well that you might even think that the clues that are given are the ones that are going to lead us to find out who the killer is.
This chapter was a page turner from beginning to end. I cannot wait until the full book comes out. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Maidens first five chapters had me hooked. The thriller starts off quick with a prologue that sets the tone for the novel.
The writing style during the therapy sessions seems to point to a fast paced novel.
Alex Michaelides paints a clear picture of Mariana’s mindset in the first few chapters.
The first give chapter definitely grabbed my attention and was leaving me wanting more.
SO SO SO EXCITED TO READ THE FULL-LENGTH BOOK! I've pre-ordered the Waterstones ed and the premise sounds good and so far I've enjoyed it!
Thanks to Netgalley for the sample chapters!
Interesting premise and characters. Would love to read and review the full version of this book.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read the sampler of this book.
I enjoyed the tension of an introvert as therapist leading groups, of a therapist whose childhood and adolescence evoked classic separation and abandonment issues vis a vis a client whose childhood involved horrific enmeshed, and an opening scene of client crossing boundaries and very nearly going "too far." Whether this interest will carry through to the novel as a whole remains to be seen, though there are indications that this quiet introverted therapist may embark on a Hero's Journey to "slay the dragon" in the form of a Narcissistic sociopath killer..or possibly, a Bacchanalian killer tribe. Remains to be seen, but I am definitely intrigued.
I got to taste 5 chapters of this book in the sampler....and now I have all sorts of questions. In the beginning we meet therapist Mariana. Mariana is a widow & also possibly tied to some recent murders. How is she connected, what is Mariana’s role here?! Is her husbands death connected to these murders or the murderer? Was he murdered?
Not that I’m surprised but this book had me hooked pretty well from the get go. Can’t wait to read the entire book!! If this book is as good as his last, and as good as the first 5 chapters, then it’ll be getting a 5star from me😊
Many thanks to NetGalley as well as the publisher Celadon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this sampler!
Immediately hooked. I keep hearing about this one and I'm so waiting for this to get approved on here. It's been so long tho ugh! I just want more!
From the first sentence, I was hooked! It was a very fast first five chapters of the books. The characters have already drawn me in. I can't wait to purchase this book and finish the story.
Thank you to Celadon Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you for the opportunity to read a snippet of this. I am very excited and can't wait to get a copy. I loved the Silent Patient.
I loved this chapter sampler of The Maidens. I've heard lots of praise for The Silent Patient and have been wanting.to check out something by this author. This one is definitely going on my wishlist.
This releases today and I have it already preordered!!!
I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
The story opens and I was immediately hooked. The tension and frustration Mariana feels is present from page one really pull you through. And when the charm and charisma of Edward Fosca is introduced the story levels up once again. I can wait to read more!
