Cozy mystery with lots of drama. Mixed feelings. I enjoyed the plot and this book was written with enjoyable characters but felt off. Maybe mixed signals on some of the characters and to much fluff. Will continue to keep tabs on this author. I'd like to thank St Martin's Press for an advanced copy.
Sloan Krause has settled into her new home in the village and is enjoying the change. With Maifest kicking off, things are busy, so maybe Sloan just imagined seeing the woman who had ties to her childhood. Then the woman and appears at Sloan’s home and tells her a story that makes Sloan question Marianne’s mental soundness. She claims to have ties to Sloan and insists the entire Krause family is on danger from a hardened criminal.
When a maid is killed in Marianne’s hotel room, Sloan has to find balance between believing Marianne’s story and keeping her family safe and worrying about Marianne’s true reason for coming to Leavenworth.
Anything Ellie Alexander writes is fabulous, but this series may be my favorite from her. She writes with a solid sense of who her characters are and builds them so well that you forget you’re reading a book and not catching up on the latest news about people you know. There’s always a solid whodunit and enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the very end. You will never go wrong with a book from Ellie Alexander!
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of THE CURE FOR WHAT ALES YOU (Book 5 of the Sloan Krause Mysteries) by Ellie Alexander in exchange for an honest review. Beer, festivals, family, thievery, kidnapping, and murder, oh my! In this book, Sloan will learn more about her past as it pops up to cause trouble in the present.
I enjoyed this book and like the series. I recommend this book to fans of the series. I recommend the series to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, beer, breweries, Bavaria, German-themed towns, town festivals and events, and family drama.
Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press Minotaur Books.
I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Spring is in the air and so is brand new ale to welcome the season. Sloane and Garrett are putting the finishing touches on the brew before its debut.
Sloane starts to ponder about her past as a stranger arrives who looks like someone from her past. But before she can research the woman is accused of murder of a local housekeeper. The woman tells her that Sloane and family are in danger.
Will this be the end of Sloane? Once again she will find away to figure out things as she tracks a murder. A delicious cozy read in the series.
