Young readers are sure to enjoy this colorful and energetic look at imaginative car racing, teamwork, and friendship.
This book is so cute I ordered the first in the series for our collection. It's a classic children's graphic novel that is sure to be popular with my 5-10 crowd.
I received an electronic ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group through NetGalley.
Mid to upper elementary level readers will appreciate the fun and energy in this series. This is the second of three books by Kent about the racing teams competing for the overall grand prize in a set of three races. The artwork portrays the energy and action and pulls readers in so they are racing along the course with the Glam Prix Racers team. There is an obligatory cheating team (Vroombots) and a more relaxed group (Cyclops Camper Crew) who compete against the "heroes" to score points and win the race.
Kent has created a humorous look at racing that involves a wide variety of imaginary beings who love racing. She identifies each racer on the teams and shares what makes them special to start the book. From there, readers see them use their skills and balance each other along the journey.
This is the second book in the Glam Prix Racers, an easier chapter book graphic novel series. I did not read the first book but I caught on pretty quickly that the bots are not nice. The art is fun and colorful, with a new world to explore. The story is good (friends working together to overcome obstacles and win a race) and the text is easy to read. Even if you're not into racing, this is a fun read.
