I really enjoyed this, the characters are well written and everything is detailed, the world building is fantastic , the story filled with twists and turns, most of which I didnt see coming.

I loved this story!

I was sucked in right away and between the world building and character development this is completely right up my alley for amazing books. I could not put this book down and I am already looking forward the next book in the series, because of course it ends on a cliffhanger and I need more!

2.5 starts

This book surely has potential. However, one too many improbable or cringey scenes/dialogues plus the most irksome and naive MC ever spoiled it.
Yet, the surprising twist at the ending partly rekindled my interest.

“Dear Lord and all his heavenly angels, where the hell did this guy learn to kiss? I was lost.
Lost in his touch, lost in his kiss, lost in him.”

A Glow of Stars and Dusk by Eve L. Mitchell tells the story of Star a witch whose powers were bound without her knowledge before she was born. She is taken by surprise one night when six demons come for her and demand that she cast a spell. When they learn that her powers are bound, they take her on a journey to find out how to unbind them. Star didn’t even know she had such powers, and definitely doesn’t know if she can trust the demons. As she finds herself attracted to their leader Sam, she knows they aren’t telling her everything and his hot and cold attitude is intense enough to drive anyone mad.

I was blown away by this book. It got in my head so fast, and I felt so drawn to the story and the characters. I was so sad when this book ended, and it ended on a huge cliffhanger so be warned. I can’t get it out of my head though so I am definitely giving this one 5 full stars. This was my first book by this author but I have already downloaded another and can’t wait to dive in. I will certainly be stalking her for the next installment of this series as well.

Its been some time since I really enjoyed a book this much. The last one was The Vanishing Girl. Even though there were some confusing parts and some things the author never explained but it was fast-paced and action packed. Every tome I thought I knew what was going on I was wrong.

The only problem I had was that the side characters, Star’s parents, best friend and the villagers seemed like extras. The story could have taken place as it was without them. Except maybe the part that The Mom explained about Star’s powers.

With a cliff hanger like that I have no choice but to read the second book. Star is a total baddie and is queen of sass. A very fast paced book and I flew through this in one sitting. The nonstop banter was highly entertaining and the romance as was what I was hoping for.

My thanks to the author and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. A young Scottish women who does not understand that she is a witch descending from a long line of witches is visited by a generous handful of demons. They are all gorgeous and the sexual energy is astronomic. They are on a mission and need her help. The chase ensues to bring her into her full powers. The sex that goes with the quest is moderately steamy. It is a fun, quick read with a surprise ending. Book two in the series arrives later this year.

A Glow of Star and Dusk is a fun, swear filled romantic urban fantasy.

The leading lady is Star, the way that she reacts to the demons bringing danger and drama makes me like her. As she reacts like I would have done, with fear, anger and a whole lot of swearing. Some of her outburst are funny makes me laugh as she doesn't think before she speaks.

Star and the reader if left in the dark as the demons aka The Watchers aren't completely honest. Even by the end of the book I still wasn't sure what the motives are. I wish the next book was out now as I need to know what going to happen.

The Demons are an interesting bunch, all of them very different. Some I liked more than others. Sam is the leader of this band of brothers. He runs hot and cold, I am not sure what to make of him.

Overall an enjoyable read and a series that I plan to continue reading.

My rating for A Glow of Star & Dusk is 4 out of 5.

Not sure that Reverse Harem is for me. Tried a few other books by other authors, and the result was the same for this one. Too many irons in the fire for one female character. Fans of Reverse harem will love it.

I have received a digital advance review copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book is AMAZING. I honestly couldn't put it down and I ended up reading it in less than a day. This story had demons and hellhouds, HELLHOUNDS and witches. The characters are amazingly written and everything is so well described that I was able to imagine everything vividly. The plot is so good and filled with twists and turns, most of which I should have seen coming.
I honestly can't wait until the second book comes out, because I feel like this could be one of those book series that I will be obsessed with.

This is the first Eve L. Mitchell book I've read and wow what an amazing book. This book just sucked me in. It did also chow on me, swallow me and then just split me back out. It was insane.

Star was a well developed witty, entertaining and truly likeable FMC.Holy hell! I can’t even with this story. I have no words for how good this story is. Star is my new favorite character, and Sam and his demon brothers well they are intoxicating.

I highly recommend this book!

WHAT A CLIFFHANGER WoW!!

Um, excuse me?!?!?!!! That ending has left me on the edge of my seat, screaming and wanting the release of book two to be yesterday. I'm very happy to discover that Mitchell has other series for me to dive into while I wait for the next installment. I love the ease at which she created an all too real universe with the dark and fantastical lurking in the shadows. You'll find characters to love and hate, at the same time. My only complaint is that Star was a wee bit annoying throughout the story, but the plot and other characters were able to drown it out before it became unbearable. This is a very, very solid start to what I predict will be a series that is impossible to put down.

A great start to an exciting saga. I need to know when the next one is coming out ASAP! I can't wait to continue this story.

I'm not usually one to enjoy a long build up in the beginning of a book so the fact that this one literally started with action was such a perk. I really enjoyed Star, the demons and their interactions and witty banter. Overall the story was pretty fast paced and definitely far from boring but I feel like it would've benefitted from some further editing due to a heavy adverb overuse throughout. It kind of took me out of the story a couple of times and made it a little disorienting. Other than that I have no complaints. That betrayal and that ending, though! Talk about a freaking cliff hanger! I can't wait to see what happens in book #2!

Thanks net galley for the book!

Star, a witch with unusual powers, is kidnapped by six demons so that she can perform a spell. Sam, the leader, is dangerous and used to getting his way but Star is feisty and doesn't back down. Their chemistry is red hot and when they fight, sparks fly. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. There are so many great characters including the Hellhound. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one in what I hope is a long series!

Great beginning to a new series! I did not see that killer cliff hanger.... At least that is what I am hoping it is! The characters were awesome! Sam was hot and cold. I loved how he called our girl "witch" the whole time. Can't wait to see where this journey goes. Her journey can't be over yet!

3.5, round up

Sometimes you read a book and enjoy it, even though logic tells you the accumulation of the elements making it up should result in a whole you’d dislike. That’s how I fell about A Glow of Stars & Dusk. A woman is taken hostage, denied the information needed to make sense of her circumstance, alone with several men with expectations of her, who lie to her, take advantage of her ignorance, speak insultingly to her and disparagingly about women in general, a real alpha-asshole romantic lead, a relationship with abusive red flags flying every which way, ect. Most of these things I generally dislike on principal.

But being fantasy and the main male romantic lead being a demon (you have to expect some evilness, right?), I was able to set aside a lot of my qualms and enjoy the book for the snarky sarcasm and what-will-happen-next quality of the plot. I will warn that it has quite a dramatic end. It would stand alone (though I imagine a lot of people wouldn’t be too happy with it). But, as there is supposed to be a book two, I’ll call it a precipitous cliffhanger.

I did think the author went a little too far with the demons’ origins and age. It felt over-blown. Like, what interest would a 24yo women be to someone with that breadth of experience? But beyond that I have few complaints. I’ll be looking to read book 2 when it’s released.

A witch who doesn't know she's a witch, a band of demons who are as sexy as they are bad-ass, and a plot line that keeps you guessing until the very end. A Glow of Stars & Dusk is a page-turner from the very beginning. With well-developed characters, plenty of snark and a series of unexpected twists, this is an author and a series to follow.
