Sarah is drowning in debt when she comes across an ad for a nanny in New York. It is like a dream come true and she is on top of the world. She later finds out that she will need to sign a contract with a lot of small print, which she doesn't bother to read.
An easy, dramatic mystery. It skips along at a good pace as we learn more about the "nanny contract". The author adds a few elements of surprise that had me scratching my head, trying to figure out what was going on inside the upscale home.
Lifetime movie stuff, add some eerie tunes and perhaps a murder or two?
If you'd like to meet the Bird family and are looking for a different take on the nanny plot with some deceptive, colorful characters and some cray-cray charades, enjoy the ride. Although, you will need to turn your believability radar completely off to enjoy.
Wow! It's been quite awhile since a book genuinely surprised me.... Not only was I not sure if I would even like this book, but the biggest twist, I never saw coming! I read this book in a matter of hours, it was that good! If your into psychological thrillers, this book is for you!
Thank you to the publisher for my 'wish' and to Netgalley!
Wow, what did I just read? After the last page I thought to myself “that author just blew my mind!” That is really hard for a book to do that to me because I read a lot and have never read anything like this. I loved, loved, loved this story so much! It was such an original plot and I never saw the twist coming and it was enormous. I will highly recommend this book and can’t wait to tell my book friends about it.
When you are short of money and deep in debt, getting a job as a nanny for a wealthy family is a dream come true.
All she has to do is take care of a three year old child. Oh, and keep mom company. How hard can that be? Harder than you think!
I was given this book by the publisher to read and review.
It is a phenomenal read. I definitely recommend it!
This was quite an intriguing novel! I enjoyed the mystery it built up and the crazy that was stirred into the pot but I was slightly disappointed that the end was the best and shortest part. Right when it starts clicking everything into place and where and what and why was answered it ended. It felt abrupt and I felt unfulfilled. An epilogue would have been nice to tie up loose ends and give me some satisfaction that the story has ended so I feel a bit slighted in that regard. Nonetheless it was a good story.
Sarah was raised by her Aunt Clara who passed away and so she moved to New York City. She’s living with her fiancé Jonathan and they are happy but with past due bills piling up they need more money. She finds an ad for a nanny position for an unknown family and takes the plunge. The house is fancy the family seem like a dream and most importantly the money is great! But when she begins the job things get weird and start going downhill quick.
It really was an engaging read I would recommend for all but just be prepared that it will leave you wanting a bit more in the end. 3.5 stars for me!
Thank you netgalley and Ballantine for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Wow-what a spooky page turner! While reading Nanny Needed, I caught myself holding my breath more than once, genuinely worried about what would happen next.
Sarah has suffered so much loss in her life. Her parents died when she was young, leaving her to be raised by her beloved Aunt Clara. Unfortunately, Aunt Clara also passed away when Sarah was just coming into adulthood. Determined to live life to the fullest in Clara’s memory, Sarah moves from Virginia Beach to NYC, where she falls in love. However, Sarah and her fiancé Jonathan are struggling to make ends meet. When Sarah finds a job listing for a nanny needed, she jumps at the chance to pick up extra work. The Bird family is alluring-living in the penthouse in one of the most coveted NYC neighborhoods. There is a housekeeper and chef at their disposal. Collette Bird, the mother, is clearly unstable but fascinating. Sarah finds herself slipping deeper and deeper into this family and their issues.
How much money would it take for you to ignore a red flag? Multiple? When is enough enough at a job?
With a shocking twist, Nanny Needed is a breathless read.

What a deranged wild ride - the ending made absolutely no sense but the book was so crazy it worked. One of the more gonzo psychological thrillers. You either like that or you don’t. 3.5 rounded up
So I will admit that pretty much the whole book I could spot the clues of what was happening a mile away and was ready for this to wrap up. However, I was completely surprised by the ending and that alone bumped this up another star for me.

I love Georgina Cross' books so i was thrilled when i was chosen to read this one! The writing was wonderful, the suspense kept my attention every second; I powered through this book. While I enjoyed the plot of her previous two books better, this book was still amazing. At first I thought the secret was revealed way too early, but she did a great job of throwing out twists and turns and bring it to a HUGE surprise ending! Another awesome book by her!
This book was exactly what I was hoping for — a gripping thriller that let me escape to another world for a few hours. It was such a compelling read that I finished it in almost one sitting. While I guessed the biggest twist fairly early on, I still enjoyed seeing the plot unfold. I'm definitely excited to read Georgina Cross' next book.
Two words can be used to explain this book! Mind blowing! It’s amazingly written, with characters s developed in such a flawless matter that you are completely absorbed by the sinister, demented book you’re reading! I absolutely could not put it down and need more about them all! Demented, engrossing, fast paced, and unputdownable! I absolutely highly recommend this twisted tales! One of the most unique, original, and twisted books I’ve read, but in a manner that most thriller writers would never ever think to utilize! One of my fav reads ever, which is saying a ton! I promise it’s a one sitting read, so clear your schedules and start early in the day, or you’ll be up all night trying to finish the last twisted word! Holy cow!!

Great thriller that kept me interested to the last page. I would highly recommend this thriller to all readers. I loved the characters and the setting also added a lot of the plot.
Great domestic thriller with a fresh storyline that will keep you guessing till the end. Very entertaining! There were times that I felt reality needed to be stretched a bit, but the over the top reveal at the end actually fit the indulgent, obsessive lives of the Bird family. Definitely recommend for fan of the genre. #nannyneeded #georginacross #netgalley
Sarah Larsen has landed a dream job as a nanny in a glamorous New York City penthouse. The pay is extraordinary and her new boss is more like a friend than an employer; so when she’s asked to sign an NDA it seems like no big deal. It soon becomes obvious that this dream is more of a nightmare, the Bird family is anything but “normal” and Sarah begins to wonder exactly what happened to their last nanny. A creepy domestic thriller bound to entertain fans of the genre
