The latest book from this author is fun, full of friendship and holiday cheer! The monkey is not ready for Christmas but with his trusty tool belt and plenty of ingenuity, Chico helps his friends decorate and turns a pile of junk into a bundle of gifts. This is a great book to read to little kids. The illustrations are very well done. Kids love this book

Very cute Christmas tale about a fix-it monkey. The last thing you expect to see at arts and crafts is a monkey, but this one would fit right in. Just give them their tool belt, and let them loose!

This is a fun holiday book for fans of monkey with a toolbelt. In this story chico is busy planning a party and making gifts for his friends. I enjoyed seeing the creative process of making "junk" into presents.

Thanks to NetGalley and Carolrhoda Books for this ARC! My son (age 5) loved this new addition to the "Monkey with a Tool Belt" series. It's a highly entertaining read with pages full of detailed illustrations! I appreciate how the storyline is silly, educational (fixing/problem solving/etc), and a fun Christmas theme. My kids will read this over and over again!

This was so adorable. The pictures are vibrant, bold and gives enough detail to know what is going the on. The amount of words per page is a good amount. The story is long enough to keep my 6 year old interested and yet short enough to keep my 4 year old interested. The plot is interesting and a good Christmas story!

Such a special Christmas book of friends planning a holiday party for everyone! I love how this book teaches that you don't have to go and buy presents for your friends and it is better to make special gifts. A wonderful holiday book for kids of all ages. I highly recommend it. Thanks #netgalley for the advanced reader copy. I really enjoyed this one!

I received an electronic ARC from Lerner Publishing Group through NetGalley.
Chico returns in this new book and the adventures continue. He only has three days until his holiday party and he has more than enough to do to get ready. Readers see Chico play with friends and create incredible gifts out of a junk pile they find in the forest. They also always appreciate the amazing items he has on his tool belts. The necessary tools are always there when he needs them. The humorous antics begin on page one and carry on through the entire story. Love the detailed illustrations that capture the fun and the joy of the holiday season.

This book was received as an ARC from Lerner Publishing Group - Carolrhoda Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book will be a hit around the holidays for our storytimes. The monkey was brilliantly written and drawn and what a fun and innovative concept for a child storybook. This book also demonstrates the true meaning of procrastination in that your big party is only a few days away and nothing is done... you're in stress city. This book also reflects on the importance of being kind and generous because that creates friends who can come and help you and of course with friends working together...all is possible. I can't wait to see the looks on our toddler and children's faces when they read/hear the story for the first time.

We will consider adding this title to our Picture Book collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

If you love the Monkey With a Tool Belt books or the Netflix show Chico Bon Bon, this book is for you. I love the sweet actions of a loving friend as Chico stays up so late handmaking presents for all of his friends.

Monkey With A Tool Belt and the Craftiest Christmas Ever by Chris Monroe

I read an arc of this book from NetGalley with my 4 year old. He is a big fan of the Netflix series but we had not read one of the books before. I was a little thrown that Chico looks a little different than he does in the show but my son was not. He did not seem to notice.

The illustrations were great and I imagine all of the tiny little details will be more appreciated in a good sized picture book edition. Similar to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff; I imagine It to be the kind of book kids would go back through on their own over and over to look at all the picture details.

The story was nice and a good length for his attention span. I liked that Chico repurposed items for his gifts.

5/5 for us. Would buy.

Love the artwork, the story itself to me was only okay. I was slightly bored by it . Thank you #netgalley for Allowing me to read this beautifully illustrated book in exchange for an honest review.

Someone hand me my glitter buster and holly clippers, will you? And please invite me to the Christmas party with a light-up cocoa fountain, a Christmas tree made of burritos and a mega cheese ball!

My Gosh, this is the cutest little Christmas story ever. All the little cute animals, the tiniest details like the names of the tools on the monkey's toolbelt.

I also like the idea that it puts out there, of making gifts for your friends, and not just focusing on shopping and spending money, but telling a story where the focus is on THINKING of others.

Chico's little face was so adorable too. I think everything was just adorable.

This is my first book from this series but after reading this I will definitely be checking more out! This is the perfect book to read around the holidays to my niece and nephew.

My girls love the Monkey with a Toolbelt series, and this was no exception. They love seeing what new tools he'll have in this book. Every series needs a Christmas installment, and this was nicely done. Chico Bon Bon not only cleans up a mess he finds in the forest, he's able to use the "junk" to make fantastic presents for all of his friends--so it's eco-friendly!

Chinco’s Christmas party is in 3 days!

A cute story on how this monkey gets ready for his party.

I was attracted to the book as I myself love Christmas and Crafting!! I think it’s a cute storyline! I liked that it teaches kids to help others, clean up the environment, not be afraid to re-use items and sharing their crafty side! Gifts don’t always need to come from a store, handmade gifts are filled with a lot of love.

Cute illustrations!! A cute holiday book for kids!!

Thank you Chris Monroe, Lerner Pubkishing Group and NetGalley for the advanced copy to read in return for my honest review!

I have not read any other Monkey with a Tool Belt story, so I began reading without any expectations. I appreciate that the character is making gifts and decorations out of 'junk', because most children's gifts are handmade. It's nice to see that the character relies on crafting and creativity. I also liked the open ended page of items he had available to him, because I think that could be a good place to ask a child what he or she may make out of the things he has. It creates conversation and encourages creative thinking. The illustrations, however, are very immature, in my opinion and I personally expect more from children's books. They often rely heavily on the images, since there are fewer words. It is a cute story, but not as engaging as many other holiday stories that are there for young kids.
