First time reading this author and I fully enjoyed her writing style. This is the story of Mara and Duncan, it has all the fun ups and downs you want in a fantasy story that keep on the edge. A fun read and I will be looking into the authors backlist for more.

i really enjoyed reading this, it was a great take on the paranormal and romance genre, the characters were what I wanted and I enjoyed getting to go through the plot.

I was initially drawn to The Devil Inside by author Susan K. Hamilton by its cover. It’s fairly simple but I thought it was pretty cool. The blurb seemed interesting: A devil with a knack for sniffing out corrupt souls has something to prove meets an angel stuck in a dead-end job, starts a forbid affair. Simple enough. I wasn’t looking for a heavy read, so I went for it.

Annnd it was a fun quick read. I liked Mara and Duncan’s characters. Duncan’s job didn’t seem so dead-end, although his boss was quite the uptight piece of work. As for Mara’s job, while it didn’t seem very original, the way she handle it was decent. I think the part I found the most interesting is how heaven and hell are portrayed as two divisions of a single corporation. Now that I felt was a curious concept. It certainly gives a reader something to ponder over.

As much as I enjoyed the story, and all the secondary characters, I found it to be a bit predictable. Once it was mentioned Mara had a big secret, I immediately figured out what it was going to be and how it would play out. Still, it made for an adequate read. Not sure if I would grab someone and tell them this is a must-read book, but it is certainly something worth reading if you want something light and entertaining.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received this book as a free ARC in return for an honest, unpaid, review.

I love Susan Hamilton's books. This one in particular really caught my attention. I had never thought of Hell as being a Corporation, with sales and acquisitions, etc.
Mara is a disabled devil. Disabled, and vilified, because she doesn't have wings.
She battles another devil who tries to take the top spot she is striving for in the company, but comes out on the losing end each time, until she meets an underemployed angel.
This book was fun, unusual, and well written. I hope there is a sequel.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Inkshares for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book was quite different for me. The characters were interesting and unusual. I mean Mara tries to hide her heritage. She befriends humans and is a devil. Duncan is an angel who cusses (I found that amusing). They defy everyone and fall in love. What's not to like? I found it funny. Enjoyable read. 3.5 stars
