Breed, a Delta Force veteran, is called on a mission to rescue an American soldier held captive in the mountains of Afghanistan. Breed soon realise that this is not a simple mission and that there is a greater game played above his paygrade.
This is the first book I've read in the Breed series and it was superb, a top class military thriller which I found impossible to put down, A lot of details and interesting characters. I'm definitely hooked and will be following this author, I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to Inkubator Books, the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and share my honest review,.
Excellent book, well written story with great characters, and it's good to see an author who gets technical facts correct. The plot may be a little strange, but it does make a good story.
My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Inkubator Books for the ARC.
This is Book #2 in the Breed thriller series. It's well-written and has a complex and very twisty plot.
Breed has a relatively relaxing contract on an island in the Philippines as part of personal security for the owner of a pineapple plantation, when his boss informs him he's to be offered an important assignment. We meet up again with the ever-resourceful, and well-connected, CIA agent Anja Stein who outlines a plan to recover Sgt. .Robyn Trainor and Col .Grissom from the hands of a war lord in North East Afghanistan. Lt. Gen. William Anthony, who Breed had known for twenty years, and for whom Breed had undertaken hazardous treks across the region to map-out the war lords' heroin and arms supply routes, is heading the rescue operation. Peace in the region, together with the withdrawal of American troops, is at stake.
What should have been a two-day operation becomes increasingly complicated.
As with Book #1, I did find the level of detail regarding guns and ammunition once again demanded my skim-reading skills to bypass the technical details and to get on with the story. However, I think this book does have a very intriguing and absorbing story running through it, with lots of twists along the way. Yes, there's lots of military action and heart-stopping moments - but who's betraying who?
Well worth reading.
If you like action and military fiction this one is for you. Wow, what a ride. Open Season is the second book about Breed ex Delta force soldier by Cameron Curtis. I really liked the first one and was gladly surprised that this one is even better. I sincerely hope that we get to follow Breed for many books to come. This time he is recruited as an expert on Afghanistan mountains on a mission to free two captured American soldiers from the talibans or the mujahedin, or both? But something is not right, there is a deal going on and are someone trying to sabotage the deal? Well you have to read the book yourself to find out. I must thank @netgalley @inkubatorbooks for giving me this great advance copy and #CameronCurtis for writing this high speed thriller. Oh, and I just learned that there is three more books in the making. Great news.
